  • Love your video gives me hope. We are looking to adopt a greyhound and have 3 burmese cats 1x 13 year old and 2 x 3 year olds who still have a mad dash around. How did you first introduce Rigg to your cats?

  • @ChappersSP You can ask the adoption groups for a cat safe dog. The group we adopted from tested them with cats small dogs and children and all of the dogs go through foster homes. Not all groups have that luxury, but they can usually tell you which dogs will chase and which won't.

  • That outdoor pen is nice.

  • Poor boy, he doesn't know what to make of them! Least he didn't chase them, thats a good sign. It took several weeks for our greyhounds to be cat safe, now the cats are boss! How is he without the muzzle?

  • Hi this vid was taken when Rigg had been about 3 days with us.. he didnt wear the muzzle again.. we may have been just lucky, and just as lucky with our second who was thought to be "keen".. he accepted the cats just as readily.. he doesnt wear a muzzle either...ever. see vid of them on the beach

  • No ours don't ever wear a muzzle anymore either. Will look for your beach video, have a look at my hound videos!

  • not sure if it's 'detraining'. some greys are cat-friendly, some are not (or small dog friendly/not small dog friendly). just like any other breed.

  • I know this, "cat detraining" was just a term I used as this is the phrase used on all the introduction info I found on the internet prior to adopting Rigr, as it happens our next grey was fine too..but dogs who are not cat friendly can be familiarised (detrained) not to chase cats too..takes time but it can be done with a lot of non friendly greys

  • I have cats and am thinking about adopting a greyhound, so I'm reading up a lot on how to "cat train" the greyhound. It was useful to see a video of an actual greyhound with cats!

  • where did u get the muzzle from i cannot seem to find one

  • well we have two hounds now, rigr(the 1 in the vid) and freki , another black one and they get on fine with the cats

  • aww what a georgous greyhound he looks like hes doing well with them we have cats too and a little black girl there great pets the best dogs ever good luck with him xx
