I don't think so. Dark skin does not mean you HAD to originate in Africa, if white people are fighting to be called Africans, Afrikans, or even African Americans then is it really that far fetched to conceive the notion that all Blacks are NOT from Africa.
Not a statemen, just a ponderance.

I think Black is an adequate term for "african americans" simply because we are lost. Chinese people don't need to be called yellow because they can identify with a culture and tradition. African Americans are ghosts without a history beyond slavery as we were robbed of such luxuries of cultural ethnicity. We ASSUME we are African, Jamaican, etc, and we identify with what society proclaims us to be; wether that is African, Negro, Niggas, Niggers, etc.. --
-- The confusion and mystery is where science or God prevails as the conspirator of these events, as diff languages developed and genes. Same scenario, different story goes for Asians etc... Everyone was black at one point, and there is evidence that even black ppl ruled what is now known as Europe.
Europeans do not come from Europe, Asians dont come from Asia, etc... At one point in history only "black" ppl existed in which being referred to as "black" was nonexistent because there was no deviation. You were identified by your fathers name. Eventually population increase & disease came as pple had to be separated. Those who were sent to "Europe" (prob had a different name then) were disease ridden, leprosy and all the documented plagues and adapted to the colder climate. --

Our/ African Americans blood and genes are so tainted with that it's actually unique I don't even doubt to say our long lost African brothers and sister in Africa wouldn't be suspicious about us trying to reclaim our African Heritage .. this is very complicated topic
The so called "Jews" got respiration checks for the Holocaust , where is my check for my ancestors for building American?. I for one will not be so loyal towards America it was built on the back of slaves, which were my/Our ancestors the way the Europeans treated our ancestors was inhumane and cruel. The Europeans made our ancestors mate with each other because The Europeans thought our Ancestors look the same. They were treated like dogs. We all know Africans are the most tribal -cont-
@Bsmurfdizzle You wont be loyal to America? Then get the fuck out...... Ill buy you a plane ticket go back home your free now Leave........ You know you wont because you know its way better than anything you have in your homeland...... You idots destroyed more shit in america than you ever built anyway
My only problem with being called African is the fact it's not my Native land it hasn't been my Family land for at least 5 generations back so it's sort of embarrassing not just to our ancestors but to our cousins in Africa and around the world. We are just now trying to embrace our African name and heritage here in America ? Maybe we African Americans still have the slave chains on our image, minds because we defend America more then we defend Africa, Have we forgotten what they done to us ?
@Bsmurfdizzle I personally think its offensive and racist to assume all Africans are dark sub Saharan (black African) people. if an Egyptian or Moroccan or Afrikaner lives in America wouldn’t that make him/her African American? People that America calls African American have been mixed outside of Africa so the term African-American is not valid . An African American should only be someone that they themselves or all their parents or grandparents are from the continent of Africa
Every black person is not african, these europeans try to make it look like black folks were just only in africa, they were all over the world why do u think almost every other race except white folks have pigment in their skin? And African is not a valid nationality, your nationality is the nation that your original ancestors are from not where your born, and not a whole continent.Africa is the motherland, but not every black person is african.
@ricciuto1 I know what it means,if chinese person is born in brazil and still has their slanty eyes, that doesn't make him a brazilian,it makes him a brazilian citizen, but he wont be a brazilian,if a german is born in haiti that doesn't make him hatian by blood,it makes him a musty german living in haiti,my people were brought here and their nationality was erased, and called a so called african american, thats no no real nationality.
@guttaboi88 Your still getting nationality mixed up with ethnicity. Brazil is a very multicultural/racial/ethnic country, and has the largest ethnic Japanese population outside japan and guess what they are still Brazilians in and outside Brazil. There are Haitians of pure European descent and on a flight to another country where it says nationally they would write Haitian, and if someone asked them there nationality they would reply Haitian. Afro-Haitians are not the native people btw
@guttaboi88 Sorry I drifted off a little but yeh a nationality can be a person’s ethnicity also, but if you’re a citizen of a nation its your nationality. That’s all lol. I agree with what your saying anyway, saying someone’s nationality is African is stupid.
@hxasmirl Aborigines are not a part of the same race and even they are not considered true blacks. They are closer genetically to asian than africans and are the furtherest from being black of any group of people on earth.
black is a color and africa(na) is the name of some white man. we are isrealites. before someone with no knowledge insults me, do your research and read your bible and see that these people couldnt have been caucasian. even if we were hametic(african), what tribe of ham are we?
