  • Thats it ! This thing makes me crazy ! Very Very Unconventional !! i will trade in my ipad 2 for New Galaxy tab..

    Bye bye apple

  • i don't have notepad++ and my computer says when I download it, that it's a threat... how can I still corrupt the file?

  • @adoringjonas make sure you download notepad++ from their official website, first link when you google "notepad++".

Alternatively, any text editor will work, like Notepad that comes with Windows... I just happen to use notepad++ because I like it.

  • I think it is pretty friggin stupid they designed it this way to begin with. You should just be able to sync without your files being replaced.

  • It transferred my apps okay but it still wants to erase my music to sync any ideas?

  • @danomate1 erase it off your phone? or your computer? If you have a copy on your computer, you should still be able to re-sync it up to your phone if it removes it from your phone.

  • One question, what if I don't have a copy of my itunes music library file from my old computer? I've rebooted my computer and now I want to sync my iphone onto my new laptop. I've never used the homeshare method so I don't have any copy of my old itunes library file. I'd be really grateful if you could help.

  • @Razenjann I've heard there is some iPhone Transfer software out there... never heard of them, but that's probably your only option (or go ask the Apple Genius Bar)

  • nice one matey,

  • @lewayotte I just checked everything is working fine except Contacts Sync. It shows that replace and new computer error. Any way to fix that?

  • Saved my life! thank you.

  • @bornleader777 No problem, I'll be adding "life saving" to my resume :)

  • What if you dont have the old iTunes file?

    My other computer crashed...

  • @Sunen001 if your other computer's harddrive still works, you can take it out and plug it into the new computer... then transfer the files that way.

  • Scrap all of that...

transfer all your stuff across then

    Backup iphone/ipad on original computer

find latest back up in c:\Users\'user'\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\mobilesync\backup

copy the latest one (modified date should be present time) to an external hard drive. and copyit to the same location on the new PC/Laptop then connect the device and viola....

to find the location you will need to be able to view hidden files

  • I'm kind of confused about the new computer music library

  • Thanks! However, now that we have iCloud, we no longer need this. :) I was freaked out over the past week and ready to apply your hack when a friend SHOWED ME that iCloud backs up all the settings and app data and app organization on the iPhone. Then you just transfer iTunes library (external hard drive or flash drive), then "transfer purchases" from phone, then sync and the message of deleting apps does not show up because of iCloud.

  • It worked even though I had to reimport my library, I am still REALLY happy :)

  • Darn, all of my music library is gone, I'm hoping that when I import them again it will work though.

  • Thank you so fuking much:)

  • Ok i know what to do now but how does that other method not work by just changing the key number it would be so much simpler:)

  • @byrnesy919 That would be simpler, but the new file doesn't contain the same information as the old file (at least it didn't for me). Before I made this video I tried just copying the key number and it didn't work.

  • @lewayotte wat if i dont have my old music library file coz my laptop was stolen???? wat should i do?? please help me...

  • @glandz812 iTunes has a "purchased" section, you should be able to re-download your purchased music again...

  • hi can please tell me what you did from 2:28 to 2:40 in the video i do not understand what you copied or pasted it to?Please

  • @byrnesy919 The old iTune Music Library file was edited, then selected all, then copy... the in the new iTune Music Library file, I selected it all and pasted.

  • @itsguitarmanrourke Not sure about play count and ratings... artwork should though.

  • Thanks a lot bro :) Worked like a charm

  • Work.

Windows 7 as the old computer ----> Mac new computer.

    Bless you.

  • Life saver man :), saved my music & time, ♥ you man! (NO HOMO :D)

  • And what about conacts and messages?? Thanks for answer

  • @MrDenyzor I think your text messages can't be transferred... but you can backup your contacts in iTunes.

  • thank you so much man....you saved me from a lot of trouble

  • Great Vid! Worked flawlessly I've already used this twice lol Thanks a lot!

  • Yes! Worked beautifully when I had to reinstall my OS!

  • any tips on how to do this if my new computer is a mac?

  • @deroncky96 I don't own a mac... but it is probably a very similar process, just need to find the proper files, etc.

  • Just done this to my new lap top with my iphone....

Works a treat. Thanks a ton for this Bud! MASSIVE Help

    Take it easy :)

  • @HarryHopkinson no problem, glad I could help... Apple makes it a huge pain, but this little work made it so much better. I did end up losing my homemade ringtones, but that's ok...

  • Thanks for the video. I’m amazed as to how difficult itunes makes it when transfering everything to a new computer.

Having followed your tutorial, I’m at the last stage where iTunes is “Importing iTunes music library.xml” but it hasn’t moved on from there. It just hangs. The green bar is searching, not loading through files.

I’m using Windows 7, my library is on an external hard drive which I have assigned the same disk drive letter as my old computer. Any ideas?
