  • "he spent his entire fortune" Russel never had a fortune to spend on anything. Another lie.

  • don't forget 1941

  • If you associate with the Witness keep this scripture in mind: (8)"LOVE never fails. But whether there are gifts of prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with. (9) For we have PARTIAL knowledge and we prophesy Partially. (10) But when that which is complete arrives, that which is partial shall be done away with.” 1 CORINTHIANS 13: 08, 09, 10

  • Russell was a true-prophet, just a little off on his time frame. I guess you could say he was ahead of his time. What he said, will come to pass. "Expectations".. How do you know this was not set into motion by the Holy Spirit in order to teach the next generation a lesson. A lesson that needs be learned over and over again apparently. No one but the Father knows the date and time.

  • @RealityDefenseLeague ::: A lesson in reality... We are here for ~80 years, then we lose our physical body. JWs say we soul-sleep. But 1 Samuel 28:15 and 19, those who have had NDEs, tell a different story. Mark 9:1 says the kingdom is already here. There is no pie in the sky - we die and then live on in one of those 'many mansions' that have been prepared for us.

  • Ok, look at bible history! I ask you, does God hate killing? Yes, of course! One of the 10 commandments! Well, then why would God instruct King David & Saul to kill the Philistines? Also, hav'nt all people been subjected to sometimes "fatal" mistakes & misinterpretations by the Catholic church & others? And messed up about when in the future things will happen? Sure they have! Why didn't you think of this, as I did? I'm an ex-JW, they've got it "as humanly right, as is possible"! Peace to you!

  • @geetarnut What's your point? From what I've seen and experienced, being raised as JW, they are no better than any other religion. They make out that they are, but in truth, no better than others.

  • I understand your trying to make what you see as the faults of the witnesses, evident to people. The problem is, you are too short sighted. No insult intended! Because I can tell that you are sincerely trying to inform people, that's commendable! But, I must remind you of our human history, which is "full" of mistakes and "so-called" lies that you try to bring up here. Due to limited writing space, I will make a further comment to finish my explanation! Thanks for reading my reply!

  • @archeng123 the interesting phrase I learned from the excellent seventh day adventist vid was "the great disappointment"....be well.

  • I knew from family that about half stayed as Russellites, the other half went on to become Jehovah's Witnesses, I have to say the costumes etc in Part one, great production values, but did not tell about Maria Russell (she helped write his books) and the divorce trial that was in new york newspapers in that era. a girl, 15, was sitting on the Pastor's lap and later sent to another country. Maria needed to get her money back as well.

  • OMG look at Chuck's beard.....and a heavenly reward....times changed.

  • what i find amazing, is a man can walk into a room, uninspired, and proclaim" the gentile times have ended". huh? who has the arrogance to think they are somehow able to KNOW this, and, lead others to believe it? You do NOT see most churches EVER doing that. it takes a high level of pride to do that

  • The watchtower awake magazine contained this statement "Most importantly, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new order before the generation that saw the events of 1914 C.E passes away". WTF? Absolute bullshit and lies from the borganisation!!

  • great analysis!!!...Russel probably was an "accidental" false prophet in his time,,,he was zealous in his own way,,,but that work just made lot more damage in believers,,,Jesus foretold that event anyway,,,, Matthew 24:23,24,,, the organisation build up on those expectations....they are don't even straight enough to take the history of their own,,,,,,Denying History..blame shifting, show kind of panicking!!...may be a couple of people might have to go back to work if the real truth comes up?!!