I have a friend from Florida told me black woman do not respect there black men, brothers, cousins, uncles, fathers and so on...he's a Nurse Tech at a hospital in Florida.whenever he have questionnaires for the black female patients they are very harsh with sarcastic remarks, insults, belittling, aggressive and uncooperative 98% of the time but Hispanics and whites are more easy to talk to.Black women are the only ones that have a animosity towards all black men.the hatred and bitterness is ridiculous.
Very true! this is a serious problem amongst U.S African Americans, they use terms like black, colored, negro which are legal terms that denote property. They don't understand that human beings are not a color chart, their a family seperated by nationalitys. When you describe yourself as black, negro, colored you have volutarily have excepted your status as property.
Being refered to by color is a political thing. My fellow peer from Africa has told me in Africa they go by tribe not color. Africans don't think much about the blacks in any other country. Just like if a white person goes to Ireland and says I am American with Irish descent. They could care less and would say Go home American. My peer told me that he did not like the black people in our country because they do not embrace all that is African.
Black or white isn't colours people. They are shades, so people from Africa or African descent are just either very dark BROWN or the really light BROWN. End of.
Not sure what to call people who originated in African in England! "Black" is one of my least favourite words. I use it to describe those with a darker skin tone than me, but I could be darker than a lighter skinned "black" person if I got a deep tan. However in England nobody uses the term "Anglo-African" and I think I'd offend people from the West Indies if I tried describing them as African if they were 10th generation. Hell, I knew a Sri Lankan guy who called himself black...
Also it takes a lot of energy to come up with black. More than any other. Its really not a color at all. Black substances have an ability to reflect or absorb any color without being changed very much. I encourage all to study the color black. It is really interesting and not evil at all. Why else would God make the original human black. Melanin Is not only synthesized in humans because of the sun.
Well I like the term black because it represents the universe and gives life. Black is a beautiful color. Of course there are no truly Black skin people. The point is as long as you don't see it as negative yourself, then it's ok. Why would you call yourself something that's negative. I am proud to be a Black African American. You can't even see light without some form of darkness it is a Base for all energy. It can be neutral and it is a prerequisite for human life.
Africans are the indigeneous people of Africa and they decendents are in the diaspora, so the blacks in the united states would be they decendents of afican
people that came there as slaves , so my question is why don't africans like black americans or except them ? I have been increasingly been running into africans that dis like black americans for no reason at all , and if they don't except me why should I call my self african ? It's just a question I know people are going to blast me out !
Well, I wondered about that too. I think that just like we in america saw/see degrading images of Africans in Africa (ie, Africans starving, living in poverty, ravaged w/HIV) on TV when we were kids; Africans in Africa saw/see degrading images of African-Americans in the United States (ie, drug dealers, pimps/hoe, materialistic rapper) so they think negatively of us. Its not a coincidence that there is lack of unity seen between Africans across the globe and Africans in the US.
@yahkini64 I am From Africa and let me tell you that I have American friends of African descent with whom I get along very well. On the other hand, there are others who buy into the white man propaganda on Africa as "a land of savages" and they somehow believe that are superior to Africans, and some Africans are shocked by this time of behavior coming from people who were suppose to treat them like brothers. One bad experience can lead someone to put everyone in the same basket.
Youtube, r u serious!!! youtube is an academic historical source these daze? I need a source for a historical document written by African people before slavery where they used the word BLACK. If you are right then you should have ZERO problems bringing this historical reference. here is a hint, start in Egypt.
The link I gave you will give you an out line of what you need to know. To do your reasearch on The brother gives you plenty of facts that YOU can then reasearch Yourself And if you feel he's wrong. Prove it and tell me so I to can be led to the light also.
@Ocacia hahaha yep the term "Black " is a slave term and has nothing to do with Africans we identify by our languages and cultures and territory not the misnomer that the slave traders gave the slaves to defrock them of any dignity they had when they stripped away their identity .. so the term "black" is a term that is used to keep the descendants of the african slave trade in their place. when you strip people of their identity you render them harmless. hence the ownership of the term "nigga"
@NoRiddlez ~"black" has no equivalent in any african language or culture .. the term is a left over from slavery pure and simple. think about it.. "white " is the same concept.."white " is not a nationality, language, culture or ethnic group but yet its especially used in the usa because again, it is a legacy of the slave culture that it grew from just as the term "black" which africans dont identify with , is used to keep and degrade the descendants of this trade to this day..
