  • this is after 9/11 i believe

  • ladder 3.. heros of 9/11

  • They are responding to a: Class 3 box 620 terminal 1, 425 E 25 ST. FDR Drive with 1st Ave for a AFA manual alarm in a public college, west building.

  • Cool! They let you smoke while driving. Figured there would be a rule against that.

  • Ladder 3 was lost in 911

  • Wheelin and Dealin!!!!! Good job driver.

  • great driver and at the start i like how those people actually move

  • windows 95 can bet that

  • what is the ringing? it sounds like a telephone?

  • @michaels1432 Its the MDT or Computer on the truck that shows call info and other things

  • is this a tower or is that the air-conditioner

  • さすがFDNY

  • chuck norris drive

  • love how the driver has a smoke hangin from his lip!gotta love the FDNY!

  • @urbanff18 i was gonna say the same thing!

  • Siren is the first version of the federal pa 300, silver front version. That's the standard wail in those models. Newer black front ones have a short rise wail. We have one.

  • Driver = Badass

  • Use the Q!!!!!

  • Awsome driver !

  • That "yelp" button on the PA300 helped get some attention when needed

  • wow awesome video.... God Bless the FDNY !!! 4ever!!!

  • Driver smoking???

  • Too bad the driver couldnt have himself a Cuban! LMAO it must be a whole lot of fun trying to drive that big friggin' truck in that city in this kinda traffic! It wasn't even gridlock but still pretty bad. Here's to the FDNY!

  • Thats new york for ya people walking in front of fire trucks and drivers smoking while driving awesome

  • good looking out for the other truck at the intersection. In London two trucks collided in same situation cos they didn't hear each other.

  • wtf the driver is smoking!!

  • do these firetrucks use Sat Nav or something? cause i think its impossible to know every street in New York :D

  • @eaglet888 there was a thing i seen online it took fdny 35 min to find one call because of the problem

  • windows 95?

  • You should have squished the white-shirted guy at 0:50

  • Ok, first off, if the driver is a smoker, then dammit, let him smoke. There's nothing in the trucks that say you can't smoke in there. Smoking in an ambulance, well then that's just common sense. Besides, if you're a firefighter, especially the chauffer of a truck, in NY, chya, you would be stressed enough you want to smoke. Secondly, what was the call for? He looked disappointed when they got there. Keep up the good work guys. You're all heroes to the world =)

  • At 0:28 you can hear the dispatcher announce the call over the radio.

  • @HighOnLife1985 it was probably a stuck elevator or something. sometimes when ladders are called out, its usually a stuck elevator

  • Talk about a driver with balls of steel!

  • Hell yeah!! Now that's the way to drive. Hat's off to all of you FDNY firefighter's and all the other big city departments out there. I'm just glad I don't have to drive in all that traffic trying to get to a call.

  • that is EXACTLY what i want my job to be.

  • oh man, that was great

  • 1.isn't the fire truck considered a workplace? 2.aren't there pressurised air bottles on the truck? what the fuck is the driver doing smoking????

  • @motionmay You non reader man. You can see that the vid is posted in 2006.

There was no smoking thing tight then. And even in New York City's these day you can still smoke on your work area.

    READ BEFORE YOU POST ANYTHING!

  • @motionmay The SCBA cylinders arent going to explode or anything numbnuts. We wear them into burning buildings, you really think a small ember from a cigarette would do anything to them??? Holy shit your retarded

  • @motionmay lmao its called ambien air why would we go into a burning building with air packs full of O2, come on dude use your noggin lol

  • @motionmay I hope you are not a fire fighter... because since when is AIR flammable? The bottles you talking about goes daily in high temp fires....on the back of a fire fighter and since when is AIR flammable ?... and about the considered workplace Do you know what a firefighter inhale daily.... CO.... so what about a sigarette.....

You are a guy who will say at scene of a fire: Sorry this considered workplace is not safe and not smoke free I am not going in....Your a No Brainer

  • need more videos like this on youtube in HD.

  • Mean sounding air horn, I like it!

  • That "ring ring" is being made by the computer. Usually means a message or status change (in my area anyway).

  • Man this stuff is pre 9-11

  • @frylock44 nope its not u can tell by some of the cars and buses.

  • When you guys arrive did a special operations vehicle come a minute later? with a camera man?

  • i love the driver with his cigar :D

  • what a tough job in NY. crazy traffic 24/7

  • Is it me or is the Engineer smoking a cigar

  • Wow, I drove Ladder 39 in the Bronx for 16 years and I never thought of video taping it . But this is some cool shit.

