Best kept secret in Rock N Roll, that and holy shit did Billy Joe Armstrong take one look at Frankie and say hey thats what a punk rock front man should look like?
I was at LH that night too! Met "cidney" and had beef with some Scarbourough wannabe punk. Got put up for the night at 52 div. (ugly yellow cop cars back then smelled of urine)....Gord Lewis was always hammered at gigs (I seen The Head 7-8 times in Hamtown, T.O. and Kitchener at the Chooch) and he usually sounded "jaggy". Bendeth was much cleaner and knew the tunes. Good job posting this clip mate.
That JD Roberts is a top dog on CNN now eh? Bloody traitor.
Partyed down with this band in the heyday, was there at the riot at Ontario Place, when we all got locked out...ya, these cats were ripped off by everyone...i tried to buy one of the old records, now on DVD and the store owner sd. something was in a legal battle.fuck that.
I seen this show @ LH (yes I'm old too) I met with "cidney" that night and got dragged into 52 Div for fighting some wanker....my ears were ringing all night. It was great. Lewis was always hammered at gigs and sounded shaky. You were way better. Those were the days....
I was at this show. Took lots of pics. David Bendeth was fab. John Roberts before he became a big-shot. Gordy injured himself at the worst possible time in their career. They never recovered. Love 'Some Kinda Fun'
Lewis had such a killer guitar tone and sense of rhythm. His parts were basic yet perfect. David Bendith filling in here is interesting to see. He ain't know Gordie, the magic wasn't there with him. David produced their records and was not loved by the band, I have heard he was a contributing factor to their lack of American Success. So seeing this is vindication for Gordie! Rock On Head!!!
Man, this is awesome! I've loved this band for a while now, but since footage of them is quite hard to find (until now) I hadn't seen them in any interview... Thanks for the post!

@hamtownboy: Expecting him to still be a rock music journalist is kind of dumb-he's in his late 50's now.

Frankie Venom was a Jumper! He could leap tall mic stands.
I can't find any clips of him spazing out!

The song being performed is a cover of "Brand New Cadillac" by Vince Taylor, 1959

I wish I looked like that now. If the band did not like me they certainly should not have hired me for two records!! DUH.

Great Clip, I grew up loving this band. My own
career was largely inspired by this band. Gordie