  • russel put his own ideas in his religion? And who's ideas r you trying to get us to believe? Yours. Sheesh

  • And mistakes are mistakes, but they aren't killing anyone, at least as 'cults' go. My cousins left with freedom, no hackling or anger, but a respect to their decision, as far as transfusions go, they can easily accept them instead to die, if they wanted, because they aren't forced. But I beleive that usually, personally anyway as well, just because of my own fear of what's in other ppls' blood

  • Actually I agree with the Onlinepoetrycafe, the reason of slaughter and rape twrd them was actually because of the national political party, hence the party card itself.I do respect them with their beleif in bein neutral in governmnt, particularly when it came to the holocaust n they were the only 1s being able to sign over their religious beliefs to get out. They can make their own decisions, like my cousins who came out from them becuz they chose, but most deaths are bold from them in my opinion

  • Well, this 'cult' as you say made a mistake, and we can see it was as a big deal as the mistakes made by others: Jonestown, Branch Davidians (Waco), Solar Temple..!? Dude get a grip of urself, religion is religion, beliefs are beliefs, mistakes are mistakes but they ain't killing anyone. Preaching door to door and we think it's the worst thing by far for making mistakes that weren't shown to light earlier. Religion isn't what it used to be, but after this whining, I don't think I care to embrace

  • @Onlinepoetrycafe "They ain't killing anyone??"...are you kidding me? Imagine all the ones who don't take blood transfusions and die because of this religions' man made policy . Imagine the JWs who couldn't take organ transplants years ago (they changed the policy in 1980). Imagine the JW's who were brutally slaughtered and raped in Malawi because JW's wouldn't buy a party card (but yet it was ok for Mexican JW's to bribe military officials to obtain a cartilia card). So think about it.....

  • @WakeUpWitness I think of how none of them are dying as you say they are. At least, not under the swords of their own. If the leaders of nations want to kill them, or even extremists, for preaching the good news, then I guess what you're really saying is that death for them is as important as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, when they were about to suffer the same fate, being brutally slaughtered and raped for religious standhold would even be my honor instead of just saying 'i am' a budhist.

  • Then if what you say is true, and (being that I'm certainly against transfusions personally, neway) since I'm curious. Maybe I'll open the door the next time for one of these so called 'cult' members to see if they can prove from the bible, and if or if not it has the backing of their beliefs in strong texts from a different, yet respectable holy book. Because if they do, or evn if I learn more about them from writings, then that must mean they do something better than 1/2 religions newhere else

  • @WakeUpWitness Some people are in denial......line to bring people in to the organization....is the dangling carrot called 'ever-lasting life'.......people are desperate to cling on to any hope for mankind.

  • @WakeUpWitness how can they ok organ transplants but not blood transfusion. don't our organs have our blood running thru them?

  • @WakeUpWitness All of the examples u mention are personal choices,no one forces u to be a JW, if u don't like the rules or guidelines no one is forcing u to be there, if u decide that your life is more important than being a JW (which many people have thought) send your letter of disassociation and get the transfussion,Onlinepoetrycafe is right, there is no need to put down other people's belief, those guys who knocked down the towers felt that they needed everyone to believe like they did also

  • @Mustanich Well,

The only issue I have, is that in order for my family to continue to speak to me I STILL HAVE TO FOLLOW A MAN MADE CONCEPTIONAL POLICY BY NOT disassociating myself. I remain in-active for them...and for them only. I know the organization is a total sham. I believe in God and and his Son Jesus Christ and the Ransom Sacrifice he made for us. I do not believe that the Society is the almighty "truth" and that they were selected in 1919 by Jesus as a Faithful and Discreet Slave.

  • @Onlinepoetrycafe That is one ignorant comment... get out of this false religion before you're called on to answer for their sins. And don't bother to say you aren't a JW, no one would defend these nut jobs if they weren't.

  • @huffdawgs8 Speaking as a man from the streets, where I'm from, they preached to anyone, even us who couldn't even 'afford' church from those stupid rich pastors. Defend? Ya, to whatever I can. Given a message from the bible and to have my spiritual need be recognized... freely.. a rich boyo like you could never understand. lol! What do you mean out? I don't do the preaching, but I surely will always root them on, as a favor from them in my past. : D!

  • @Onlinepoetrycafe You are, simply put, a complete idiot...

  • @huffdawgs8 Usually that's what people think of people from the streets in America. lol

  • @Onlinepoetrycafe I've known plenty of intelligent people "from the streets", you are just a ignorant fool, it wouldn't matter where you came from.