  • What I love about FDNY is that when there is a call such as a Structure Fire, They're not like any other FD. most would send maybe 3 or 5 engines, few ladders, etc, but the FDNY send like 30 Engines, 20 Ladders, 3 battalions, 3 rescues or whatever is needed. You've gotta love them.

  • HOLY SHIT!!! THIS DRIVER KICKS ASS really threading the needle there. lol

  • still districts pretty big

  • now that is some excellent truck driving...

  • Great driver but....ditch the butt.

  • he drives amazing :D

  • What was the emergency they were heading too?

  • I can't BELIEVE how light that traffic was! If they were doing a movie shoot, they couldn't get that traffic to be THAT light. It must have been a Sunday morning. And the fact that 3 almost beat the first-due truck in, L.7, says more about 7 than it does about the driving of 3.

  • fantastic driving

  • shut up about the smoking

  • @XxTHEGAMERxX1 i agree its a stupid ass decision but still tho mind there own fucking buisnees

  • So what are they going to do when they are smoking in the rig and something happens and have an oxygen leak in one of the oxygen tanks?

  • @Jkdutsch : The tanks contain compressed air, not oxygen. They carry them on their backs into the fires, don't they?

  • @aal49, yes, it's compressed air. average tank life is between 30-45 minutes depending on the model. some are built for up to 60 minutes of air flow. if it were filled with straight oxygen we'd die......

  • holy smoke!!!!! I mean the Cigarette. :)

  • NICE DRIVING!!!! WOW

  • idk is it?

  • that siren is the one we use in australia, mainly in new south wales

  • his driving is normal to me everyone drives like this in NY...no traffic...nothing...

  • bad ass driver, driving, smoking, and using the airhorn.

  • Awesome driver!

  • i love this siren what is is it called i like the yelp on it and great driving

  • Federal Signal PA300

  • I dont think its PA300 this one the wail goes up to high

  • @EngulfedSix

Thats definitely a PA300. No other siren sounds like that.

  • Ya you have a point but,my cities trucks all have PA300s and wail dosent go up that high but then again the officer could be holding the manual down to make it sound like that

  • @EngulfedSix Well, maybe the ones in your city are the newer PA300s.

  • @MetalSanke Probably

  • @MetalSanke The camera could of also distorted the sound.

  • some of them have either a knob or bedels on the floor

  • yeah this pa300 is old you can tell b the sound of the wail

  • Excellent fire truck driver!

  • @rez886 Their motto is, "Getting there is half the fun!"

  • does anyone no wat station this left from

  • yep im a volunteer in the east meadow fire dept on LI then i work in NYC for hook and ladda 8

  • fucking fag in his white blouse! walking like nothing bothering him...... wanker

  • man i see that everyday i work at hook and ladder 8 in manhattan

  • There are only 2 vollie companies officially recognized by FDNY. They are both in Staten Island. Beside them, there is one vollie company in Brooklyn, 3 maybe 4 in Queens, and I think one up in the Bronx. These others are not dispatched by FDNY, as are the ones in S.I.

  • That was pretty far away

  • 02:56 - 03:05 That fucker in the car has a much more important errand to run than to let two fire trucks clear the intersection. I'd love to see these idiots sprayed with a line while finally passing them.

  • dudes gettin it

  • Cool video ,I should video myself driving , the ring is a responding company 10-84 at the box ,

  • the ringing is dispatch having what they call a ring down for the unit to talk to the comm center

  • dont you have federal q2b sirens

  • Nah, NYC has limits on noise levels and Q's are too loud. The only trucks that have them take them off before sending the truck for service cause the service personnel have to remove them if they see them.

  • very nice video!

  • whats the telephone sound?

  • It is the MDT alert for an update.

Or in other words the lap top in the truck that communicates with the Alarm Room to update call information.

  • Is the driver smoking? lol or is that a pen?

  • smoking

  • a pen. you can see him waving it around at 1:20

  • It appears so.

  • Typical busy new yorker at 0:50

  • is that an ambulence at 2:53

  • yes , it's an ambulence !

  • jeez i just wanted to know

  • mit ner kippe im mund :D

    ITS GERMAN ;D

  • this is not german is from ny i live there

  • your dumb. He's not saying this video is from Germany, he's saying that what he said "mit ner kippe im mund" is German.

  • Mit ner Kippe im MAUL heisst das

  • no..they cant because Q's Are to loud...so they got electric federal instead....but i think some stations has the Q but im not sure

  • lol i thought being a fire fighter you cant smoke in a fire truck i guess you can . =)

  • man they smoke all the time.

  • Whats that sound,sounds like a phone?

  • if your talking or the little ring at 00:16 it is their laptops and at :34, shows layouts of buildings,Gps, things they need to know about the building, accesses sprnklers systems....technology is helpful!

