Some need to wear them occasionally for medical purposes or protection against weather, outdoor hazards, etc. Of course, they often don't find them very comfortable, especially at first, but can get used to them. Since dogs' feet are quite sensitive, I can imagine how strange it'd feel to suddenly have them wrapped in cloth.

Poor thing!!! Those shoes are way too big!!! With appropriately sized such shoes, your dog will be running in no time. Well, I speak from experience. When I first tried shoes on my dog, bad shoes, she walked like this, then fell on my face. Took the shoes off and gave them to the vet to use one by one on hurt paws. Then I got a good pair like these, perfectly sized, and she got them on and never stopped running for a month!!! Every time out, she would be running like crazy... :)

I think it's a good idea to protect the chihuahua's feet from the frost. Chihuahuas aren't made for snow-weather. I think it might be easier for smaller dogs to walk in "dog sandals" instead of the boots. Google "Heartie Barkadeer Dog Sandals", they're so cute!!

It's okay to put the boots on the dog, it protects their tender paw pads from the cold etc. but the reason she is so awkward is because those boots are much too large. The boots aren't supposed to stick out way past her paws like that. Still pretty funny yo see how goofy she looks...

It's not animal cruelty to dress animals. Maybe they won't like it but every owner tries it and if the dog doesn't they take it off. Simple.
Furthermore, some people do not have children and have pets who they treat as children and they love to dress them up to make them feel like they are humans. Animals are just like humans just different reactions to emotions, hurt them they wince and whimper, make them happy they wag their tails. Dressing them up does no harm.
Miniature dogs, tea cup sizes and toy dogs are NOT dogs of the wild. Their paws are not as protected as dogs like labs and other mixes, basically the dogs that have been around since, well, forever. Vets recommend putting booties and shoes and for teacup sized dogs even SOCKS. Their feet get frost bit quickly and badly. Learn the facts before you open your mouth.
I think they happen to be cool and do serve a purpose. I bought my yorkie a pair in the winter to protect her paws from the salt on pavements. It is cute to watch them get use to wearing them, but after a day or two it becomes second nature.
This isn't cruel, my horse walks like this when we put her travel boots on. Also, these are what vets recommend nowadays and the last time I checked, vets don't usually advertise products that are cruel. My greyhounds have these for when they hurt their feet. It's not cruel, people get a life.

Yeah, not animal abuse at all. Some dogs weren't bred to withstand the cold. I have a Shih Tzu and he can barely touch a cold pavement with his bare paws. He hates stepping in snow, because it's too cold. He won't even step in puddles, because it gets his paws wet. Not to mention, some types of road salt used are harmful to dogs and cause reactions. So stop talking like you understand dogs, and enjoy the adorable chihuahua.

Where I'm from, we use road salt to melt ice in the winter, this lowers the freezing point to well below zero, somewhere around -18, and that will give a dogs feet frostbite on contact. Also, here, it gets well into 100+ in summer even in the early morning. Until we can figure out a better way to protect their feet, I'll gladly put the boots on my Apollo.
@DemonShuriken87 We're stupid? First off, salt lowers the freezing point of ice, but that doesn't mean it lowers the temperature. Second, their feet aren't like human feet. They can withstand very high temperatures. These animals have evolved over a period of millions of years, and a few thousand years of domestication won't change their entire genetic code.
@CaramelMarshmallow i had to get my dog booties because his feet weren't fit for walks outside. just around our neighborhood and his feet would bleed a little.... the boots provide a buffer, so he can go on normal walks and come back into the house with his feet still in non-bloody condition.

@360kitten my puppy got ice burns on her feet because of the snow so we had to get boots what would be more cruel to watch my dog limping and having awful scabs on her poor little paws or to get her boots?yes it look silly and yes some people do just put clothing on their pets for novelty but these shoes do actually serve a purpose.

I think the vids cute. Just the way he talks to the dog, you know he loves the dog. My dogs paws are still tender, if I lived in cold weather I'd have to keep her warm inside and if she were outside, I'd probably carry her while she has booties on. The dogs not gonna hate him for life for putting booties on it and making it walk for a vid. Once dinner time comes I'm sure he'll feel a whole lot better.. You wanna see animal cruelty, then focus on the people who actually HIT their pets to death D

Yeah, not animal abuse at all. Some dogs weren't bred to withstand the cold. I have a Shih Tzu and he can barely touch a cold pavement with his bare paws. He hates stepping in snow, because it's too cold. He won't even step in puddles, because it gets his paws wet. Not to mention, some types of road salt used are harmful to dogs and cause reactions. So stop talking like you understand dogs, and enjoy the adorable chihuahua.

@angryheavyhand How is it cruel? My dog has to wear shoes when i take her for a walk in the forest because if she doesn't she sometimes cuts her feet on pointed branches and gravel, not to mention stupid people sometimes leave broken glass lying around. If dogs get their claws stuck on something and it gets pulled off they can bleed to death. They only walk like this the first time they have them on, once they realise they can walk properly in them, they walk quite normally.

I swear you people are stupid... This is not cruelty. Where I'm from, we use road salt to melt ice in the winter, this lowers the freezing point to well below zero, somewhere around -18, and that will give a dogs feet frostbite on contact. Also, here, it gets well into 100+ in summer even in the early morning. Until we can figure out a better way to protect their feet, I'll gladly put the boots on my Apollo.

@DemonShuriken87 We're stupid? First off, salt lowers the freezing point of ice, but that doesn't mean it lowers the temperature. Second, their feet aren't like human feet. They can withstand very high temperatures. These animals have evolved over a period of millions of years, and a few thousand years of domestication won't change their entire genetic code.

@CaramelMarshmallow i had to get my dog booties because his feet weren't fit for walks outside. just around our neighborhood and his feet would bleed a little.... the boots provide a buffer, so he can go on normal walks and come back into the house with his feet still in non-bloody condition.

So, I thumbs up the people who put booties on their dogs. They are just trying to protect their pets from hurting. The boots don't hurt them. And they DO get use to them. also. Domesticated dogs were bred, when they found a certain characteristic they preferred the breeder would breed more. They didn't evolve from millions of years
