I have never read the book....heard a lot of good things about this book...and if it helps me to win friends and influence people i will get the book asap.
Ok, the copy I got seemed to play way too slow, so I sped the voice up to make it sound normal. Now I find it here on YouTube at what also sounds to be the correct speed. I find another excerpt on YouTube, and one on a vendor's site, that has the narrator sounding slowed-down, as before. So what gives? Are there two versions out there, or do you just have good ears?
@MrSeriousintentions very true! reading it for the 3rd time now. I tend to fall victim to forgeting the teachings in the book after a while. reading it again will definitely help to internalise it and make it more apart of me.
I don't think so, but I think he wrote for a generation that is long dead. His philosophy of enthusiastic interest in others was well composed for the society in which he lived, but does it work for the more cynical and self-centered people of today, who do not have a positive vision of society and their own futures? Does Dale's enthusiam strike modern Americans as naive? Is a certain amount of indifference needed to influence the egotistical modern American?

@NonDramaZone The movie is free on Youtube. Just type in "zeitgeist moving forward". This is actually the second movie. Which I would recommend you see first.
WARNING: If you are in a "feel-good" stage of your life, I do not recommend you watch it because it will only hurt you. Better to remain ignorant and bliss than to see the truth and be miserable.
@anythingnew I know who you are talking about now. I've seen him before. WHile much of what he says is true, I think he talks out of both sides of his mouth. He damns capitalism, and yet immediately afterward says we are motivated by self-preservation. How can you be motivated in that way, and yet avoid competition?
@anythingnew Lots, if you understand that money is really an idea. It is an agreement that we will take government issued notes (or specie, or coconut shells, or whatever) as a symbol for wealth, and exchange it at a certain rate. It has the value that we agree it does. If you have none of it, you are in hot water, self-preservation-wise.
Look at most of the people from Japan and compare them to ghetto Blacks. How did this difference start? It started when they were children. They were nurtured the wrong way.
@anythingnew ""Nurture", then. lol." Nah, I think you had it right the first time.
But either way, yes, people can certainly have their behavior 'modified', but I think it comes down to self-preservation either way. As to the Japanese, look at how materialistic and utterly market-driven they have become.
No one wants to be criticize to or at, complaining gets you no where fast, and condemning others is just a waste of time. Dale Carnegie How To WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE..

@NonDramaZone According to Zeitgeist and Venus Project. We can fuck with people's head and program them pretty easily.

@anythingnew Not sure what those are. Do you mean zeitgeist in the general sense of 'spirit of the age'? Please tell me more.

@NonDramaZone Humans can be programed to not be greedy and nonviolent.

@anythingnew 'Programmed' sounds scarier than greedy and violent.
