I think you are mistaken about these "carmelite monks". It is a very common error. They are CINOs. Carmelites in name only. If you read any of the constitutions of the Discalced Carmelites or the O.Carm's (the real traditional orders) you will find that carmelites are always mendicant, never monastics. They draw support off the "carmelite" name, primarily from people who dont know any better and yet live more like cloistered nuns. It is very shallow, yet gives the impression of depth
@zhiracco Shallow? Carmelites were originally hermits. This monastery, along with the Carmelite hermitage in MN, are seeking that ancient eremitical Carmelite life.
I spend 5 days every year at a Carmelite Friary at Aylsford in Kent UK. They were driven out in 1539 and returned in 1949. A truly wonderful place to be.
I believe this comment reveals a misunderstanding of the Carmelite Order...Carmelites around the world come from many ethnic communities and operate many ministries serving those who are marginalized
so Carmelites play organ?

Since they take vows of poverty that means they cannot even TV or internet access am I right? Also that coffee they make, is it sold in stores?

Yes, this is from the Notre Dame CD. I listen to it all the time when I write letters and do Homework. Great CD, Holy Monks, and Tasty Coffee.
