  • Them boxer well still your wnt they i have a 3 yr old and he's the biggest baby ever i love him like one of my kids . Im sorry for your lose ....

  • I replaced the name Lori with "Allie". She was the best dog (Boxer) I ever had, and passed last Feb. I play this song on my guitar and sing it to my wife who breaks down and sobs every. single. time. Can't help singing it though... it's a remembrance.

  • He sounds like Merle Haggard to me in a way.... Both are legends!

  • Keith Whitley was one of the best singers ever...he had a heart of gold too! It makes me sad that the addiction finally took his life! I know what the battle of the bottle is I too have had to fight it nearly my whole life...since the age of 15...its not an easy fight!! So if youve never started ,please DON'T.. and if your trying to quit..get all the supprt you can !

  • Not sure if it is true but an Urban Legend about this song is that Lorrie Morgan was out on tour when he recorded this song from his living room, after he finished recording this song he took his life. That is why you can hear the TV in the background.

  • @ME19801990 he died from acute ethynolism(alcohol poisoning).he didnt kill himself.he had an addiction he couldnt overcome

  • tell lorrie i love her..tell lorrie i need her..telller everything ull be okay if i could just see her..tell lorrie i lover her..tell lorrie i need her..n if i leave this whole world tell her shes the only girl for me..<3

  • Great video- song from the heart.

  • His voice is amazing...I love it.

  • Replace Lorrie with your name

  • One of my favorites. If you listen closely.... you can hear his t.v going..... kind of eerie feeling.

  • This is 1 of those songs that you know has a powerful meaning because you feel the goosebumps hit you all of a sudden.

    R.I.P. Keith <3

  • Keith is not dead.. I see him everytime I look into the mirror......

  • this song is one of the greatest

  • Sure wish we could of went fishen Keith, But one day we will.

  • By far one of the best country singers ever to live.Great song, great singer.

  • it gives you chills to know this is the last song he wrote and recorded >.<

  • I just had to sing this song on u tube he's the best singer in my heart check it out under 1971bradley my wifes name is Loretta so I changed a few things check it out but he's always in my heart

  • oK...i am reading lorrie's book, and she says he recorded this for her right before she went on tour, it was about 3 weeks before his death. If you're a Keith Whitley fan, I suggest reading her book, it's called "Forever yours, Faithfully"

  • mistakes should be forgivin we are all human

  • think about it the blond killeed him

  • THIS IS DEFINATELY A CLASSIC----IF----THERE HAS EVER BEEN ONE!!!!

  • Tell janette the same

  • Tell Chris that I love him :'( RIP sweetheart

  • This the first time i have ever hear this song and it just broke my heart.... :(

  • This is an amazing song

  • No other song on the face of the planet is as true and emotional as this one. I mean this is straight from the heart, reminds me of Lennons Mother or Kurt Kobains you know you're right. It reaches beyond the grave like a farewell letter.

  • Facts straight please. Keith died at home of alcohol poisoning. Lorrie was in Canada on tour. She tried so hard to save him from alcohol, he was her greatest love. Their story is so heartbreaking and of course ended in tragedy.

  • thts too bad

  • OMG THIS SONG MAKES ME CRY ITS SO BEAUTIFUL N TRUE

  • Lori didn't kill anyone. Keith had a deadly illness called alcholism. He died alone at home after ODing on whiskey. His illness killed him.

  • Lorie killed him she broke his heart!

  • i know its a dumb question...but what happen to Keith? didn't know he passed!

  • @atm682718 He drank himself to death in 1988 or 1989 I think. He checked into a motel with a big bottle of Jack and came out feet first. I was very upset that day. I am a huge Keith Whitley fan.

  • @jlehner1 He died of a broken heart

  • This song is what made me realize what death was... it is after the fact but you can still hear in his voice what was gonna happen. I cry every time I hear it.

