  • They release: We are only riders 2, soon.

  • Link Wray > The Stooges > New York Dolls > The Cramps / The Gun Club > Dinosaur JR > Nirvana > John Spencer Blues Explosion > The White Stripes > The Horrors.

  • Patricia Morrison owns on this version. Yellow Submarine!

  • Jeffrey lee pierce and mitch hedberg both died on my birthday what the fuck?

  • this is just great....really i love this music

  • YOU KNOW WHAT THIS KIND OF REMINDS ME OF? The Misfits. Btw, this is my first time listening to this band. i like it.

  • @JohnnyLovelyMusicVid The Misfits are the tip of the iceberg baby.

  • This is my 'new' band I'm slowly discovering...was loosely aware of them back in the day from reading 'Sounds' & other such adolescent nonsense...in my blinkered youth, I assumed them to be just another shite goth band... how wrong I was!

  • there all great on there own

  • Fucking great

  • great band

  • The Doors>The Gun Club>Nirvana

  • Best DVD ever!

  • i saw them in bristol once...the music and jeff's vocals are so raw and genuine....spalooooosh RIP

  • Death Party lineup!

  • Me gusta me gusta y me gusta!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg i just got into them thanx to jacki and meg white. but they are even more better live i think im going to learn how to play them on my acoustic guitar!!!!! i agree with dueceecaboose they really are good and if people were into them then they could have made it but they got 4 albums outta it and thats good for an underground band

  • my band does our own version of this song ! not as good of course but its a tribute to one of the best forgotten bands :D

  • What ever happen'd to the house on highland hill. "Brilliant"

  • oi! long beach SkinheadS!

  • Comment removed

  • Gun Club is undoubtedly one of the greatest bands ever. Jeffrey also wrote one of the greatest songs ever recorded: Wildweed.

  • متخلفين وربي كس امكم

  • f'n amazing!

  • Beautiful! I feel violated in a good way

  • GREAT performance!

    Im stunned!

  • Fire of Love is a gem. This clip gives ya an idea how they could be live.Totally underrated.

  • best punk. impressive!!!

  • Earn way more credits than Nirvana. Gonna put all their songs here on the tube!

  • Wow- sounds very Danziggy. Just heard these guys for the first time. Awesome!

  • @jonathanbrowning50 Sounds like Danzig?

  • In November Glitterhouse Records will release a tribute album with Jeffrey Lee Pierce songs called "We are only riders" with

exklusive material from: Nick Cave, The Raveonettes, Lydia Lunch, Deborah Harry, David Eugene Edwards, Mark Lanegan/Isobel Campbell, The Sadies, Crippled Black Phoenix, Bells On The River, Cypress Grove, Johnny Dowd, Mick Harvey, Crippled Black Phoenix and David Eugene Edwards. Linernotes from Wim Wenders and Henry Rollins.

    Must be great stuff!

  • @wer49

just listened to tthe samples of this collection on amazon...and bought it. cant wait to get it!

  • I saw the Gun Club in the early nineties and it was heartbreaking. Jeffrey Lee Pierce was in a really bad strate and the rest of the band looked like they'd rather be someplace else. He was SO out of it... he started insulting the audience for no reason at all and he blew all his lyrices... sad. Still, I'm a huge fan. I just wish I caught them at a better time.

  • omg is that Alice Bag on bass???

  • no, Pat Bag (Patricia Morrisson).... who is absolutely beautiful. And "Fire Of Love" is a stone classic. I saw them twice--once in '81, where they were incredible and a few years after that, where Jeffrey Lee could barely function. Sad...

  • close. its pat bag

  • their live stuff is awesome. i don't usually like like stuff.

  • I am so jealous of whomever was there....

Darby Crash was a genius too.

  • Jeffrey is great <3

  • Pat Bag <3

  • I just heard Fire of Love for the first time a few days ago and I'm amazed by it. How come it's not more well-known? It's perfect.

  • I always liked that jlp looked like marlon brandos son. two truly wild men.

  • in the ten ring

  • Mutante, you forgot about all the people in The Ramones.

  • we still have bob

  • Lux Interior, Ron Asheton, Syd Barret, Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Darby Crash, Ian Curtis, John Lennon, Keith Moon, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson.

we can say that Rock And Roll is dead

  • Why Darby Crash?