@NoRiddlez No asian person thinks of themselves as yellow so why should we let a color define us? Blackness is only skin deep while african-ness is bone deep.
Exactly!! Where All People of Color!!! ...nobody's skin is Black or White....those words are crude approximations created by slavemasters Hundreds of years ago!!...We must Love Each Other!
People, no one can put it better than our Black Sista, Gwenedolyn Brooks in her poem "Colors", She says, I am not black, black is just a word that stands for me, so Black is where it's at, so is African American , Negro and even Colored, we as a people grew and it;'s up to us as to how we feel or what we prefer. Whatever the case may be, it's what you answer to. The world knows we are the most talented, innovative, educated, trendsetter and much much more. God made us in his image. Live it up.
I hope those of us who have respect and love for Africa to declare it,often as I do?I worked in North and East Africa several years ,when I worked for Ministry of Education in Massangulu,in Niassa the school, where I worked,I played keyboard/amp ,flute as part of my entertainment duty,To this day I have great respect for Africa. the memory of the "cry of joy "will not erase with time,it is the hearts of the village they share.peace
f keyboard with amp as part of my entertainment duty,
We should call ourselves Afrikan, period. It doesn't matter if you don't know what exact tribe or culture you come from because they all come from afrika anyway.
@MrFawohodie423 its very personal and all about tags i think. Africa is a continent, therefor people who are born there are African regardless of their skin colour. I am African and so is my 'white' friend from here. The word 'black' has been around for ages and so has the 'white' word and i dont see white people having issues with us calling them white. If ur born in America ur American, black or white!
You're right, it is personal. When I get called black when my skin is brown, that's personal. It's a racist construct desinged to remove me and my people from the place they rightfully belong to. Anyone else living there is an invader who forced there way onto our motherland, period. Both arabs and caucasians invaded, took resouces that wern't theirs, and made slaves out of the TRUE afrikan people. That's the only reason your european friend lives there now.
It all depends what culuture your in. It seems that westernnnized negro/african/blacks always want a new label. In the latin countries it won't change. You will only be called african only if you are recently from the land. SO moreno, negro, criollo and maroon will remain.
@rb7magnetico what do you call a black-skinned person from india? what do you call a light-skinned african-american? you call the black indian indian & you call the yellow african-american black LOL...white namers & classifiers have confused the whole world about AFRIKANS
@maaruz1979 sorry I can't remember what I wrote all I can say is it's just useless labeling.Even the term Afric(k)an doesn't originate in Africa..The term as you may know is from a caucasoid man Scipio Africanus..so when so the term african american still gives reverence to the caucasian man.The title is just to label and limit.Would a algerian born in the usa be considered an african american? No..Same goes for the indigenous "americans" called indians.Labeled because of similar skintones.
@rb7magnetico that is debatable; the point is that "africa" represents a land mass, whatever name you call it...all wealth comes from the earth; & i am the people of that land mass..."black" represents a color...the whites will gladly take africa & they will be very happy when these "blacks" deny africa so they can grab it like they did before...maybe these "blacks" will be sent into a black hole outer space so they can revel in "blackness"; i can dig being 'black' but the foundation is africa
@maaruz1979 well the land mass named after Scipio Africanus didn't have a name prior to being labeled "africa". The name originates for the north african tribe called the afri (caucasoid tribe). It has some double meanings where one means land of dust and the other meaning land of cave dwellers. Yes your right black is a color in the english language but in romance languages it is also color, darkeness and people etc hence the terms nero, negro, preto etc..
@rb7magnetico that is false..."africa" was once known as alkebulan..at various times it was also referred to as ethiopia; it depends who was describing it...
@maaruz1979 no it's not false just an indifferent truth. It's still goes to the point on the word "african" is rooted to a caucasian man and has been for over a thousand years.Even the word alkebulan isn't "african" it roots from old arabic (caucasoids) and which debatably was introduced post "africanus"
@rb7magnetico It isn't about the word its about the concept. We need to understand what makes us who we are is not the color of our skin but the people and place we originally descended from. The place called africa gave us most of our genes and that is what makes us who we are. If you use the word black you give people the power to shape your identity strictly on your complexion and we all know how that has worked out for african people in the US. Willy Lynch is all I have to say.
