  • Instead of the reader for best picture and director, it should have been The Dark Knight all along

  • where the fuck was the dark knight for best picture, best original screenplay and best director?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • I remember this.alot..I mean ALOT of people were outraged when The Dark Knight was not nominated for best movie, that was the year they desperately needed The Dark Knight to be nominated...year before it was the lowest rated oscars ever...because of that, this was the second lowest ever.Avatar being nominated the year after showed the ratings go up. But 10 movies is too much, but now it will be anywhere from 5-10 so they finally got it right, but Dark Knight should have been there, not the reader!

  • the oscars hate christopher nolan realized

  • @phjehan97 They have something against Christopher Nolan, i do not know what it is...but lets see what happens in OscARS 2013.....The Dark Knight Rises hopefully if its as good as The Dark Knight could be the 1st comic book movie nominated for Best Picture.....h should have been nominated for Inception though!

  • @stylus850 i agree

    :)

  • WHERE WAS THE DARK KNIGHT!

  • i have the feeling that they don't select the best animated feature, they just take all animated features, which came out in that year, and then they take the one which brought the most money

  • I thought The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was Brad Pitt's best work EVER. I saw a fully realized character and realized a universal message, which was to live your life to the very fullest no matter what your obstacle.

  • gran torino was a cool movie

  • robert downy jr? what about brad pitt for burn after reading? and what happens with gran torino? the only thing i liked was penelope and kate winslet

  • This was only a so-so year for the oscars in my opinion. Kate winslet?? Slumdog millionaire?? Dark knight? :\

  • best picture nominees should have been

    The Dark Knight

    Benjamin Button

    Slumdog Millionare

    The Wrestler

    Frost/Nixon

  • The Dark Knight was fucking robbed and just wow just wow......sad

  • Benjamin Button can suck my curious balls that movie was awful, Fincher directs awesome films like Zodiac, Seven and Fight Club, yet gets nominated for that dreck. Screenplay was the worst aspect of it. At least Brad Pitt went back to being brilliant in Inglourious Basterds

  • the nominations should of been something like this:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

    The Dark Knight

    Revoluntionary Road

    Gran Torino

    Milk

  • @QuietGiantProduction actually they should have been

    The Wrestler

    The Dark Knight

    Man on Wire

    Wall E

    Let the Right One In

but the academy seems to have a bias against superhero, animated, foreign and documentary films with regards to best picture

  • Google search "Stache500" and click on "2010 Oscar Nominations" for my predictions.

  • I See You from Avatar is really a great song. I don't know why it didn't won the golden globe and why the god damn of the academy awards didn't nominee it. I am so angry and disappointing with them.

  • THESE ARE THE 2008 NOMS

  • @roloug95

Well, yeah... it says "2009" because these awards were HOSTED in 2009.

  • @funkynubman omfg are you people retarded it is hosted in 2009 but it is a ceremony for 2008 movies ONLY so why are people talking about avatar and the road

  • @roloug95

    ...Exactly.

  • Where the hell is THE ROAD ???????

  • tropic of thunder?

  • "Slumdog" was like the critic's fav..."Benjamin Button" was the peoples fave of Best Picture, but "Dark Knight" was what a LOT of ppl wanted for Best Picture

  • Doesn't the socalled "expert" say a major mistake? Cause he says "The Reader; Didn't see that one gettin in there really, especially once Kate Winslet was not nominated for The Reader. Obviously they went for her in Revolutionary Road..." And it's the exact opposite...

  • -Supporting Actress: Amy Adams

    -Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger

-Lead Actress: Kate Winslet (because that was HER year, but I think Meryl Streep's performance was slightly better)

-Lead Actor: Mickey Rourke (because he would never have that role/chance again, but I think Sean Penn's performance was better)

    -Director: David Fincher

    -Original Screenplay: Wall-E

    -Adapted Screenplay: The Reader

    -Animated Feature: Wall-E

-Picture: Wall-E (but of the nominees, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)

  • the dark knight all the mofo way....

  • "For Tropic of Thunder" LOL!

  • I'm glad Angelina got a nomination for her wonderful performance in Changeling. But she was also snubbed for her best work in A Mighty Heart and Playing By Heart.