  • seriously, Darby Crash? that's like saying any of those other no talent hacks like Sid Vicious or GG Allin.

George Harrison? Johnny Thunders? Stiv Bators? Rozz Williams? Brian Jones? Layne Staley?

and when Iggy Pop, Bowie, and Lou Reed all die, ROCK WILL OFFICIALLY BE DEAD.

  • Rock is already dead. As if any of those guys are currently creating anything remotely interesting.

That doesn't mean we can't still listen to old Velvet Underground records.

  • ok when you will sit down and decipher the lyrics written by a man with 180 IQ then ill read and maybe consider what you say, but until then what you have said or typed rather, means nothing.

  • love it.

  • they like men

  • This is fucking energy. Why does the music now lack of it?

  • Most of the new "artists" I hear completely lack conviction. They come off like people trying to be something they're not most of the time. It's plenty loud and in-your-face, but leaves you cold because it's not real or even interesting.

  • this song is fucking crazy I love it

  • Otra gran leyenda del rock subterraneo. ¡Que energía! Mi linea favorita... "we can fuck forever but you will never get my soul"... SEX BEAT!

  • They said JLP couldn't sing and his band couldn't play. Why is this so unreal?

  • Great stuff. They don't make 'em like that anymore

  • Best.Live.Performance.Ever.

  • god bless you uploader for saving this nice piece

  • this makes me happy.

  • Gun Club got some play on WMUH 91.7 FM in the early 80s but not enough.

  • patti was lookin nice as usual

  • you know what kills me? when this was taped, very few people knew about gun club (even fewer than know about them today). the irony is that there were people THEN saying, "you know, there's no good music these days." bullshit. too bad for them, because they missed out. there's ALWAYS good music somewhere. you just have to know where to look.

  • THANK YOU

  • @duececaboose ...Well said!...

  • @duececaboose

No music like the Gun Club..

  • @duececaboose F*** right dude. Even In F rance U can find some!

  • @duececaboose Hey man, what you say is so true! By the way, I'm happy to see comments which aren't "This is crap!" style with "You think this is crap? Well, then, you're shit!" replies. I think your point of view is quite accurate.

  • Comment removed

  • @duececaboose This is soooooo true...

  • @duececaboose dude. yep, you said it.

  • @duececaboose Too right. It's out there, even now. Seek and thee shall find,

  • @duececaboose AMEN.

  • @duececaboose i agree

  • jeff is the best i had see the at Rodon club Athens in 1987 great!!!!

  • I wish I could have seen this band live.

  • the fukin gun club i love it!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jeffrey rules...the best song in the glam-punk history

  • One of Cal punk's finest...

  • We all live in a yellow submarine!

  • Anarchy in here!!!!

    Give guns the the queers!

The world will eat itself so enjoy!

    Nice work Jeff. Still.

    A+.

  • hahaha, this is so awesome

  • Wish everyone would stop saying how "doped" he was....WHo the fuck wasn't???

And who cares. Amazing music! My favorite band and thank you for posting this even with the dumb comment in the info.

  • We were all on "dope" then...some of us survived. That is all.

  • this much better than the album version

  • reminds me of vince neil a lot

  • Too fuckin' cool! That's where it's at.

  • I miss the Gun Club!

  • A truly brilliant band that made a difference.

  • menudo personaje¡ xD

  • creo que era uno de esos grupos que crean emociones mucho mas alejadas de lo meramente musical, reconozco que no entiendo sus letras pero me puedo hacer una vaga idea de un submundo oscuro y radical, ieeeeeeaaaaaaa

  • The Doors were a bunch of wax dummies fronted by a drunken poseur asshole. Gun Club were gods.

  • Dude. I love this song. A lot.

But this performance was just awful. Well I mean, the band was good enough, but Jeffrey Lee Pierce's singing sucked.

  • the doors of punk rock

  • fuck the doors. one of the most overrated bands of all time. cookie cutter blues with some odd keyboard bits thrown in. as for morrisson's "poetic" lyrics, all he did was rip off and or quote aldous huxley. and as far as his stage presence, he wasnt a dynamic performer. just a drunk.

gun club are leagues better than the doors.

  • "It wasn´t their fault that punk had not been invented yet."

First of all, yes it had.

second of all, what does that even mean, and what are you trying to prove?