white is considered european but not specific to what country. but not all are light skinned. the same with latinos. theres a bunch of central and south american countries. but not all look the same. chinese and vietnames and koreans look slightly different but are considered asians. africans pretty much look the same. they have features that are diffrent from every other race. hence why people categorized them as negroes. cuz they were strangely different that was was considered the norm
@thehowl666 WOW! they were 'categorized as negroes' because they have 'features that are different from every other race?'...i haven't seen anything this ridiculous in along time; "negro" is from the spanish word for the color black...are you saying there are no other dark-skinned races besides africans? no other wooly haired perople? no other people with diverse facial features?
@maaruz1979 blacks DO look different than any other person in the world. if they do have the nappy hair its cuz they have black in them. sure other people might have big lips anf flat wide noses but not to the extent of blacks. same thing with skin tone. its been proven that black skulls measure different than white skulls for example. meaning that by just the skull alone someone can determine wether the person was black or not. and the word nigger comes from the word niger as in the country
@thehowl666 THAT IS TOTAL RUBBISH! african so-called 'blacks' are the most diverse people on the planet. they range from the darkest skin to extremelyt light skin...from very coarse hair to straight hair..,.from broad noses to long thin noses; from thick lips to thin lips; from extremely short to extremely tall...you can finds native africans that look like chinese people..you can find native africans that look like indian & arabs; your arguments are completely absurd..
@maaruz1979 a true african will look like just like your typical black guy. if they look very different than that then you cant count on it that they have some different blood in them. just like mariah crey, halle berry, vanessa williams, etc
black people are called black cuz in no other part of the world through out history have there ever been people so different than any other race. unlike the rest of the world civilizations that traveled and conquered and mixed with other races, africa and their people for the most part were kept seperated. some one cant say that theyre white cuz its not specific to what part of europe they are from. but a black person came from africa and thats it. thats why they are called black.
@maaruz1979 As i continue with my learning about the human race i have found that we are so so so much more then color my friend. so i really dont care what the europeans label people. cause i know where they come from and why we are all here so the wold negroid has no effect on me.
@maaruz1979 As i continue with my learning about the human race i have found that we are so so so much more then color my friend. so i really dont care what the europeans label people. cause i know where they come from and why we are all here so the word negroid has no effect on me.
remember africa has negative connotations to most of the diaspora blacks who have been groomed to reject our continent as evil and worthless and also degrading themselves in the process. figthing for the right to call yourself a "nigga "is beyond comprehension to the average african as it tantamont to cursing yourself.if someone calls you stupid why are you agreeing with them... ?it is not a term of affection, but it will take time for diaspora blacks to understand this..
The term Africa was in use in Africa centuries before any european set foot on the continent......
Massey, in 1881, derived an etymology from the Egyptian af-rui-ka, "to turn toward the opening of the Ka." The Ka is the energetic double of every person and "opening of the Ka" refers to a womb or birthplace. Africa would be, for the Egyptians, "the birthplace."
its the way carribeans and black americans are made to feel about themselves and some african children have also picked up on this in western countries.. to africans either born in africa or born outside of african parentage, your culture and language is your main identity. so many of us are bi-lingual or tri-lingual fluent in our own languages and english or whatever european language of the country we live in..to the non african, we represent death and dispair, not progress or comfort.
I would rather call myself black than say African.
Cos the term 'africa' does not originate from our continent. It comes from the Greeks. The term ous ancestors used call their land was 'KEMET'. Meaning the land of blacks. Fact.
The first Egyptians(blacks) used to call themselves kemits(africans) and Kemet(Africa).
I'm black. Not negro or coloured which are the construct of the racist europeen deranged mind.
black is a construct, black = negro in Spanish, Still in latin America people say Negro. Kemet means the land was black not the people. check your facts. Africa is a north African berber term which the Romans used. So silly to say Negro is a construct but the same people r the ones that called you black
@k0chyz Negro is the spanish translation of black the words mean the same thing. Both are labels given to us by europeans. It's the continent of our supreme origin so it makes more sense to be called a person of african decent rather to be totally disconnected from our place of origin.
Africans participated in Slavery as did Jews in their holocaust, and "Native" Americans in their holocaust. Every one else's participation (in Historical White Supremacy) is excused or not talked about while African participation was called "trade". We are African whether we like it or not. Free your African minds!!!!!!!!