  • Also, I don't think Robert Downey Junior should have been nominated. Especially for Tropic Thunder, it is not an oscar worthy performance at all. And I thought Leonardo Dicaprio would've got a nomination for Revolutionary Road.

  • @theoj2 im with u, rob shouldnt have gottten an nom

  • for best supporting actor i think ever one of them deserved it.

for best actress in a leading role Anne Hathaway, Melissa leo, and Meryl Streep.

Best actor in a leading role I think Sean Penn, Mickey Rourke, Richard Jenkins, Brad Pitt.

Best original screen play Milk and Wall-e.

Best adapted screenplay Doubt and Benjamin Button and Slumdog.

Best picture everything but the reader and Frost Nixon. Kate Winslet and Frank Langella And the movies they were in are a joke.

  • love kate!!

  • AWESOME!!! go here mmmfreemovies[dot]com to download all the movies you want

  • he said Tropical Thunder, hehe.

  • Woo Penelope!

  • still to this day i do now know how/why slumdog millionaire won all the awards/nominations it did when it was a utterly s**t movie the acting was some of worst i seen, storyline was pretty unoriginal and done plenty of times (better seen in goal and rocky) only reason it was good was it shown the bad side of growing up in india which isnt enough make it a good movie benjamin button was a fantastic movie and a masterclass compated to slumdog benjamin button should have won more awards than it did

  • i halfway agree with you.

slumdog was amazing but it did not deserve ever win that it got.

best original score was one of those it got two songs nominated and i pesronally think that written wise we're coming down was amazing and better that slumdogs(i read the translations)

Benjamin button was just as brilliant as slumdog but i think that best adapted screenplay should just be best adaptation. because it's a completely different skill to make a movie out of a book or an original screenplay.

  • mira aqueroso, seann penn trabajo bien en milk y se merecia el premio y penelope cruz trabajo mejor que cualquier de todas las nominadas.

  • fhk

  • Finally Kate Winslet won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Umm wtf? The guy said Tropic of Thunder.

  • The Dark Knight should have been nominated for Best picture and Director not the Reader

  • I agred. The Dark Knight should have nomination for Picture and Director but instead of Frost/Nixon.

  • No, The Reader is a wonderful film. The Dark Knight deserved the nomination for Picture and Directing instead Frost/Nixon.

  • Frost?Nixion was good and also deserved to be nominated.

  • Frost/Nixon is better than the reader

  • Yeah, I agree beacuse Frost/Nixon was the great loser in every award ceremony

  • Yeah Frost/Nixon deserved actor and screenplay but not BP or director. Should have gone to TDK/Nolan. The Reader's a stunning film and shouldn't be bashed for this.

  • Haha, you can hear all the surprised people when downy jr is announced.

    He was great in TT

  • Yeah no Dark Knight for best picture

  • Just saw The Wrestler and Mickey Rourke was robbed, I really think that Sean Penn won for political reasons. Not to mention that Christopher Nolan denied for directing, not best picture but director. Frost Nixon under rated, better than Slumdog, in my opion.

  • This was the tightest Oscars race I watched so far. I was worried Slumdog might not win! And that Winslet might lose again!

  • I am still mad with the academy for ignoring Revolutionary Road. Ok, I got 4 nominations, not good enough. Kate, Leo, directing, best picture....where were they???

  • I don't think Kate received anything for Revolutionary Road because of her performance in The Reader. And DiCaprio was just kind of dull. It wasn't that great of a movie—all of the best picture nominees were better, mostly.

  • Tropic of Thunder?

  • for best picture they should have nominated gran torino and dark knight

  • I was happy with the winners and nominations, but I still think Leonardo DiCaprio should have gotten a nomination for Revolutionary Road. Sure, Brad Pitt was good in Benjamin Button, but it wasn't one of the best performances of the year.

  • very very lets hang around in our popular groups and talk about the same film and plug it to death oh a war film is always a good bet, johnny depp maybe the best versitile actor but he just wont conform very boring come on depp you deserve it

  • Best supporting actress Penelope Cruz for vicky, Cristina, Barcelona.

  • Best Foreign Film Nominee, Departures--very enlightening plot; on par with the new movie Toyko!--the triptych feature coming out in March.