  • even if the world didnt end what happend? world war? the fact that in 1914 we had world war 1 just shows how accurate they are !

  • @TheMzwake They never pointed to "World War 1". It was sheer coincidence that world war 1 happened in 1914. Besides, world war 1 happened in the summer of 1914 when Russell proclaimed they were going to heaven in October of 1914 and that the world war was leading up to armagedon. Russell proclaimed that 1914 was the end of the last days, not the beginning. C.T. Rusell was a genuine...snake oil, peddler of paradise, false prophet. He would be disfellowshipped today for what he taught.

  • @WakeUpWitness good point on CT saying heaven was in october, world war one is a valid historical study, new book the Sorrow and the Beauty and the wonderful movie HUGO in 3-D....neat era.

  • @TheMzwake read the Sorrow and the Beauty also the royals were killed it started world war one but tensions were there in that poetic era BEFORE that in letters artists wrote to each other.

  • Thanks for the 3 reviews/commentary. I watched the DVD when it came out after my JW mom asked if I wanted to watch it. I'll have to go back and watch for the specifics, but I just felt like there were gaping holes in it. And I don't know much about the history, but I've watched enough documentaries to notice gaps in the narrative. And sadly for my mom, I still think her religion of choice is no different from all the others.

  • If you don't like the religion why do you go and view there videos

  • @adg1112 I view the videos To find out if it is is indeed "the truth".....from their history and the way they have blantly lied.....IT IS NOT "THE TRUTH". Jehovah's Witnesses are no different than any other religion out there.......they lie!

  • @WakeUpWitness I am a witness and they have never lied. They only made mistakes. And people should get over it. Its been almost 100 years since 1914, and 40 years since 1975.

  • @adg1112 make mistakes = not divinely inspired / indistinguishable from any other religion.

    Get over yourself.

  • @WakeUpWitness is'nt it a fact that you were expelled from Jehovah's witnesses?

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT: LEAVE !!! Armageddon is coming over everyone. Let God be the jude

  • @joepiedepoepie1000 I wasn't expelled at all...I became an in-active Jehovah's witness. they have nothing to expell me for. And, I didn't like it...that's why I did leave. There is no armegeddon coming.....the bible is "The Greatest Story Ever Told". If there was a god, he would fix the world and end the suffering. I see no proof that a god exists.

  • ERKI-VOTTINN CHARLES TAZE RUSSEL TÓK UPP

    Á ÞVÍ AÐ GEISPA GOLUNNI 31 OKTÓBER 1916 !

  • He had spent HIS entire fortune !!!! ?????

    What about:

WILLIAM HENRY CONLEY (11 June 1840 - 25 July 1897), the Pittsburgh businessman.

(THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF THE WATCH TOWER SOCIETY

was a prosperous Pittsburgh businessman named

    WILLIAM HENRY CONLEY (1840-97).)

  • I to was challenged to know the truth about the real history of the JW’s when I was one, and eventually did read old JW literature that was frowned upon by the society, and sure enough the truth was reveal that they Twist the truth and false prophets. These guys there in Brooklyn seem honest and probably don’t feel they have done anything wrong because they themselves are blinded and the light they see is by no means from God Almighty. Satan is malicious and comes as an angel of light.

  • Google:SIXSCREENSOFTHEWATCHTOWER

  • So obvious the Watchtower Society have read their critics hottest points on the internet & put out this DVD to soften the blow. Now when critics tell a JW "you should research your organizations history" they can say....yes, we know all about Russell & the peoples expectations in those days. Master spin doctors in New York.

  • Another topic I'd like to see you discuss is the book 'The finished mystery'. We know that Rutherford renounced Russell's pagan belief of the Pyramid and measurements leading to 1914. But, since Rutherford produced the book 'the finished mystery', why is the winged sun disk Ra, on the cover of his book? Why did he use a Pagan Symbol? Is that what Jehovah would want? Should we put a pagan symbol on our bibles as well? There is a lot to learn about organizations by use of symbols, including Masons

  • @dallywally72 Dude, that was before they got "new light". That is the best excuse for all of that old shit they don't follow today. I mean, they were celebrating X-mas in the 50's! Those poor JW kids: Sorry, no Christmas this year or ever again.