I think the reason ppl are more eager to refer to themselves as 'black' or 'original jews/hebrews' than African is that the media has run an attack on 'Africa'. You can be a successful person if you're like a black african american, the jews of today are succesful whilst 'Africa' is shown as corrupt and starving and wartorn.
I have no Idea why other blacks are scoring low IQ numbers. With an IQ test average of 119 their is a VERY good chance you are inferior to me. Most of the IQ test focus small areas of the mind. I think much of the difference has to do with adaptation to environment.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that what unites Black people around the world still outweighs what divides them. Being Black these days is such a complex idea is is almost scary, because it is no longer your look that makes you Black. I have seem Black people who look Asian ,no more no less.
With the world being the big village it has become, it is hard to tie a race to a continent: in the beginning, there was only on big continent called the pangea: how do you ?????
Well, before slavery, even before the industrial revolution, there was a powerful civilization in Africa. Go find out who built the pyramids in Egypt. Many of the great greek philosophers went to Egypt to learn they trade.
The Empires of Songhai and Mali were big cities with powerfully structures societies and universities. Did you know that African shipmen from the empire of Mali made it to the shores to America 2 centuries before Columbus "discovered" it?
I am black. The Africans sold us to the white man. The what man took our names. We need names and culture that is not African or white. I hate them equally for slavery.
This is not true and it hurts that some brothers till this date still believe that. The facts are that, The Europeans needed strong people to develop the new land, and Africa was really the only place where such man power existed. The Kings of Europe had refused that the local Indians be enslaved. Please note that slavery was as bad to the taken-away as it was to those who stood in place. Once again, we have been forced to learned history that was written for us by people who did not care.
Some Africans are rich to this day because of slavery. We should kill the families who sold us to the white man. Europeans are only guilty of excepting stolen goods. The Africans were the true criminals.
It is naive to believe that if the "Africans" had refused to "sell" their brothers into slavery, the Europeans would have turned around and gone back to Europe. To my knowledge, Africans did not make much from the slave trade. Instead, Africa as whole has paid a gigantic price for all the manpower they lost to slavery. Those who profited and are still profiting from this trade are still around counting their huge sums of money. The facts are the facts, whether one likes them or not.
@kamerunite Agree with you. However, not all Africans were victims of slavery, and not all Africans are today victims of western imperialism. Few, most of the so called African elites, allied back then with Europeans and still do so and as long as we Africans do not deal with those internal threats we won't be able to put a stop to the external threats.
Afri was the name of several peoples who dwelt in North Africa near Carthage. Their name is usually connected with Phoenician afar, "dust", but a 1981 theory[6] has asserted that it stems from a Berber word ifri meaning "cave", in reference to cave dwellers.
I dont care when people call me black, thats just the way I'm identified in the US. White poeple are called white. In the US there is a big difference between somone saying their white and someone saying they're european. Just like there is a difference between black and african.
I like the term African because it gives a physical location in the world. Many Africans want to define themselves in every capacity.Has our union with whites been beautiful for us?No!It's been miserable. For Africans it has been horrible.
This is like the example I gave a friend: If a person of European decent was to live in africa, 6 generations of that family lived in Africa. Would they not be African?
I think this is some political correctness that nations of mixed ethnicities have a problem with coming together and not dividing (America, england, etc.)
Nations such as Malaysia have mixed ethnic groups and gladly call one another Malaysian; only when asking of cultural background do they declare where their ancestors derived.
Yes they would be. Their nationality is Chinese. They would be ETHNICALLY whatever European group that they belong to. Nationality and Ethnicity I feel are two different things, but in homogeneous societies that may be hard to comprehend. Maybe I feel this way because I have a very blended family and its wrong to have people with that type of family deny one and acknowledge the other.
They would be african. I think the isuue is, if we call poeple of european origin "european americans", then, people of african origin must be called "african americans". Not "blacks". Just as people of asian origin would be "asian americans". If we call whites, simply "american", then we cannon call anyone else of origins abroad anything else but "american".
the thing that an African seems 2 get done to Asafo87 is occupy the bottom of the social-economic ladder without exception globally. 2b victims of the greatest holocaust, and stuggle in that legacy..
Are ALL blacks really from Africa?
I don't think so. Dark skin does not mean you HAD to originate in Africa, if white people are fighting to be called Africans, Afrikans, or even African Americans then is it really that far fetched to conceive the notion that all Blacks are NOT from Africa.