The first segment "Interior Design" (Michel Gondry) parellels Departures in the premise of a young couple's quest for peace and purpose.

The films share a remarkably similar theme in the underpinning sentiments of each plot.

  • He said: "the 2008 Nominies" !!!

  • best picture slumdog millionaire

best actress kate winslet ,for the reader

best actor sean penn for the milk

best supporting actress penelope cruz for the wrestler

best supporting actor heath ledger for the dark knight

  • I wish they think about Gran Torino...Clint Eastwood is an amaizing director and actor

  • Go Heath!!

  • Bradpit

  • Go Penelope!!!

  • MERYL MERYL MERYL

  • Heath Ledger was an incredible actor no doubt, but i also think if he handn't off passed away i don't think he would of had as much recognition as he is getting.

    I think

    best actress - Kate Winslet

    best actor - Brad Pitt

best supporting actor - Robert Downey Jr

best supporting actress - Amy Adams

    best picture - Benjemin Button

  • best picture slumdog millionaire

best actress kate winslet ,for the reader

best actor Mickey Rourke for the wrestler

best supporting actress marrisa tomei for the wrestler

best supporting actor heath ledger for the dark knight

  • Kate Winslet in The Reader <3

  • Where can i watch the ceremony Live Streaming Online?

they dont broadcast it in our country (((((

  • Meryl Streep in Doubt <3

  • My bets:

    Picture: Benjamin Button

    Director: Danny Boyle

    Actor: Mickey Rourke

    Actress: Kate Winslet

    Supp. Actor: Heath Ledger

    Supp. Actress: Penélope Cruz

Wouldn't be the first time the Academy's chosen a different director from the best picture winner; Danny is almost a shoe-in to win, but knowing the Academy, they'll favor Button for best picture over Slumdog...

  • WAT THE HELL WHERES DARK NITE

  • In the toilet of the Academy. It shouldve been nominated for picture and director

  • Where is Leo from Revolutionary Road??? I can't believe they didn't nominate him!! Brad is a good actor but he didn't really have to act in B.B.

  • slumdog millionaire jai ho

  • heath ledger shouldnt win. He is the best, but if the acadamy denies him his award he will become a legend and will be solidified as one of the great actors of the decade. Sometimes losing is winning.

  • _My Choices:

Actor: Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler

Actress: Kate Winslet for The Reader

    S. Actor: Michael Shannon for Revolutionary Road

    S. Actress: Penélope Cruz for Vicky Cristina Barcelona

  • kate winslet and mickey rourke for oscars (:

  • go slumdog millionaire!!!

  • GO KATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GO HEATH!!!!!!

  • Gus Van Saint really deserves this oscar...so many amazing films he has done!!! And Milk was brilliant and important film!!!!

Amazing preformance of Sean Penn...hopefully no doubt that he wins for best actor!

    I cross my fingers!

  • GO DARK KNIGHT!!!!!

  • when was the oscar grammy awards? my mom is bugging me about it everyday

  • the grammys have past but the oscars are on feb. 22

  • I wish Mickey Rourke, Kate winslet, Viola Davis can get the oscar, because they are deserve to win.

  • Viola Davis is brilliant performance in "Doubt", she is deserve to get the oscar, but I think Penélope Cruz wins the oscar.

  • i don't know why they didn't put the dark knight 4 the best picture this film deserve more than 8 nomination reallly oscar is sooo diff. from other awards and u don't know how they are thinking about

  • heath ledger should win the oscar he already won a golden globe and a bafta for best supporting actor

  • i really hope Kate wins!..=)

  • Yes I really want she wins , but the performance

in Doubt of Maryl Streep is oustanding, remarkable, but I think finally Kate wins the Oscar

  • well I don't now what do you all think but for me the scene with Viola Davis in Doubt is so amazing that I would vote for Viola in supporting actress category. I hope also that finally Kate or Meryl will also win.

  • Comment removed

  • Boo! Gran Torino should have been nominated.

    But whatever.

  • Golden globe selections is way different from Oscars selection of the winners. Don't expect to be the same.

