I think the cops did their job correctly, its like getting a pkg from FedEx, you don't know if its in there, you don't know what condition, yet u sign for it. So stop trying to make a stupid statement, and sign the papers and get the camera back. It's a liability thing saying they realised it to you and not anyone else. If some one else signs your name, its forgerery.... Stop being a dumbass and protest something worth protesting about.

I"m with you Dave. How can you be expected to sign a form stating that you have received property when you have no evidence that the item in question is in fact in the envelope? The least they should do is open the envelope in your presence and allow you to verify that it is, indeed, your phone.

What ever happened to the right of the people to peaceably assemble? Or the right to free speech? When they start with this crap about not gathering in groups or free speech zones, they are pushing tyranny. There is no LAW that allows them to do this stuff. There is also no AUTHORITY for them to act like Storm Troopers and confiscate equipment. When they give you a piece of paper, look at it and give it back saying you do not understand. It amazes me that these cops consider themsleves to be well educated, properly trained members of society yet they have all of these meaningless papers to sign concerning issues for which they have no actual authority. They presume to have the authority to steal our belongings as long as they can produce some official looking document to justify it all. We should refuse thier documents and demand they act in accordance with the law. Make them accountable.

He seemed reluctant to let you look through the other pages. Did you notice when you tried to read through it how he grabbed it back, and never let go after that?

why can't he just open the package, show you that it is your phone, then you sign. The car salesmen taking you for a test drive doesn't give you ownership of the car. How then can simply showing that the envelope does indeed contain your property constitute a transfer of possession if you never touch it until you signed for it.
