  • Untrue. I'm the airport doctor at The Airport of Melbourne and I often drive a golf buggy along the runways and service roads to get from one terminal to another. I was driving along the main runway at the airport only today and I was keeping up with a Qantas A380 that was taking off. I know the golf buggy does 60km/h max, and I was maxing it out because I was on my way to an emergency. So, I can tell you from experience that the A380 has a take-off speed of around about 60km/h.

  • @SuperApparition What you are is a cunny funt and you can interpret that a number of ways.

  • Beautiful!! I love that spool up whine when they throttle up almost to takeoff power, then give it that final "nudge"!! Are these Rolls Royce engines??

  • @Squawk7600 Have to get one of the aircraft buffs to answer that. I don't know if Singapore specified them or not.

  • how fast was this going ?

  • @19may0001 Google the take off speed for an A380

  • nice RB

  • nice video. 5/5. love the spool up sound.

  • how many kms/h is it going down the runway you think??

  • An A380 typically needs to reach 280km/h to take off but there are numerous variables that can make it higher or lower.

  • Wow!! It just looks like it wasn't going fast at all in your video. Thanks :)

  • You go in to Dick Smith and get yourself a scanner You can get all of the frequencies off the net.

  • Thanks. What is the scanner from dicksmiths called and would you know approximately how much it costs? Good video too!

    cheers

  • There is a range but I have a Uniden UBC73XLT. I think it was around $200. I use it for railways as well.

  • Just Melway yourself around the perimeter roads, the Sunbury Road and Loemans Road. You will see the best places. It also depends on the runway in use at the time. And Google Jetspotters, there is a map in their forum pages

  • giant bird =D

i swear i thought it wouldnt lift off xD

  • whats the fasination?

  • Some people are in to things that go vroom whilst others seem to enjoy hip hop. That's what makes the world so fascinating.

    Great vid.

  • Excellent !!

  • very cool!

  • Wow. Awesome video! There's a vid on here of someone sitting over the wing on a take off. I was amazed at how much the wingtips moved when they were creating lift...

  • Awesome mate, love the sound of the engines spooling up then they pour in the fuel to get takeoff thrust, sounds great when your inside just forward of the engine intakes too!

  • Nice Vid, I thought it would be harder to get footage of planes taking off these days, I heard they shut the observation Deck at Tulla.

  • Yep, it was a victim of the new terminal extension.

  • Great vid mate. Good job being hand held. 5/5