  • @sbb29 ur right i think the floain aimlessly part is him strapped to a raft like the indians did when sum1 died

  • Just a beautiful, beautiful song!!

  • Such a heartfelt beautiful song. I almost cry every time I hear it, you could really feel his love for Lorrie. He was a true Candle in The Wind.

  • Beautiful song

  • Lol my name is lory :D ... butt really good song and a hell of a good singer

  • This has just brought tears to my eyes. I can hear everything he was feeling as he was singing this. R.I.P. Keith

  • Such a powerful song to listen to. Especially when you think of what actually happened to Keith. It really hits you right in the gut.

  • @Jatycre Actually he died the night he taped this. He was in his basement. Lori R.

  • @Jatycre what happened?

  • @shawtyismymelody Keith lost everything, including his life, to alcoholism. He lost his wife prior to his death, due to it as well. He eventually drank himself to death early one morning.

  • @Jatycre awwwwwwww

  • It sweet; my dad dedicated this song to my mother, but her names Sherry. ( R.I.P Dad. )

  • 4 dislikes? How can anyone possibly dislike this song?!!!

  • my daddy used to sing this to me when i was blue.. for my name is lorie.. growin up it annoyed me when daddy would play this song and sing it at the top of his lungs.. boy what i would give to hear him sing it today. had my world ripped apart this week and i got no daddy for hes in heaven now but i still got this song. rip daddy ron hager sr. save a spot for me daddy ill be with ya again soon!!

  • @lhouston2010 my dad played the guitar and sing this song... his sisters name was lorrie... but... he sang it for my mother... and he is in heaven now for almost 20 yrs... sorry for your lost... this song means alot to alot of people...

  • @lhouston2010 my daddy played this song for us... with the guitar and sing.... i would give anything to hear him again his sisters name was lorrie but he song this song to my mother.... and us kids... he has been gone for 20 yrs now..... i am sorry to hear your lost.... but when i read your post it touch my heart... i wish that man was here next to me singing to us... god bless you

  • @ArcTicHaZeFTW Kieth was one of my dads favorite singers and hes my favorite 2 my dad died when i was 7 years old im 15 now almost 16 and i can still remember him singin keiths songs he didnt play it on the guitar but he knew every word to every song R.I,P. Charles M. Heaberlin- Son husband and father

  • @jbub338 God Bless. Keith had one of the best voices ever. Your father had good taste. Never forget that!!

  • @402maypo thank you

  • I enjoy a lot of country music but in all honesty if Kieth Whitley were still alive he would be rivaled only by George Strait for beautiful and meaningful songs.

  • He was my uncle, I never had the chance to meet him though....

  • This guy's name fits perfectly in place of Lorrie's :)

  • Keith Whitley was awesome. My husband loved his music R.I.P Ronald Goodman Sr I miss you so much

  • He's the Best to bad his fame and Love died early!

  • thats a silly statement . the booz did it and dont ever forget that , I guess you never had anyone close to you that was a alcoholic,, they wont listen they forget everything but the bottle they have no feeling for anything so go read up on drinking and see if its the drinker or the partner

  • I Wonder How Lorrie Morgan Feels After Hearing This, Now That He's Dead, And She's Responsible For It????

  • @TaNkGaUgE8921 your fukin sick in the head

  • @TaNkGaUgE8921 she didn't do it. he did. he made a choice to drink and not be sober. he chose alcohol over his wife. she told him it was the booze or them and he chose booze. he was a wonderful singer, but like many he chose his drug (alcohol) over his family and friends.

  • What is this recorded on a goddamn Tascam 4 track cassette recorder at home? So lo-fi. So honest and beautiful it makes me tear up.

  • @nancythetall Yes i dont know it for fact but the storie goes that after his death this song was found in some of his stuff that he recorded at home and was never recorded in a studio, dont know if the story is true im glad it was found and have listened to it a thousand times at least!!!!