  • i dont understand why The Dark Knight has 8 nomination but not for best picture? It deserved at least to be nominated for best picture.(and even to won it)

  • There's actually a few predominent factors that screwed TDK (and even WALL-E) out of the Picture nom:

    - As amazing an achievement it is, it's still a comic book movie/genre film and the Academy doesn't see any real reason in honoring a "genre film" (even if said genre film got nominated for the major guild awards)

    - Harvey Weinstein showcased The Reader like a $2 whore (against the wishes of the director/producers) and the Academy took the bait.

  • best picture - Milk vs. Slumdog vs. Frost/Nixon

Best Actor - Penn vs. Rourke

Supporting Actor - Hoffman vs. Ledger

Supporting Actress - Adams vs. Tomei

Best Actress - Winslet vs. Streep

as of now, i'm still not sure if im right but Ledger and Hoffman are only two actors has a chance to get that award especially Downey and Rourke and Penn are also deserving to get that title!

  • Mickey Rourke in 'The Wrestler' is a amazing performance, he is deserve to get the oscar, but I think Sean Penn will win.

  • I've watched all of these performances and there are two individuals who deserve oscars more than anybody, and those two are Rourke and Ledger........their perfomances are all heart.

  • Josh Brolin was great in "W" I thought he would have gotten a best actor nomination

  • I am rootting for WALL-E

    Such a great film

  • i really hope kate winslet wins...btw how could she not be nominated for revolutionary road??

  • Am I the only one that doesn't like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button?

  • i liked it

  • I dunno, there's something about Pitt's acting--mainly in close-ups--that doesn't seem right.

    Something's up with his eyes.

  • Slumdog better win.

  • Comment removed

  • I think slumdog millionaire will win the picture. And also I want Kungfu panda to be won.

  • If Kungfu panda wins. I'll give the party! :)

  • we all know that wall e is gonna win though, that movie was a masterpiece!

  • slumdog millionaire for best picture

  • Amy Adams deserved to win this so much:)

  • Viola Davis WILL Win.

  • supporting actress:- teraji p. henson

    director:- Danny Boyle

    animated film:- Wall.e

best picture:- Curious Case of Ben Button

  • nice

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with them all apart from best picture, Slumdog should win by miles. I really didn't like Benjamin Button, it was very full of itself and seemed to desperate for awards.

  • You must be retarded or smoking crack.

    Because your choices are horrible.

  • slumdogg millionaire better get the nomination for best picture.

  • I KNOW!!!

  • I am a little upset that Gran Torino didn't get nominated in a single category, I really think that film is great : (

  • this is some of the strongest acting categories ive seen in a while. there are really no clear front-runners for either best actor OR supporting actress...

  • supporting actress:- teraji p. henson

    supporting actor:- heath ledger

    actress:- kate winslet

    actor:- sean penn

    director:- gus van sant

    animated film:- wall.e

    best picture:- milk

  • No.

  • Lets go heath ledger!!!

  • were the fuck is the dark night for best picture????

the rest of the list were ok

but picture of the year had to had dark night at least nominated

  • Best Supporting Actor has to be Robert Downey Jr. He is the most underrated actor ever! lol he did incredible in Tropic Thunder.

  • Melissa Leo needs to win!

  • ahh, I really gotta see Milk and Benjamin Button!

  • Holy **** Meryal streep 15 nomitaion LOL SHE IS HISTORY!

  • Yeah, The Reader........a very intelligent, well written little film, brilliant performances, Kross was snubbed a nom...not for kids or pervs....Button has all the elements of Best picture, acting, script, score, editing, etc.

  • I just watched the curious case of ben. buttons last night. this is a GREAT FILM! should be best film!!!!

  • The Dark Knight. That film defined 2008.

  • Best Picture - Slumdog Millionaire

Best Director - Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire)

Best Actor - Sean Penn - Mickey Rourke - Richard Jenkins

Best Actress - Anne Hathaway - Meryl Streep - Kate Winslet

Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger

Best Supporting Actress - Penélope Cruz

    Best Original Screenplay - Wall - E - In Bruges - Milk

Best Adapted Screenplay - Slumdog Millionaire

Best Foreign Film - Waltz with Bashir

    Best Animated Film - Wall - E

  • My predictions: Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire Actor: Sean Penn Actress: Kate Winslet (Meryl comes close, but maybe she can patiently wait for "Julie & Julia") Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger Supporting Actress: Penélope Cruz or Viola Davis... it seems to me they have equal chance Director: Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) Original Screenplay: Milk Adapted Screenplay: Slumdog Millionaire Foreign Film: Waltz with Bashir Animated Film: WALL-E
  • LOL same here, but actor is brad pitt!

