Hi!

My impression is that interested in the Aztecs. So do I. I became interested in them recently, and now collect information on publications and texts concerning the source of this great people of Central America, also looking for information about the neighboring tribes (allies and enemies of the Aztecs), especially about Indians from the city of Tlaxcala. Do you know any good source texts and studies in English?

But you must also remember that the Aztec empire fell also because of the hatred the neighboring tribes, for which the Aztecs themselves are responsible. @mellyvel1 African dance involves the entire body, not this stiff, no rhythm, robotic dance by number to a monotonous drumbeat drivel. Most social dancing in all of the America's evolved from African dance. Nobody doing any Aztec steps 500 years later.

People all over the world (including Mexico) do dances that evolved from African dance - mambo, rhumba, salsa, cumbia, hip hop hop(most USA popular dances past & present), house, jazz, swing, samba, bachata, dancehall limbo, punta, etc., African dance involves far more than "moving the ass". I agree African dance nothing like Mexican dance. African dance is still relevant worldwide.

@luvureally but what you getting in is totally diferent, maybe on those dances have those movements but if you see mexican dance does not have any kind of those movements like duranguense, norteño, etc. & if mexicans do dances like those doesnt mean that our culture has some africans in it, its not like that, each country has its own culture and you shouldnt mix it with africans, they dont exist on our culture so dont mix culture with dances both are different from each other...

Since you dismissed Africans as monkeys and reduced African dance to mere ass shaking, I just reminded you of the world dominance and influence of African based dance and music. After conquest of Aztecs Mexico had plenty Africans in it. It had slavery until 1810. Their descendants are still in Vera Cruz, Costa Chica. Vincente Guerrero, Jose Maria Morelos and Yanga Gaspar are Black Mexican heroes.

@mellyvel1 post Aztec music does have African influence. "La Bamba" the song known by most non Mexicans, was created by Blacks in Vera Cruz. What about Mexican son & Mexican cumbia? What about the marimba?

You are REALLY confused about your own country if you don't know that Mexico had African slaves for 400 years! .Most were absorbed into general population. Name one country in North, south, central America and the Caribbean that didn't have African slaves. I did not say the Aztecs were Black, I am talking about after Spain took over and brought in African slaves.

@mellyvel1 genetic studies show average mexican mestizo has around 4 - 5 african bood, the olmecs were of african origin, veracruz has a big population of people of african descend, many african american slaves ran to mexico after slavery was abolished, many also escaped from Belize, and about the blacks being cowardy, the mayans and blacks from belize sometimes fought together against europeans, rown and Black Unity

@SupremeARA915 Blacks were so coward they didnt want to fight against european for that reason they were still slaves until the 40s, and the aztec, mayans etc. never mixed with blacks, they did mixed with european people (the word mestizo is just for mixed of native americans n european) n i know that bcuz my grandfather is an expert about those things, you dont have any proof about that, but i do have proof about that, maybe the belize poeple mixed with them n that doesnt mean that mexicans too