  • if you can listen to this without getting choked up...well, you're more stealth than me. love KW!

  • @jhnchapa nashvill country is crap, but keith was not of this new nashville scene. he was a true and genuine artist. his music is how country should be played. its a shame nashville has taken such a personal and real music form and transformed it into the crap we here today...

  • a beautiful song sung with such emotion. A great country loss when we lost Keith I never new him, I wish I did.

  • I love this song, its a song sung from the heart for his soulmate, lorrie !!! i hate it that he left this world the way he did and way too soon, tim

  • if you listen to the song good enough you can hear the TV in the back ground

  • @ironhead309 thats cuz this song was recorded in his bedroom after Lorie left, Keith knew he was dying and he recorded this last song as his dying wish to the true love of his life. That is why this song was so Raw, it was recorded right before he died.......like within hours of his death.

  • @ChazztheSpazz69

i thought this song was recorded a good while before his death....like before his wedding. it was released after he died, but i was thinking it was recorded a good while before.

  • @24pipewrench I thought he wrote it just hours before his death and recorded it in his home studio. thats the reason for the bad quality sound. I believe its the only recorded version at least I have never found another. Simply Amazing song whenever it was written.

  • I love this song and Keith Whitley! My dad loved country music and use to sing this to me......My name is Lorie. My dad is gone now and I miss him so much!

  • Keith Whitley is all we need to know RIp . Thanks for your music

  • my dad sang this to me and played the guitar. this song is so beautiful

  • How could anyone give this a thumb down? What losers!

  • I believe Keith and Lorrie had a Love, a bond that none of us could understand. She put up with so much, he knew that he put her thru hell. I just believe he knew. And this was his apology. It's emotionally raw, absolutely beautiful.

I adore Lorrie and Keith too. Pure Country Genius. May he rest well.

  • @jpence80 you need to do some research...she put him through hell with her cheating ways..she drove him to his death!

  • @stevewm1963 Booze put him down not a cheating wife!

  • @zoot2233 that is a well known fact that she was cheating on him

  • if were alone in the desert with out a drink a water around on my knees and hands and that white scorchin sand with the hot sieera sun beaten, down if I could be granted my wishes and anything i want would come true I know that it might sound funny but heres what i want you to do ........Tell Wendy I LOVE HER.TELL WENDY I NEED HER, TELL HER EVRYTHING WOULD BE OK IF I COULD JU ST SEE HER ,TELL WENDY I LOVE HER ,TELL WENDY I NEED HER AND IF I LEAVE OLD WORLD SHES THE ONLY GIRL FOR ME !!!!!!!!!

  • Rest in peace Keith, If anybody deserves to be in the country music hall of fame its you. What would country music today be without you.

  • Alcoholism is a disease of the brain. Once you are addicted God help you. This is a disease that comes with shame and disappointment. No one wants to be labeled an alcoholic, If you get help early there is hope. I lost my 22 yr old son Sean to his addiction to Ritalin/methylphenadate Nov 4 2009. He had had been prescribed yhis drug since he was 12. He asked me why God gave him this curse. He seemed to have no control. When the brain is damaged the decision process is effected. Love ya Sean

  • Logan WestVirginia.Tell Lana I love Her....ILove You Lana

  • Dunlow, West Virginia

  • 21 years old yesterday i turned and 21 years a true country legend has been gone from the great world than we call home . He will for ever be honored in my memory as one of the many classic country singers as being truly one of the best .

  • To anyone who has an alcohol problem i am not here to preach to u, but rather to extend my hand out to you as a lifeline. I know what u r going through. I walked down the same road as you did. U think life is unbearable, feeling sorry for yourself and no one cares for you and the bottle is your only escape, it's not. If u need to talk or looking 4 help i know qualified people who will bend over backwards to help u. Leave me a msg and phone number in my inbox and i will get back with u.

