at 3:51 she says "Normal rangefinder cameras..." So Kaycee is calling this a rangefinder?? It may look like a rangefinder, but it is not a rangefinder. They have gone with Focus by Wire again even though this was slammed on the X100 (it is fantastic for making very fine focus adjustments)
It has to be said though, it is stylish, the pictures are superb, and they are actually shaking things up. I would love to see them bringing out a full frame X Series camera.
Finally, some company makes a move in the right direction. I am sick of everything looking like an iPhone. Fujifilm, count me as your customer (I already have 5 Fujinon binoculars, can't go wrong with this firm)
I want to know how it handles manual focus. Is it focus by wire for the new fuji lenses, and how do you see if you are in focus and where. This is interesting to know because of possible leica lenses - How you would find the focus with a leica lens mounted(or other manual focus lenses)
I wonder if that Q button can be disabled, I can kind of anticipate quickly messing up some settings while I walk around with it... I'm sure the reason 99.9% of the people that like these cameras (X100 too) is because it's so easy to access all key features manually. Addition of the Fn button at the perfect place to change ISO kind of completes the picture. I just set it to RAW and all the menus become unnecessary. Now if that Q button gets pressed by accident it could mess up some functions.
A serious con that X100 had was that you couldn't take photos while it was saving in multiple shot mode. Now I'm going to mark this walkthrough DISLIKE because Kacee, you yourself acknowledge this and then attempting to demonstrate @3:35 that x-Pro1 resolved this issue. You take consecutive shots, but then boldly cheating by NOT pressing anything while it's saving and just talking and then after several seconds - oh look I'm taking more pics while it's saving! So the question remains UNANSWERED.
Very nice camera but the price is crazy high. $1700 for the body? Maybe if it was a full-frame camera. I guess we will have to wait and see how it performs.
This sure is an alternative to leica. It was so obvious, but took so long to come back to the dials... and the aperture ring in the lens used to be so natural that I wonder how every manufacturer refused to get it back. They had to look at leica (once more) to learn how to do a pro´s camera. Hope they soon realize full frame is a necessity too. Oh, and a two tone model would look fantastic!
VERY VERY VERY good news! This is shows that digital cameras are becoming more and more like real cameras!! AWESOME news! Mechanical adjustment of aperture and shutter in a well built camera with interchangeable lenses!! a tiny bit too expensive but a far cry from LEICA foolishness...
now you can even access menu and shoot while buffer is filling.. sure we had that on real dslr´s but not on the mirror cameras yet.
I could not see anyone trying to convince their customers that their nex camera is a pro camera but you would get away with using this as your main camera ^^
That's BS about the slant, I don't think it is designed for that purpose. It sounded like it's a fuji innovation. This is a very old camera design, many old and new cameras has it, leica, contax, voigtlander, even canon G12 and others just to name a few. Also I've seen the LCD live double expousre thing in early Olympus dslr's.
I don't care about menus. I'm a photographer. I care about quality and ease of taking good photogaphs. I'm going to reserve judgement until I see what kind of image quality comes out of this thing. The menu tour was just ridiculous and pointless, at least for me. It took a while to buffer those images in after the burst rate demo.
@trevorpinnocky . Indeed menus should just be as simple as possible. As long as the major controls are easily accessed, the menus don’t matte much. Shutter Speed, Aperture, White Balance and ISO controls are the most important to be able to set quickly. Turning off any superfluous sounds should also be easy, but should only need to be done once.
@trevorpinnocky But you will be at the front of the que complaining when the camera dont do what you want it to do past manual iso settings.
If you listened to the video the burst rate was done in raw+jpeg mode and you can still carry on doing things while its writing which isnt actually that bad
come back with the name and price of the camera that does the things you want it to do!
Go back to film if you want full manual without menus then come and tell us how you got on lol.
@BlouseFashion Just wanted to note, that in the video it doesn't show if you can take photos after you shot some pictures. The reviewer waited several seconds before she pressed the shutter button. It could be because the camera could not take pictures right after taking several shots.
Well roared, I'm sick of menus anyway, the main appeal of this camera is near manual everything. Set to RAW, set ISO and aperture and off you click on A or metered manual. I'm sure the lenses are drop dead gorgeous, ALL Fuji lenses are. Picture quality, viewfinder (both optical and EVF), shutter lag, shutter noise, AF speed, low light performance – that's what matters really.
this is easily the best video preview ive seen about. ive tried ages to see somone actualy take a picture with it. and that burst mode is basically porn to me.
almost perfect. give me ISO and WB button physical one, not inside a menu, not even in a quick menu, manual focusing lenses that actually work like old time manual focus lenses, or at least like Nikon AF lenses which could be switch to complete manual, and I will ask nothing until next X-Pro2. For Fujifilm X-Pro2, update it with a full-frame sensor.

Awesome camera, looks beautifully made, not sure about the over complex menu though. Seems a bit over the top for options.

Nice specs and design, now what we want to know is:
How good/fast is AF?
Image quality...
And it's way to expensive Fuji. Heard about this thing called "recession" that world is in the middle of?

Hey Fujifilm, where is my x100 firmware update?
Auto focus on the x100 is very slow and often misses focus completely in low light situation.
Manual focus on the x100 is completely un-intuitive and takes dozen of turns to go from macro to infinity.
Do you think people will want to invest in your X-Pro1 system if your support for existing products is so abysmal?

Is the focusing/freezing problem fixable? I've never noticed it on any of the cameras I've used before.
a4gr 1 month ago
why the screen freeze when focusing...so strange.
& the focusing is not fast as I expected, with a external focusing system.
I saw another video reviews, the focus system makes me unhappy that usually cant focus rightly.
But the look of the camera prefect, wanna get one.
Hope the focusing system will give me surprise in other reviews. Please!