  • I just meant that Bands like the Gun Club combined the lyrical and musical approach of bands like The Doors with the Energy of Punk. The result was some kind of Blues-Punk or whatever you would call it. Even for me as great Doors fan the Doors sound quite "static" sometimes, I wished they would have rocked more. But that may be my very personal opinion... Yes, Garage punk had been there already, and The Stooges, OK, but not the Sex Pistols. That was a whole new chapter...

  • that's exactly what i meant

  • I saw the Gun Club twice, in 1985 and 1987 in Stuttgart. They were fantastic. On the last show Jeffrey was totally slim. I´ve made some photos 1985 and I put them onto my M.Sp._Site. Check em out. if you like

  • Great! I love this band. Too bad i was born a decade too late and never got to see them.

I have to get the new documentary Ghost On The Highway.

  • A little reminder of a time when rock music was dangerous, unpredictable ..and meant something. The good, the bad, the drugs, the horror, Apocalypse Now ..right up there with Elvis and Colonel Kurtz, scaring the shit out of his own men while drifting into oblivion. A true American.. in a way. This is no pop music, honey..

  • this band is great.... the smacked out performance is sad and pathetic, however.

  • too bad you think it's sad and pathetic i think it's cool because it's not like the studio or even most live versions. i like how me mixes up the rhythme to the lyrics

  • I truly fuckin miss and love Gun Club and all the great bands of the 70-80's.

Was Patricia M. ever also known as Pat Bag from the Bags?

They played New Orleans back in the day and he was so wasted, but amazing. Jeffrey RIP.

  • Yeah, she's Pat Bag alright.

  • yes p morrison was in the bgs, i think she may have been in a band called castration squad as well, never heard them but they can be found

  • hey is that henry and mike spent? its freakshow lol

  • greatest l.a. band ever-----jlp was genius-----thank you to the person who has posted all this great footage----never thought i would see it again

  • Yellow submarine man!

    Punky JLP style ;)

  • Saw them live many a time...and they meant it!

It was always rough and right!

    Nice...

  • I know exactly what you mean, pelle3948

    sthlm is extra boring

  • This is amazing.

  • LOL he barely sang a word correctly, awesome!

  • "HELLO MOM!" ???

    HAHAHAHA GREAT

  • GC is one of my favourite groups. Great punk sound.

  • This is great! I saw this band in my hometomn, Stockholm,Sweden somewhere around 1982 something, they were brilliant! They actually encouraged Richard Hell to come here because they said the crowd was great. Nowadays, unfortunutly this is not true, I am really pissed off with the other swedes, they just want to listen and don´t give a shit energy back to the bands. I normally feel ashamed every time I go to a consert nowadays, because the audience is so boring.

  • some might disagree but i think the "dope" made this version of the song really kick ass, not like the studio version but still kick ass

  • god i love this band i love this guy ..

vote ron Paul so we can freedom to take drugs and not get the g -men to come after us

  • that would mean letting the republicans once again control this country, and that i can't do, considering i'm gunna do whatever drugs i want no matter who the fuck's in office, i live in florida, and you know what they say, EVERYDAY'S A VACATION!!

  • You're an idiot.

Why does it matter if there is another Republican president?

Support the Republican party, don't support big government communists like the Democrats.

  • i'm an idiot? i don't recall anyone asking your opinion at all. and mother fucker if you don't see that they've fucked everything up from the economy to our relations with other countries you're blind, or retarded. i didn't push my political agenda on anyone don't push yours off on me cause it won't work. fucking retard.

  • hey dude Ron Paul is republican in name only .. he is a libertarian ., the democrats suck

that is not a social welfare program that the dems! do not support .they want to control every facet of our life ..

  • I LEFT A COMMENT ABOUT HOW JEFFERY BEING FUCKED UP IN THIS VIDEO MADE IT DIFFERENT AND FUN TO WATCH AND LISTEN TOO, ALL YOU PEOPLE GOT TO SAY IS BULLSHIT ABOUT POLITICS AND LETTING THE REPUBLICANS CONTROL US AGAIN, PUT US INTO ANOTHER WAR, START THE DRAFT, CAUSE AN UPRISING, A FUCKING CIVIL WAR WILL INSUE IF YOU GET REPUBLICANS IN OFFICE, MARK MY WORDS, if not then we're fucking retards, i'm not any party, fuck politics

  • hey you can fuck politics all you wants but these people want to control our lives except for Ron Paul

    Wise up

  • u know whats gay about this thread? turning a great, energetic song/video like this into a political debate. honestly suck a dick anyone who dropped the terms democrat or republican or ron paul up in here. you've missed the point and ur cluttering up space.