  • Keith Whitley was the man period. Everybody on here knows that, if u didnt u wouldnt be on here posting comments. Alcoholism kills period, no if's and's or but''s . It kills the body in some cases and others it kills families, relationships. Can u overcome it? Some do some don't. To bad my idol, hero, and friend couldn't overcome it. Is there help out there for alcoholics? YES!!!!. Will it be easy ? NO!!!. Can u do it? YES!!!. Is it worth it? HELL YEAH!!!!. Me, sober 10yrs. No excuses.

  • @lno71 it ant easy but i am trying

hope i dont end up like my favorite singer it does run in the family

  • @lno71 I just want to tell you how how much I think amazing that is! You sound like a very smart person and thanks for sharing that.

  • @lno71 thats inspirational

  • @lno71 If Lorrie wasn't horrie he might still be here!!!!!

  • i loved my cuz keith very dearly miss him evry day he taught me evry thing i know about music cz of him i can play a guitar like picking corn ,i can sing ,write the best songs keith i love you and miss you so dearly you might be gone but not forgotton ,your cuz payne leyanne garrison

  • @lno71 very nice comment bless you

  • @lno71 keith was with lorrie morgan she was cheating on him my dad was personal friends with him so unless you know for sure dont make false statements

  • @lno71 my name is kevin and im a alcoholic. i get on my wifes computer and listen to thes sad depressing songs and i wont to die more than iv never thought of. i cought her with my best friend in my car and i cant get that out of my mind. iv tried quiting drinking now for sometime and now i drink all the time. I NEED HELP

  • @kristy9804 Take it from an oldman whos been there drugs alcohol you name it you can do it . It just takes the will to do it, You need help get it! Its that simple. But the crap with your wife behind you. Its not an excuse for throwing your life away its a reason to get on with your life. Your not alone my brother!

  • @kristy9804 first start with the music to change what you are hearing to something more positive. Then call some one. Call a Counseling Center. Put the drink down for awhile. Try to connect with someone and do something that is not about you. I am not being insensitive but if you are helping someone or doing something you can more easily handle overlooking memories and thoughts that keep popping up in you own head that hold you back.

  • @lno71

Listen to Keith every day still and just check myself in, I'm gonna beat it.

  • @airbornbuckeye You'll beat it brother. I have faith in your courage!

  • @lno71 AMEN! Too many critics when they have no clue!

  • @lno71 yeah, my grandpa started drinking at the age of 16. married my grandma, raised nine children. all became very successful in life. married to the same woman for over 60 years, died at the age of 96. the booze finally nailed him. wonder how long he might have lived if he would have quit drinking.

  • ok does that mean that if u play the guitar its ok to get fucked up become famous and commit suicide via alcohol poison?????

  • @TimNotgrass here it is take it for what it is worth. question to you when u drink do u think about this shit might kill me..no all u want to do is drink and have a good time. did keith realize that night that drinking was going to kill him no .maybe he wanted to drink because he had problems hell i dont know or just maybe he had an aquired taste for it. the point is we lost a great singer in him and that i know first hand what it can do and the help is there if u r willing to go after it

  • @lno71 my apologies.......Keith was one of the greatest singers to ever grace the waves of country music, truth is i was sitting here with my guitar thinking of people like him, hank Sr., my uncle and my Dad and wondered if i too would eventually end up like the. so as i pop todays first top.....cheers to them!!

  • Another dead alkie.

    Hahahahahaha!!!

  • @castletriglav - And you know so much - ha-friggin'-ha-ha. It's a disease, you ignorant idiot. The only reason for you to post something so ugly & hateful is that you are jealous of the gift he had. What have you done with your life? And as far as what Lorrie's done with her life, it's really none of your business. It's obvious that she loved him. Maybe it did get to be too much for her to deal with. Who could blame her, other than you? Sounds to me that you've dealt with an alcoholic.