  • @hilldiggity Russell had x mas dinner at Bethel and small tokens....hey tiffany in nyc has some nice small gifts...lol. the couples in their ads always look like perfect jw to me.......wonder exactly when did they change that policy on paper?

  • @thepixieful You know the picture they have of Xmas dinner at Bethel? That was taken in 1926 (according to jwfacts dot com). I think Xmas was well into the 30's, maybe 40's because my Grandparents had JW Xmas's.

  • they are serpents

  • However, I would not say that Russell's views on the Great Pyramid and the dates are not Bible-based. However, I am sure that the JWs would think so, because their leadership has rejected what Russell taught. on these matters.

  • Unlike the JW leadership, Russell allowed others to hold to their views even they contradicted his own; indeed, he many times presented contra views of various Bible Students in the WT. Russell never thought to enforce his views as Rutherford did after Russell died.

  • Russell never presented his teachings on dates and the Great Pyramid as being something that anyone had to accept, or else they were not a Christian. He did believe that he was correct on the dates (I believe so also), although he did many times states that he may be in error, especially regarding what to expect in 1914.

  • I notice that Barr said his mother was "ready" to sell out everything, not that she did sell out everything. I am left wondering why he would choose to use that wording.

  • @reslight I'm sure her husband talked her out of it... lol Just like people sold their homes in 1975. If Armageddon is coming, what is even the point of selling shit? For cash? If the JW's are going off to "Paradise", money won't be an issue. People are ridiculous.

  • @hilldiggity Russell's view of Armageddon was totally different from that Rutherford's. Russell did not view Armageddon a time of individual judgment of the nations. He was not expecting millions of unsaved people to be eternally destroyed. He believed that it was a period of time in which the peoples of the nations would be chastised in preparation for their blessing after Satan is abyssed. Russell was never associated with the JW org.

  • Russell, before 1904, had expectations of the end of all Gentile Kingdoms in 1914, a thought borrowed from Barbour. In 1904, however, he changed his view, and was no longer expecting the end of Gentile Kingdoms -- their governments -- in 1914, but rather the beginning of the "time of trouble." Russell NEVER expected "the end" in the manner that the JWs speak of "the end." In other words, he was not expecting all unbelievers to disappear in 1914.

  • Barr, like the GB has done so many times, evidently is projecting Rutherford's views of "the end" back to Russell, which is deceptive, since Russell did not believe in the kind of "Armageddon" that Rutherford later presented. Russell, who was never associated with the Jehovah's Witnesses org, preached a Good News that is almost the opposite of that which is preached by the JWs.

  • Russell, indeed, did present his expectations as expectations, and not as prophecy. He admitted many times that his expectations were not infallible, and that he might be in error on some things.

  • Russell did not believe "the end" as described by Jehovah's Witnesses. Evidently, what Bar was referring to was that many Bible Students were still holding to Russell's earlier view that the end of all kingdoms would be in 1914, although Russell himself changed his view on this in 1904, ten years before 1914.

  • Russell had already cautioned several times about expecting a change in 1914; nevertheless, many Bible Students, as stated, were expecting to be changed in 1914.

  • Yes, in 1914, the Gentile Times ended, that the Gentile kings had had their day. I believe that the Gentile Times lost their lease in 1914; the remnants have been unparalleled turmoil ever since.

  • The Watchtower do not want the people to know that Russell declared firmly many times that the only Gods chosen people were the Jews, and not the IBSA members. For Russell, claiming that, was a blasfemy. Also the WT wants to coverup that, because in 1933 Rutherford sent a letter of facts to Hitler saying that the Jews, together with the anglo-american nations, were responsibles for the exploitation of people to enrich themselves.Keeping distance with Jews was Rutherfords main tactic during WWII.

