It's possible to completely bypass getting the big key in this temple. If you do a damage boost across the chasm at 6:04 with the yellow bricks up, you can just skip getting the big key and at 6:25 you'll be able to go immediately left and down the stairs, through the hole on the next floor as well. You bypass having to unlock the door with your big key because the blue blocks are already down, and you can just push the left bottom brick down the hole. That alone would save you about 1:30.

Here are the requirements for 100% game completion: 100% is based on getting all items on the subscreen, all heart pieces, and max level of equipment except the bomb and arrow upgrades. The level 2 shield and blue mail can be skipped since they are replaced by the mirror shield & red mail.

If it was a TRUE 100% speed run, then the player would get the lv.2 shield and blue mail without skipping them.

For me 100% is every item, the max bombs and arrows from the fairy well, every room on the maps charted, every treasure chest gotten, yeah I'm weird like that.

When I first played this as a kid, I always had to get to the boss in level five the same way. It took me forever to figure out the "correct" way without using the cane. So for the longest time, I always had to do level 6 before level 5, as he did here. Great run.

I realize that. But this is in fact a 100% run. All the pieces of heart are also extra, but he got those. The bomb and arrow expansions are like the quivers in the 3D Zelda games. A 100% run isn't complete without them.

Pieces of Heart aren't extras. They're required in order to get a full Life meter, and thus necessary for a 100% run.

OMG does anyone listen? In a 100% run, there are NO extras. In a normal run, heart pieces are extras, and so are bomb and arrow expansions. In a 100% run, you have to get EVERYTHING or it isn't 100%. This is the equivalent of saying you got 100% in Ocarina of Time, but didn't get any of the bigger quivers, the bigger seed satchel, or the bigger bomb bag. It's not complete without them.

Uhm ever saw the Metroid Fusion hard mode 100% of speeddemosarchive? he doesen't get the varia suit. but when you get gravity suit you get varia inmediatly. same with the mail. And it's a 100% run if you get at the credtis: Items: 100%. to get that you dont need the expansions

I realize that anything that gets upgraded later doesn't need to be gotten, and I realize that the game recognizes 100% completion without expansions, but I'm saying that I don't consider it 100% because I'm not satisfied with a 100% completion unless I get 100% of all collectible items. So IN MY OPINION this isn't 100%.

This differs from OOT because the quiver and satchel expansions were ITEMS, whereas the upgrades here are just "wished" granted by the faerie, which is why it's considered a 100% run, since he got all of the ITEMS.

use the fire rod on that boss it makes him very easy to beat. it onlt takes about 6 shots if i remmeber rightly, which is unlikely.

Your supossed to push one of the blocks into the hole on the level right above this level (8:08). You have to lower the blue blocks on and then get back on the left side of the room and push the lock into the hole. The block then lands in front of the switch. But you can also use the red cane like he did.

Yeah he was smart and got it before this temple. I was not smart and had to do it the long way, by pushing blocks. Bit I guess thats why this guy can do a speed run and it took be months to beat this game.

You go to the cave on the far right near where you got Zora's flippers. You exchange your regular Boomerang by dropping it into the water and wait for the fairy to ask you whether or not you dropped anything in it. When she says 'Did you drop this?' say 'Yes' and she will give you the red Magical Boomerang in return.

It also works for the level 2 shield so don't forget that, Drop your puny shield in and she asks the same question and then say yes and she will give you a shield that deflects fireballs.
