  • Thats very very nice. Are there plans or a do it yourself video? Are you selling completed tricorders?

  • @bradleythekid how did you make it you must do an instruction video for it!

  • What did you use for the case??

  • That's too damn cool!

  • Those sounds are added in post.

  • Oh, nice. Very impressed! Build me one! LOL!

  • metal or plastic and how hard was it to build

  • I want one!!!

  • How did you make the body? learning how to make the led circuits and such is simply learning, but do you use an existing tricorder shell, buy one, or mould your own?

if you know of any tutorials online for any of it or have made some yourself let me know!

  • Bradley, you have a little too much time on your hands, haha. You'll have to show me it when I come home for Christmas.

  • @thetrumpeteer16 Pretty sweet though, right? I just have to figure out the battery thing... for the video the unit was run with a 9V battery and what should be used is a 6V lithium battery... Then it would light up for hours and hours instead of minutes,

  • Googled gmprops, but the site isn't ther, and ha no joy in the manual. Any ideas?

  • thats kick ass can i buy one off you?

  • make me one

  • what star trek show was the mark X used on and the mark 9.

  • @jsf525 The Mark IX was used in Star Trek: DS9 and Voyager from 96 (when it was introduced in Star Trek First Contact) to the end of the series.... The basic design stayed the same in the Mark X ... Not really sure when it switched and what the differences are... The Mark XI was introduced in Star Trek Nemesis, but the LED's aren't as detailed and it only has a couple sets of sequencing lights...

  • wow

  • Very nice! * * * * *

  • Hey will you trade me anything for the tricorder i have the complete collection of the star trek movie replacas.

  • how did you build it ?

  • Mylar, glue, paint, and a ton of time... I also had a little bit of help from some friends on the circuitry... Good project that took close to 6 months to complete.

  • @bradleythekid did u like go to a time travel to 300 years from now or is it something just like from star trek like the movie

  • thats pretty cool

  • We're starting up a fan made Star Trek film project and looking for cool props like this. If you want to have your prop seen in a the Star Trek setting. contact us!

  • REALLY COOL!! YOU SHOULD SELL THEM IN E-Bay!!

  • That is an excellent Tricorder.

The LEDs are brighter than many I have seen.

    Nice job!

  • I like it very much, i'd love to have one myself :D

  • does it really make the sound, or was that added in post? Impressive with all the lights. killer prop, man.

  • When are you going to start on a 'transporter'?

  • Soon I will start on a whole set, transporter included.

  • hi again i just wanted to ask you were you got the sound effectcs from as i have my electronics now but no sound board is it possible if you could tell me in a private message were you got it.

    camtorchwood

  • if any one wants to build this tricorder just look on ebay type in "Build Star Trek Prop Replicas at Home" its only $22 USD you get 5 manuals and trust me its worth it and i know the guy very well i just ordered the lights from him you never know he might build one for you guys.

  • Thanks! That might save me some time in the future.

  • well i would be happy with just that plus making one from the manual takes a long time to create. the electronics just cost me $205 in USD and for me in britain its £99 so all in al its cost me £130 as the £30 is how much i got the tricorder for

  • Is there any chance that you will reveal how you built it? :)

  • I will explain to anyone... but it would take a while.

  • I guess a "How to build your own tricorder" manual would be handy. :)

  • i just need to ask where did you get the electronics from i have a mark x tricorder kit but need the electronics and did you use a manual to make this tricorder by mr mros

  • Believe it or not... The actually tricorder prop has no sound effects... Since it was built to be used on screen we just dubb in the sound effects... However, you can buy programmable sound board that alow you to add up to 8 different sound effects. If you are good with a read switch, you can activate the sounds the same way. I have actually seen people selling tricorder sound boards on ebay. Check it out! Sorry I couldn't help more.

  • Where did you get the tricorder sound effect?

I bet there is a website with the .wav or .mp3 of it..

You just made this in your spare time??

Did you use a microprocessor to control the leds?

    Awesome wrk.

  • martin saw this video and said to me "that's it lets go to mt. shasta right now so I can see it"

  • So when are you guys going to come down and see it?

  • whose big fat hairy hand is that!!
