Elton is rock royalty, a musical god. Amazing isn't enough. I've seen this dude 6 times in concert over 25 years, each one of them over three hours of front to back mind blowing talent. Beyond legend. Elton's been the soundtrack to my life.
I have nothing to add. I saw him live 7 times and I cannot wait for a repeat. EJ is the most important music in recent history. What is he coming to Japan again???
Amazing!!!! I love The Captain and The Kid...I have it on vinyl!!!! I saw the concert before I heard the album and he played the whole album just like he did with Captain Fantastic!!!!
Unless you have followed the succession of albums from a musical and personal perspective you may not find the absolute perfect musical and chronological life line sense
Each and every new song is the next verse in the music of my life...if it wasn't for Elton I would not have a piece of my heart-PerfectMusic!
Elton John, his band members and of course Bernie Taupin have written many deep and heartfelt songs in the 70 and they still capture many of us from their amazing piano sound and beautiful lyric. Yes, his falsetto is no longer there, but what more can you expect from his age? It is so hard to find this kind of music and talents in today musicians.
Wow, so cool to see the boys all lined up like that - although it did make me laugh a little to see that Nigel's mic is a good few inches below all the others! I wish they'd sing more! =]
Absolutely beautiful.. the band's harmonies are immaculately done, its so different to see them lined up like that, with Guy on keys.. fantastic performance. Elton's voice is amazing here.
he still writes beautiful melodies, Bernie still writes beautiful lyrics (ok, a little shmaltzy but still memorable). he sounds better live than most. deep, resonant voice. keep on Elton..you're an inspiration to a lot of people who've overcome adversity and are thankful for reaching the other side.
That's kinda funny, b/c I am a newer Elton fan but my dad has been one since the beginning. He said that he can remember reading about 4 times during the last 30yrs that he was retiring. He never will, which is fine with me.
this is wonderful :D

And his surgery, don't forget that. The fact that he kept going after that really says something about his commitment to what he does.

yepp the doctor said he should never sing again in 1986. and hes been singing and touring since then 23 years ago, and his voice sounds great!

Definitely addresses spirituality in this song. Every one of us has to cross the bridge someday...some of Elton's best vocals ever, in my opinion.
