  • Funny do watch that they didn't have plyo then, only a wooden floor.....

  • wtf around 6:55 there's a man flying in the air in the right top corner haha!

  • The guy doing the 'power tumbling' may have bad form on some of the skills BUT look at the neatness on his double back ! no cowboying like Bokinskaya to increase rotation!! all on mats aswell ! wow

  • NAME THESE GYMNAST

The Tumbler has a look of Dusty Ritter from Vegas and US Jr. Coach butttt.... to big to be him I think. annnd... not sure Dusty is old enough to be that guy anyway. anyone else care to guess.

  • you'll never see that 1 handed handstand these days.

  • @360isbest1

check out tim "livewire" shief (youtube user 99timshi). He's pretty much the undisputed king of handstands. And he's great at 1 handed handstands.

  • These guys are beasts! I love the swinging rings in the background, and the double-twist punch front. The guy was rebound tumbling decades before anybody else! And on a wrestling mat (if that). Great stuff.

  • have yOU SEEN my flIPPING vIDEO iN cRASH prOMO i DO A DOuble full On concrete---- NOw say OUch

  • @SuperKidcrash what this guy is doing is way more ouch because hes not wearing shoes

  • @backflipboy27 I did a double full on concrete with no sneakers

  • @SuperKidcrash doubt it

  • Um, this is slowed down, right?

Is that a hard floor? Wow, those handsprings and tucks must have hurt!

I remember reading that people didn't care about god form on handstands until recently. I now see that it was true.

Nice tumbling on the strip, which couldn't have been much softer. Was that part of artistic gymnastics, or was it separate?

  • Yes it is quite hard on the feet and hands but the technique is very different to soft or sprung floor tumbling. actually hard floor acrobats don't tend to suffer the compound injuries that sprung floor gymnasts often do, because they are not slamming their bodys at the ground to get hight out of the floor they are using their legs.

Regarding the handstand, It is not that people did not care about good form it is actually just that the "correct" form has changed significantly over the years

  • lol they used the same arena that they had basketball in 0:07

  • wow no padding underneath! (high bar) can you imagine how much it would hurt if they fell?

  • how culd they do it on wood???? i noe a friends dad that broke the bars and tumbled on wood

  • We do it on concrete no biggy lol

  • o.o

  • @EddieWFR yeah we do but not bare foot! these guys are pretty skills

  • @finn030692 haha true dat i was only joking :P.

  • This video kicks ass... these guys are tumbling on wood !!!!

Great hi-bar. Would love to see more of the swinging rings.

    Great, Great video !!!

  • why in slow motion

  • wow thats a difference there...

some of the moves r flowing and nice but they got lost along the way somehow...

the guy running from the hallway was more than silly...but hey...those were the times...

i think i saw the swingin rings in the background..now thats really interesting if it was done like that before..

  • dannggg gymnastics has progessed so much since then o.o"

  • i can do all of the tumbling except the front tuck but i can do a back tuck.

  • You are a retard. There are just as many male gymnasts as there are females.

  • @animebabe94 wow... shows how well publicized men's gymnastics is

  • wow people got a lot better on floor

  • No, the floor changed. I could beat all the ones shown here, if I could do it on plyo. But they are doing it on fricking hardwood. And that is just silly scary.

  • wow its kinda gay but cool

  • Thanks for the video. I love watching the old stuff. It has changed so much.

Do you have any footage of the swinging rings? (Other than in the background of the high bar segment.)

  • genuine bad asses. Full on a basketball court-insane.

  • ONe handed handstand i think thats awsome!!

  • i'm glad they have safety rules now :)

  • 7:53 till the end: i never thought they had such difficulties and that on wooden floor

  • the tumble set at 8:33 is dope.

  • you know whats funny, my coach used to tell me how he tumbled on wrestling matts. these guys did it on wood!

  • The handstand combo at around 2:00 is incredible!

  • 7:50 amazing

  • till the end

  • 1:03 scared me i though he was going to land on his back. 4:48 is sweet.

  • wow my dad used to do gymnastics on wood floor and so now that we have nice soft bouncy floor i feel so grateful that i dont have to land on hardness...

  • Poor guys. They deserved better than a wooden floor :|

  • wooden floor LOL

so many times I saw them slip... sure am glad they changed the flooring standard :o

  • This is from about 1962?

  • who wears short shorts he wears short shorts

  • gosh, hurts just to watch. tumbling on a wooden floor.ouch!!

  • No one CAres Below ME

    He is dead good

  • poor guy, doing floor ex. on the wooden floor :|

i tried doing that, my knee killed for like a week but i sucked back then

    lmao

  • who wears short shorts lol

  • HE WEARS SHORT SHORTS

    LMAO

  • no mats ouch!!!

  • 9:05 he lands on the wooden floor, ouch!!

  • roflcoptur

  • you know you're skilled when you can tumble on a wooden floor!

    that'd hurt like a bitch!

  • lol

  • lol loving the dudes running in through a door for their tumbling runs! and agreeing with audie with the swinging rings dude. what the hell!!!!!!!

    dam fantastic tho :D

  • thts jus a lil weird..those r sum short shorts lol

  • Those high bar dismounts were just awesome-and incredibly dangerous without even a proper mat to land on. And you've gotta love the guy on the swinging rings!! :)

  • Gymnastics with no floor mat. These pioneers of the sport were just awesome-and courageous. They did moves I think most of us wouldn't dare to try on such rustic equipment.

  • what kind of shorts. are those daisydukes LOL

  • Guys wore short shorts for gymn in those days. I watched a late 1960's film "To Sir With Love" and the guys in gym wore those same Peter Pan shorts lol!

  • True Grit, but damn those shorts look soooo gay.

    Almost wedgie like.

  • aweson

  • on the wooden floor on the first guys floor exercise what if he did the tuck back and changed his mind and landed on his head lol ouuch!!!!!

  • thats why they changed to having padded floor excersise mats. because too many people got hurt.

  • :-)

  • OMG! They did it on wooden floor?

    Ouch

  • maybe the floor exercise is much more stylish than today they got funny moves!!

  • No mats for floor? Ouch!

  • Was that Abe Grossfeld on floor X. I saw a full twisting Butterfly.

  • Was this back in your day Don? ;-)

    insightgymnastics...

  • funny guy

  • OMG what level was this guy, and lol at the random guy swinging on rings

  • that skill at 4:48 on high bar was bloody awesome.

  • crazy, awesome n weird...

  • anyone else agree that 01:05 has a great takeoff but REALLLLLLLLLLLLY SCARY?

  • I agree! i thought he was gonna die

  • how springy is that mat they were tumbling on towards the end?

  • Oh and lol at the guy in the background swinging on the rings. I never knew they did that?

  • HAHAHA like around 6:42!!! HAHAHA.

  • so old but still impressing!

  • I agree! I certainly wouldn't want to tumble on that floor!

  • lol im cheerleader from mexico, for state championships and regionals we do have to tumble on basket ball courts and floors like that =P

i had my round-off bhs full bhs bhs bck-tuck past June! =D

  • Well I have shin splints as it is. Tumbling on a wooden floor certainly wouldn't help, but I do take my hat off to anyone who can do it!

  • same with me!

    standing btwist was sick haha!

  • I'd blow out knees, joints, and ankles if I even tried to do that stuff on a wooden basketball court. Amazing. Olympic and World Championships were held in high school gyms for years until stars like Latynina, Czaslavska came along-in Europe. It was after Olga Korbut that they hired arenas for events and sold out exhibitions at Madison Square Garden because of Olga, and Nadia. :)