  • Penélope Cruz is a very bad actress, she speak very bad ingles.

  • penelope cruz is a great actress thats why she have been nominated 2 times.. and about her english is not the best but i think she try to to her best,

  • ♠Slumdog is the only movie out of the nominations that deserves best picture.♠

  • Not true at all. What about MILK?

  • i agree, but i would have thought dark knight or gran torino would have been nominated

  • cate blanchett did very well in CCBB but she didn't get the nod..

  • Because it IS better than all of those movies that were nominated!

  • Supporting Male winner, imho (AND if Ledger never r.i.p.)

    ::RDJ::

    2.Ledger

    3.Brolin

    4.Shannon

    5. Hoffman

Too bad the Academy placed Winslet's Hanna role into the lead category. (J.Hud should've been a lead back in 07 btw.) She was a sure thing for Supporting Actress (now Viola or Taraji may just get it) and I don't see how she can beat out any of the other four nominees in Lead Actress.

  • Twilight for Best Picture?

Will Smith, Best Actor for Seven Pounds?

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt taking home two new babies?

You must be kidding me. First off, The Dark Knight was nominated in EIGHT categories, not just one, so stop being cranky. Second, only Rourke and Penn are ACTUALLY competing for the Best Actor Oscar, leave Brad out of it. Third, only Streep and Winslet are really vying for Best Actress, leave Angie out of it!

No comment for Best Picture nominees.

  • true, i think penn deserves it over rouke, but its close. id be happy with wither of them, they both deserve it

  • I already know that...

  • Best Supporting Actress: Penelope Cruz or Marisa Tomei

Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger or RDJ

    Best Actress: Anne Hathaway

Best Actor: Mickey Rourke or Richard Jenkins

    Best Director: Danny Boyle

Best Original Screenplay: H-G-L or In Bruges

Best Adapted Screenplay: Slumdog Millionaire or Benjamin Button

Best Foreign Language Film: Waltz with Bashir

    Best Animated Feature: Bolt

    Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire

  • Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger :D

    Best Supporting Actress: Taraji.p.Henson

    Best Actress: Angelina Jolie

    Best Actor: Brad Pitt

    Original Screenplay:Wall-E

    Adapted Screenplay: Benjamin Button

    Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire

    Animated Feature: Wall-E

  • Supporting Actress: Penelope Cruz but Amy Adams or Viola Davis will probably win

Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger 10 % shock win to Phiip Seymour Hoffman

Best Actress: Meryl Streep or Melissa Leo

Best Actor: Sean Penn. Possibly Brad Pitt

Best Director: Gus Van Sant or Ron Howard

    Original Screenplay: In Bruges

Adapted Screenplay: Benjamin Button should, Slumdog probably will

    Animated: WallE

Best Feature: Benjamin Button or Milk. Slumdog probably will and if so I LOSE ALL RESPECT FOR THE OSCARS

  • I'm incredibly torn for the best supporting actor:

Heath Ledger did so so so good as the Joker

But Robert Downey Jr. got an Oscar nod from a comedy movie

    I cant decide

  • I'm hoping that Heath Ledger will win. However if Robert Downey Jr. wins I'll be upset but not too upset because he did such an amazing job in tropic thunder it really made me laugh. However his performance isn't nearly as memorable as Heath Ledgers.

BUT IF ROBERT DOWNEY JR, OR HEATH LEDGER DOES NOT GET THE WIN THE OSCARS ARE GOING TO GET SOME HATE MAIL FROM ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean they already snubbed the dark knight from best picture.

  • Mickey Rourke was perfect and deserves to win best actor.

  • im sooo MAD the dark knight wasnt at least nominated! it really deserves it! im sure most people will agree with me....

  • Big left out throughout the whole award season... and I'm still not over her being snubbed last year by Tilda Swinton