  • @castletriglav you dont know what life is about until you live it so dont judge nobody

  • @castletriglav beautiful man acting like a dumb ass just to get attention awww man i gone and gave you attention so since i allready did i send you a heartfelt f*ck off you insignificant little prick.

  • We all miss you Keith including Lorrie

  • @1witchshaman Actually, Lorrie's been getting nailed on a regular basis, so, she's fine. I imagine she's happy to be rid of that useless alkie.

  • It's too bad Lorrie (Morgan) didn't believe him; if she had , Keith Whitley might still be with us today.

    Rest in Piece, Keith

  • you dont know true country until you have heard the good stuff like keith whitley! He is such a beautiful singer nobody else can carry a tune like him he is an original singer to bad he is gone): i wish i could have met him and told him he is like no other singer!! :]]

  • @leeman1971 my grandfather used to sang this song after my grandmother left him they were in a band and i wish they both were still here because they are true artists he sounds like my grandfather rip arley taft stults

  • you dont know true country until you have heard the good stuff like keith whitley! He is such a beautiful singer nobody else can carry a tune like him he is an original singer to bad he is gone): i wish i could have met him and told him he is like no other singer!! :]] love you keith whitley

  • I can relate to Keith's disease, i used to be an alcoholic and that disease took everything away from me that i loved in this world. It took away my family, friends and my idol and friend Keith Whitley. Alcoholism destroys the one thing that all of us hold dear and that is family. I cant undo what i have done in the past only learn and move on. I am proud to say i have been sober 4 10 yrs now but everyday its a constant struggle. Only time can heal things. God bless u all. R.I.P. Keith W.

  • Amazing song sad though =(

  • "...if all of the fish in the water could echo my last dyin' plea, well, I know you might not understand it, but here's what I'd want it to be...."Tell Lorrie I love her..." ~ Keith Whitley

  • my dad played in a band all his life he was also an alcoholic but he was sober for this past 18 years but all his drinking finally caught up with him and he died of liver cancer 0n 7/8/2010 but he helped so so many people in those 18 years of not drinking and so many people from AA came to his wake and told us he saved their life he made us so proud i love him so much

  • @imoanxnaomi I am sorry for your loss. Your Dad was a strong, and I'm SURE a wonderful man! I'm glad he died sober...some people never make it to sobriety. AA people are awesome! God bless you and thank you for sharing this.

  • Never knew anything about this song, and was just doing a search on here re: my husband who passed away! My husband passed 2008 and i feel he led me here!

By the way......My name is Lori!

    <3 U 2 Lee!!!! C U N Heaven!!!

  • @Angelite7 It's an awesome song that speaks volumes to me and to Lorrie, I'm sure! I was touched deeply, as it helps me to realize that people are lovable even when they are stricken with the disease of alcoholism. Keith Whitley was such a man.

  • Bless 'em both

  • he was a great man my whole family loves his music

  • i love keith, i play getar 2 but i wish i could play like he did. 1 hell of an artest. im glade i got 2 hear him play.

  • A half gallon of Jack Daniels took this man from us its sad!

  • this brings back some memories...

  • RIP!!!! You will never be forgotten!!!!

  • so sad the last recording of this song.......he was so drunk..........and you could tell but think he new his time was up.............it was so emotional...........he was a great singer

  • Where did real country music go??? And why did it change so drastically in the last 10 years or so??

  • @livelaughlove389 It changed because of Garth Brooks.

  • @blondes4mee You're right Erich! There are not many Garth Brooks songs I like.

  • @livelaughlove389 (Hiya S.!) And the reason why you don't like many of his songs is because you like TRUE Country music. Real stuff, like Keith's or Wade's, ya know.

  • @blondes4mee ......so true so true.....true country music needs to come back, and let them see how well received it is!

  • This is just as strong when I hear it today as it was years ago...it is a shame that we lost this man.

  • @tarey76 sadly his demons made his passion rip kw

  • It's a shame she didn't love him enough back. RIP Keith. <3