  • @lavasori "Keeping distance with Jews was Rutherfords main tactic during WWII." But weren't JW's rounded up with Jews and also put into camps? I guess that was a failed tactic. And who writes Hitler a letter! WTF! "Hey man, it's CT. Those Jews, boy, we need to contain them for sure, right? OK, well TTYL,

    C.T. Russel"

    hahaha I'm retarded. :-P

  • This Watchtower DVD also skips out to show any photo taken in 1910 in the Holy land, showing a group of I.B.S.A, including Rutherford aside to Russell, showing the Mount of Olives and the wailing wall, behind. You will see that the DVD shows many photos where Russell made his visits, including Egypt, but never shows any photo of them in Holy Land adressing to the jews, promissing that they will return to their holy land. Complete silent about the important fact. Good point for your next video.

  • Another important point that the Watchtower skips over is the fact that Russell was a zionist of heart and soul, and that he did wrote a book in 1910, entitled: Hope for the Jews, Gods chosen people. Russell made a world tour teaching in many countries that the Jews, are the true people of God, the chosen ones, and not the IBSA or JW's of today. This fact is totally left out, despite this was a main doctrine preached heavily by Russell all his life, specially one in the Hippodrome theater in N.Y

  • @lavasori thx for that info.

  • The other point to be considered is when one member of the governing body declares in the DVD, that Russell said he was not inspired by God, when in fact, the Finished Mistery declares that Russell said that could not get this knolewdge by himself and all came through the Holy Sipirit, coming from the voice of God.. Another lie in this book. Please see The Finished Mistery pag 387. Another point that serve to build your next video, part 4

  • Other interesting detail is when this DVD shows a photo of Pastor Russell sitting in his desk, in his studio together with his secretary. You can see in this photo, in the wall, close to Russell desk, the masonic simbol of the cross inside the crown and girded by laurels. Interesting detail. The same simbol that was graven in Russell's piramid and built in his grave in Pittsburgh.

  • The other crafty declaration in this DVD is when the WT is trying to make believe to JW's of today, that the work was financed only by voluntary donations, as they do "apparantly" today, very modest and without any mercantilistic intention, when in fact Russell put prices to his publications to sell them t. The 6 volumes had a price, the subscriptions of the Zions Watchtower had a price explicit printed , and many publicity was made to pay for all of them to be mailed home. Big lies in this DVD.

  • @lavasori When I was a kid having to go out in service (ugh! It's Saturday! I wanna watch cartoons and sleep in!) in the 80's (born in the prophetic 1975, btw), I seem to recall prices ON the magazines. It was only like .10 or .15 cents, but still.

  • In this DVD the Watchtower lies when they say that Russell and his Bible students understood the 2520 year of Daniel, when in fact this idea of 607 and the 2,520 came from the same Nelson Barbour, when he learned that calculation from W.Miller teachings. This idea of the 2,520 year and the 606BC came, the very first, from John Akila Brown in 1823, 56 years before the first WT was published in 1879. Another big lie in this DVD of the Watchtower.

  • The Watchtower also not mention in this DVD that Rutherford declared in 1928, in the Watchtower magazine, that all Russell's teachings regarding piramidology was from the same Satan the devil. ha ha ha ha ha

  • @lavasori Dude, post the month/year of that article. That sounds like a possible, and wonderful quote for a "WTF" video for PropagandaTechniques! lol

  • yet another sickening pack of lies from the free masons of the billion dollar watchtower corporation.,,,,,,this is propaganda at its creepy est ever,,,,

  • i watched the dvd straight after the convention and had a gut feeling that they had missed out very important information ... all i herd in my head was wow i wonder if somebody else feels like this is a cult

  • JWs virtually idolise Russell and Rutherford. I can't handle the way the society displaces blame.

  • u and i share many similar thoughts..i think russell was presumptious i think rutherford was haughty and disrespectful.

  • Did you notice on Russell's casket in the photo-"GONE HOME"? When he was dying, he ordered Brother Sturgeon to put a roman toga on him..and inturn, at his eulogy, they had remarked," that our dear Brother and Pastor sleeps not in death, but was instantaneously changed from the human to the divine nature, and is now forever with the Lord-glorious reward for a true and faithful servant." So, they believe, at the time, life after death, gone upto heaven and yet guiding the WT Society.. go figure.