There are Haitians of pure European descent and on a flight to another country where it says nationally they would write Haitian, and if someone asked them there nationality they would reply Haitian. Afro-Haitians are not the native people btw
ricciuto1 7 months ago
@guttaboi88 Sorry I drifted off a little but yeh a nationality can be a person’s ethnicity also, but if you’re a citizen of a nation its your nationality. That’s all lol. I agree with what your saying anyway, saying someone’s nationality is African is stupid.

Very true! this is a serious problem amongst U.S African Americans, they use terms like black, colored, negro which are legal terms that denote property.

Confusing!

Also it takes a lot of energy to come up with black. More than any other. Its really not a color at all. Black substances have an ability to reflect or absorb any color without being changed very much. I encourage all to study the color black. It is really interesting and not evil at all. Why else would God make the original human black. Melanin Is not only synthesized in humans because of the sun.
braven001 1 year ago

Meant777 1 year ago 5
@yahkini64 I am From Africa and let me tell you that I have American friends of African descent with whom I get along very well. On the other hand, there are others who buy into the white man propaganda on Africa as "a land of savages" and they somehow believe that are superior to Africans, and some Africans are shocked by this time of behavior coming from people who were suppose to treat them like brothers. One bad experience can lead someone to put everyone in the same basket.

@rb7magnetico what do you call a black-skinned person from india? what do you call a light-skinned african-american? you call the black indian indian & you call the yellow african-american black LOL...white namers & classifiers have confused the whole world about AFRIKANS
maaruz1979 1 year ago
@maaruz1979 sorry I can't remember what I wrote all I can say is it's just useless labeling.Even the term Afric(k)an doesn't originate in Africa..The term as you may know is from a caucasoid man Scipio Africanus..so when so the term african american still gives reverence to the caucasian man.The title is just to label and limit.Would a algerian born in the usa be considered an african american? No..Same goes for the indigenous "americans" called indians.Labeled because of similar skintones.
rb7magnetico 1 year ago
@rb7magnetico that is debatable; the point is that "africa" represents a land mass, whatever name you call it...all wealth comes from the earth; & i am the people of that land mass..."black" represents a color...the whites will gladly take africa & they will be very happy when these "blacks" deny africa so they can grab it like they did before...maybe these "blacks" will be sent into a black hole outer space so they can revel in "blackness"; i can dig being 'black' but the foundation is africa
maaruz1979 1 year ago
@maaruz1979 well the land mass named after Scipio Africanus didn't have a name prior to being labeled "africa". The name originates for the north african tribe called the afri (caucasoid tribe). It has some double meanings where one means land of dust and the other meaning land of cave dwellers. Yes your right black is a color in the english language but in romance languages it is also color, darkeness and people etc hence the terms nero, negro, preto etc..
rb7magnetico 1 year ago
@rb7magnetico that is false..."africa" was once known as alkebulan..at various times it was also referred to as ethiopia; it depends who was describing it...
maaruz1979 1 year ago
@maaruz1979 no it's not false just an indifferent truth. It's still goes to the point on the word "african" is rooted to a caucasian man and has been for over a thousand years.Even the word alkebulan isn't "african" it roots from old arabic (caucasoids) and which debatably was introduced post "africanus"
rb7magnetico 1 year ago
@rb7magnetico It isn't about the word its about the concept. We need to understand what makes us who we are is not the color of our skin but the people and place we originally descended from. The place called africa gave us most of our genes and that is what makes us who we are. If you use the word black you give people the power to shape your identity strictly on your complexion and we all know how that has worked out for african people in the US. Willy Lynch is all I have to say.
fmcneillii 8 months ago
@rb7magnetico Your african identity should not be measured simply by the color of your skin but by what lives in you.