  • you wasted all this space to chastize me. gammarkler .. i want sexual freedom and this country is going ion the wrong direction . we have no freedoms in the usa anymore and this country is going to collapse..

but i love the gun club and this song..

    peace brother..

  • gosh. you have the intelligence of a flea. i love this song and this group and it is very sad that a person of your low humanity likes this video also. go back in your hole.

Vote Bob Barr for freedom and justice. libertarianism lives

  • watch 1 ron paul video, takes 2 minutes bro.

  • i saw him on either face the nation or meet the press and he made an ass of him self tripping over his past statments even just denying some stuff. he seems like a normal guy which i like but at the same time he's just another suit wanting money and power. he doesn't have his shit straight from what i could tell, richardson should have atleast came close because he has experience working with the middle east. republicans are untrustworthy.

  • in addition i love this guy from the gun club and i have this album and CD dude !!!

  • fucking a! awesome

    rest in peace my man

  • Maybe on dope, but still rocking, alive and kicking.

  • this great band from california had one of my favourite band names..THE GUN CLUB...

fucking amazing band..at least they get the recognition they deserve nowdays...

    Rest in piece Jeffrey

  • Thanks for this.

  • exciting

    oooohh...sex beat...go!!!

  • fucking awesome...thank you

    RIP J.L.P.

  • "We can fuck forever but you'll never get my soul."

  • Thanks for posting this. What a great band! I wish I had gotten into them instead of Poison and Motley Crue shit. I was only 7 at the time so gimmie a break.

  • cazzo che grande canzone.

    myspace dot com/teeyou

let me know what you think

  • a "my space " page. ugh. they're dead.

  • I saw The Gun Club right after Fire of Love came out. Jeffrey was pretty fucked up, barely finished the show, but then again who wasn't fucke up that night.

  • Me too - at the 930 Club in Wash DC, round this same time. I knew he would die, probably someday soon - but god, what a show...

  • i missed that show. he was one of the greatest singers of al timew. but i never saw him

  • saw them at the el-n-gee club in new london CT, not sure of the year but may have been 90 or 91..great show

  • sometimes i dont like it when they have this pause in their music. that is only thing i do not like about it. It is not in this song. this is the best song they ever did

  • Wow. You should be a journalist.

  • waht did he die of . this is a great song. this heis its b est song.

  • He died of a brain hemorrhage...but was very ill due to liver disease before hand...

  • i keep coming back to this song it really is GREAT so much rock and roll meets blues..

better than the rolling stones even. we need somone like this guy now

  • nice poodle haircut on the bassplayer at the end there,

    by the way

  • Ha.

Patricia Morrison fucking owns you, and you know it!

  • WHO IS PATRICIA MORRISON??

  • The Bassist in this video. Most famous for playing with Floodland Era Sisters of Mercy, now taking maternity leave from bass duties in The Damned (is married to Dave Vanian).

  • THE DRUMMER AND THE GUITARIST ARE ALSO GREAT. i LOVE THE SISTERS OF MERCEY/. bUT I WAS DIAPPOINTED WHEN I SAW THEM IN CONCERT RECENTLY.

i LOVE THE WORK MY THE SISTER FEELING CALLING

  • That's great.

    But please stop shouting.

  • hi can you tell me what bands tha tyou like after 2000, I am not keeping up wiht the new bands and i want to get some new stuff waht gothic or inestrial do you realy like that is brand new??

  • wut the hell is he saying

  • lookup the lyrics jackoff

  • excellent - thanks so much for posting

  • compelling

  • Weekend fuck forever but you will never get my soul...

  • We can.....

  • Ahhh, Jeffrey Lee. . . Now there was one fucked up laddie. This song for him was like Jimi and "Red House". You could see him do it 4 nights running and it'd be different and strangely amazing each time. He's really pissed off here, really disaffected and hostile. Maybe someone stepped on his boy or shorted the count or something. Quite lovely.

  • beatiful