  • Notice no black people eating at the tables... oh whos that serving them at the table ?

  • Some twot of an elder said to me about CTR and the crew '...and they got it right!' Oh, pleeeez

  • Wow !! this makes me sick to watch, they are so full of sh$t man it blows me away.

  • Great video as normal. It's depressing knowing that witnesses will only see the edited version of their history in this dvd. However hopefully some of them will see your videos and begin checking things for themselves. That would be a great result.

Look forward to seeing the rest in this series. Keep up the good work.

  • Great breakdown! God promises you something, doesn't deliver... when you get skeptical, it's obviously your fault! Oy.

  • What is weird is how they do not want members to look back at "old light" in their own publications? They will never take ownership and admit what they told those brothers and sisters to (think) or believe( Expectations). Everyone knows that if you do think or believe something that the WTBTS does not teach, you can be disfellowshipped if you voice it. Can a person call that expectations? Every JW knows that you can only believe what the WTBTS says, because the message came from Jehovah God?

  • If they mention 1975 it will be brief and only to shift the blame.

The little bit of this DVD that I've seen is evidently following a timeline in telling the story. In that context, this looks like the paper plates that I used to shoot pellets through. It's full of holes!

Any historian who knows about the organization would be pulling their hair out at this self-aggrandizing fluff piece.

I hope you're going to do more on this DVD?

  • @PurpleHoneyBear good comment. nyc is the home of advertising Mad Men and fluff. nice costumes......part 1 better than part 2. be well.

  • always good to shift the blame to dead people who can't defend themselves. I hate the looks on their faces when they talk- especially Barr. You know they know they're lying. I remember his voice from the bible story tapes. *shudders*

  • @Ribcagehacksaw I agree about the looks on their faces! So why do they stay? Are they making a fat salary or just enjoying the power and perks? Of course they're all old balls, so what else are they gonna do...lol

  • What's really funny about this video is the guy who plays Charles Russell was actually my table head in bethel when I did temporary work in Patterson one time.

  • @WakeUpWitness

HI, WOULD YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN THE JOB A TABLE HEAD IN BETHEL

  • @Ni1234ckA A table head is a bethel elder who sits at the head of the dinner/lunch/breakfast tables at bethel. He starts the passing of the food, monitors when you don't come to morning worship, and he is also the one you have to ask if you need to be excused. If you do anything out of line, he will pull you aside after eating and counsel you. He also has to keep a report of your attendence for morning worship. Morning worship starts at 7:00am sharp every morning. You can't be late also.

  • @WakeUpWitness

1)THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I`M SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT HE KEEPS A REPORT OF ONE'S ATTANDANCE FOR MORINING WORHIP. WORHIPS SHOUD BE VOLOUNTARY AND NOT PRESCIRBED BY HUMANS AT A PRECISE TIME.

    2) SITTING AT THE HEAD OF A TABLE REMINDS MIE OF THE PHARISEES JESUS IS SPEAKING OF-HOW PRECISE JESUS OFTEN WAS IN HIS DESCRIPTION OF SUCH SCUMBAGS.

  • @WakeUpWitness would be very funny if he dressed like Chuck while working there.

  • Another excellent video. I am thankful for your commenting on this DVD, because you present your points well...as for me, I noticed all of these points, but it angers me too much to make a video on it at this time.

  • I always enjoy your videos... they out did themselves this time. they have got to deal with all the unfulfilled expectations of the millions who thought the end was coming soon, only to grow old waiting for the end. After seeing this video all those secretly disapointed will feel that the problem is their own expectations and not the organizations false prophecies. Also when a cult leader dies the followers are always confused. This is becuse they followed him and not the bible.

  • Notice they hold him on high and no mention of any "governing Body" then. They do this because they don't want people to know how much they change everything. Watered down history. This is why they don't want the talks recorded as much anymore. Bet they won't tell how Rutherford really took over the org.
