how do you make this robot speak? i just ordered an aibo today brand new in the box NOS but i wanted to know how i can "hack" it

@dtrtw Where did you buy it from as Sony don't sell them anymore? If its 210 new in box they don't come with any software, you have to purchase it seperately. Did you not check before you bought it what it came with?

@1AmberRose1 Sony was running low on cash. They decided to get rid of a few things, and the robotics department didn't make it. It was draining too much money. You can still buy them though.

This is a full adult personality, not learning software. The best software for the ERS 210 is Life 2 in my opinion, which is a learning software. I also like Hello Aibo which is a full adult personality.

How much did the software cost? Does the software make it kid friendly (Like tots)?

Expect to pay around £100 for Recognition software with accessories. A lot of people do not like it because of the voice and it is very repetitive. I sold mine. I would never let my Aibo's anywhere near very young children, they are certainly not toys... and very expensive to fix.

What is this Chatty life, Hello aibo, and Kawaii any way? Do they make a big difference in behavior?

Chatty life, Kawaii and Hello Aibo are all Japanese software.. they are not learning softwares but full adult personalities. Just like a fully grown Aibo really on Life software. Kawaii has a few crazy things like the Aibo will roll over and moves really quick

Nope there is no recognition software for the 3 series. The software you can get for 3 series is as follows: Aibo Life, Aibo Pal, Pal SE, Chatty Life, Hello Aibo, Kawaii.

It depends what software you bought it with.... this software is called Recognition whereas usually an Aibo will be sold with Life software or Hello Aibo. This is the only software for the 210 where it is able to talk and self charge.

OMG! Aibo Recognition is better than I thought! Call me sad but... I LOVE THE VOICE! Very cool how it makes teh aibo know what a tv is.

They are all so different...depends on your budget. I would say the ERS 7 Mind 3 as they are the most advanced, but expect to pay between £1000-£1800 for one.

Hi, I paid $40 just for the stick (no manuals, pole or mat).. had it shipped from America to the UK. I bought it from someone at one of the Aibo forums :)

I ran Recognition on my 210 for 10 minutes and that constant "pink ball pink ball pink ball" drove me nuts! LOL Maybe I'll run it again another time. Does your Aibo walk around very much with this Aiboware?

I know what you mean lol... when she did walk around it was...'walking along...'walking along'....'walking along'!!! Ahhhh. Yes the voice is awful but I do like a few qualities of the software. Apparently it was released before it was finished properly :(

The voice is a bit "freaky" indeed, but it makes the 210 so much cooler then just the usual bleeps.

It was asking or it was TV he was looking at. How impressive is that?

(I wonder or the ERS-7 is truly conscious of watching TV.)