  • Hey , it is the laptop , but, unfortunately, the mdt doesn't show any layout of the building ! Unless you have been on a run there or did BI there we have no clue of the layout of the apartments . The FDNY does not have GPS to guide us to the fire, we use a paper map or our head. They try to get as much info about the building as possible ,C.I.D.S. info, but there are over 900,000 buildings in NYC

  • well fourtunately i know many FDNY members up there....i a still am honored when i shake their hands...but it stills helps them...my father has been there....they cooked meals and different shit...really hospitable....he did some consuling things in "06

  • New york people are stpid because they don't stop for emergency systems

  • is a Computer in this Engine? In the begin it sounds like Windows or something else !?

  • It is their mobile data terminal (MDT)

  • does the FDNY use the Q on any of their trucks?

  • no, they are to loud in the city. They are going to EQ2B now though

  • lol The driver smokes

  • Why the hell is he smoking a cigar? Lol!

  • My wife's boyfriend smokes amid smoking rubble. It's comical to watch actually.

  • Capt. Brown's unit? Am i right on this one. Btw anyone knows whether entire Capt. Brown's crew had fallen on 9/11 or there were some survivors. As for as i know he led 11 men with him into the northen tower.

  • Comment removed

  • what a driver....and smoking....tribute to the FDNY!

Holland can sure learn from his driverskills!

Keep up the good work boys, be safe out there in NY

  • What had happened? thank you for responding

  • Guys smoking a cig,,,,,LMFAO only FDNY

  • THE DRIVERS NAME IS JIMMY FLIN

  • It take's alot of experience to be able to drive like that.

  • that guy can fucking drive

  • LOVE THIS VID DEFINATELY ***** i do have one question though what kind of siren is that?

  • Was the Engineer smoking too? If so that is freking sweet!

  • yeah he was smoking dude

  • The telephone ringing sounds- I believe are the call-outs for another apparatus unit. (I could be mistaken though). Either which way, it's part of the FDNY radio/telecommunications system. From what Ive read in the comments here- there are two MDTs in the Engines now? (1 in the 1st Officers seat and one in the rear jumpseats?)

  • its the MDT going off saying that there is a new message

  • Awesome driving skills like how he threaded the needle on those 2 taxis at the start.

  • omg i love the siren!!!

  • GREAT VIDEO, I LOVE THE FDNY!

  • Best response video on youtube.

  • I have never seen the FDNY running they're sirens like this. Usually they use Manual

  • I see them use this more often. You can tell from the time intervals.

  • lol. he is smoking. FDNY drivers are awesome. I'm from NY. They sure know how to drive in between cars without stopping and making sharp turns as you can see here.

  • I liked! Operative, not worse, than in Russia =)

  • As Always, AWESOME BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what is that device that is making a sound like a telephone call? is it a phone on board the truck?

  • no thats the on board computer giving them updates.

  • THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH this has been killing me i appericeate this ALOT But is this what the truck in the video is using sounds a little different?

  • look at 1:05...everyone just split for the truck...great vid..

  • Can someone !!!PLEASE TELL ME WHAT KIND OF AIR HORNS THOSE ARE!!! !P L E A S E!!!!!

    Id appericiate it ALOT Thanks

  • I live in the UK nad went over to NY for a holiday and aboustley love the American sirens. I want to know if the very deep truck horn is for when they are crossing a intersection so that no other cars run into them.

    Please let me no

    Regards Scorpia12345

  • they use the horn to make people get out of the way and to let people know they are coming. It is true that they use the horn to make sure no one runs into them.

  • If you think thats good you should hear the Q!!!

  • I love american sirens please somebody can tell me name this sirens (whelen?) and air horn button.

    greetings from polish EMS squad

  • thanks mr know it all

  • Does anyone (close to the videographer) know what year this is?

  • why is the siren on the drivers side? thats a safety hazzard it should be on the passengere side because while driver reachin 4 the siren he could lose control of the truck and crash and dos anyone know why the truck hits from wail to yelp by its slef or is that somebody else switchen the tone

  • there's a siren switch on both sides, a pedal on the passenger side.

  • thats someone else switching to yelp because there is a pedal where the officer sits to

  • actually, firefighters who train and get certified to operate fire apparatus learn how and when to use other controls and functions of the apparatus.

  • awesome video nice job .

  • who honks the horn?

  • if you look between the 1 minute and the 2 minute mark you can see the driver with his hand on the horn

  • Nice horns, Grovers?

  • nice video

  • GREAT video... and one badass driver! i'll agree with the person who guessed he could fit an 8' truck through a 7.5' opening.

way to go, guys. keep up the great work.

  • Nice horns, Grovers?

  • weeee