white is considered european but not specific to what country. but not all are light skinned. the same with latinos. theres a bunch of central and south american countries. but not all look the same. chinese and vietnames and koreans look slightly different but are considered asians. africans pretty much look the same. they have features that are diffrent from every other race. hence why people categorized them as negroes. cuz they were strangely different that was was considered the norm
thehowl666 2 years ago
now you don't see different between black people
black people r soooooooo different from each other

omarmahmood200407161 2 years ago
@thehowl666 WOW! they were 'categorized as negroes' because they have 'features that are different from every other race?'...i haven't seen anything this ridiculous in along time; "negro" is from the spanish word for the color black...are you saying there are no other dark-skinned races besides africans? no other wooly haired perople? no other people with diverse facial features?
maaruz1979 1 year ago
@maaruz1979 blacks DO look different than any other person in the world. if they do have the nappy hair its cuz they have black in them. sure other people might have big lips anf flat wide noses but not to the extent of blacks. same thing with skin tone. its been proven that black skulls measure different than white skulls for example. meaning that by just the skull alone someone can determine wether the person was black or not. and the word nigger comes from the word niger as in the country
thehowl666 1 year ago
@thehowl666 THAT IS TOTAL RUBBISH! african so-called 'blacks' are the most diverse people on the planet. they range from the darkest skin to extremelyt light skin...from very coarse hair to straight hair..,.from broad noses to long thin noses; from thick lips to thin lips; from extremely short to extremely tall...you can finds native africans that look like chinese people..you can find native africans that look like indian & arabs; your arguments are completely absurd..
maaruz1979 1 year ago
@maaruz1979 a true african will look like just like your typical black guy. if they look very different than that then you cant count on it that they have some different blood in them. just like mariah crey, halle berry, vanessa williams, etc
thehowl666 1 year ago
black people are called black cuz in no other part of the world through out history have there ever been people so different than any other race. unlike the rest of the world civilizations that traveled and conquered and mixed with other races, africa and their people for the most part were kept seperated. some one cant say that theyre white cuz its not specific to what part of europe they are from. but a black person came from africa and thats it. thats why they are called black.

(Nile Genesis: the opus of Gerald Massey)

its the way carribeans and black americans are made to feel about themselves and some african children have also picked up on this in western countries.. to africans either born in africa or born outside of african parentage, your culture and language is your main identity. so many of us are bi-lingual or tri-lingual fluent in our own languages and english or whatever european language of the country we live in..to the non african, we represent death and dispair, not progress or comfort.
oluwalogbon58 2 years ago
I would rather call myself black than say African.
Cos the term 'africa' does not originate from our continent. It comes from the Greeks. The term ous ancestors used call their land was 'KEMET'. Meaning the land of blacks. Fact.
The first Egyptians(blacks) used to call themselves kemits(africans) and Kemet(Africa).
I'm black. Not negro or coloured which are the construct of the racist europeen deranged mind.

black is a construct, black = negro in Spanish, Still in latin America people say Negro. Kemet means the land was black not the people. check your facts.

AFRICAN OR BLACK?
I am black. The Africans sold us to the white man. The what man took our names. We need names and culture that is not African or white. I hate them equally for slavery.
enyawix 3 years ago
This is not true and it hurts that some brothers till this date still believe that. The facts are that, The Europeans needed strong people to develop the new land, and Africa was really the only place where such man power existed. The Kings of Europe had refused that the local Indians be enslaved. Please note that slavery was as bad to the taken-away as it was to those who stood in place. Once again, we have been forced to learned history that was written for us by people who did not care.
kamerunite 3 years ago 2
Some Africans are rich to this day because of slavery. We should kill the families who sold us to the white man. Europeans are only guilty of excepting stolen goods. The Africans were the true criminals.
enyawix 3 years ago
It is naive to believe that if the "Africans" had refused to "sell" their brothers into slavery, the Europeans would have turned around and gone back to Europe. To my knowledge, Africans did not make much from the slave trade. Instead, Africa as whole has paid a gigantic price for all the manpower they lost to slavery. Those who profited and are still profiting from this trade are still around counting their huge sums of money. The facts are the facts, whether one likes them or not.
kamerunite 3 years ago 12
So you defend the people who sold us. You are no brother of mine.
enyawix 2 years ago
@kamerunite Agree with you. However, not all Africans were victims of slavery, and not all Africans are today victims of western imperialism. Few, most of the so called African elites, allied back then with Europeans and still do so and as long as we Africans do not deal with those internal threats we won't be able to put a stop to the external threats.

Etymology
Afri was the name of several peoples who dwelt in North Africa near Carthage. Their name is usually connected with Phoenician afar, "dust", but a 1981 theory[6] has asserted that it stems from a Berber word ifri meaning "cave", in reference to cave dwellers.
