I really thought it was cute. I don't know this instrument and I'll be honest, this instrument automatically sounds out-of-tune to my ears compared to the violin I grew up listening to, but it sounds like he's a student? I could be wrong!
The Erhu's strings are tuned to a D and an A according to the temepered system which Chinese music has largely adopted, or already had.
If you hear anything out of tune, than he very likely played it out of tune. That being said, playing erhu in tune is entirely reliant on the ear. There is very little in the way of a physical reference point, so only the best players play in very good tune.
Anyone know that the bow is haired between the two strings and there is no finger or fretboard. ive been playing cello and guitar for over a decade and when i bought an erhu it was a real pain in the ass the learn to play. who knows this guy could just be starting. so lets all enjoy his valiant attempt.
who's the fool? The Erhu is difficult, and Elizarelizarelizar is right in saying it would be hard. As for Ayeroxor, the guy is trying hard, and I think he's doing it just my memory of how the song goes. It's very difficult, unlike piano or trumpet. (yes I've played those instruments, so I know what I'm talking about)
but Piano IS easy. I mean, ANYONE can be good at piano. ^_^ It's really fun to learn, and comes naturally to most everyone... or at least everyone around here :P I think most everyone (if not everyone) at my school plays at least 1 instrument, most of them being piano.
Well, I see a difference between being able to press the right keys with your fingers or being good at playing piano. You're right, piano is easy to begin with, but to become good at it, pressing the keys in the right place is just not enough, in my opinion. I mean, I thought that too, after having taught piano to myself and after having started playing some of John Field's nocturnes I just know that I know nothing.
hmm you make a good point. Playing piano and really PLAYING fluently are 2 different things. I mean, to really feel the music and play it fluently and flawlessly you need years of practice. But to just play some little song after trying over and over it comes easily.
I agree with that ambidexterity thing, the first instruments I learned to play were all wind instruments, so I never learned how to do ambidextrous playing.
why bother learning an instrument when you can just download a Digital Audio Workstsation like FL STUDIO or Linux Multi Media Studio. Instruments are so 20th century.
can you tell me the notes for the mario theme?

@Neur0ticism he sounds nervous. That's how I sound like when I play the violin in front of a bunch of people.

Yeah, under this conditions, piano is easy. Though I can imagine that there are people, who will just never get the ambidexterity-thing.
