Judas Priest and Black Sabbath are heavy metal and always have been! There sound has changed over the years especially from the start but they were always able to change with the times. Judas has been around since 1968. They and Black Sabbath are not hard rock since they were one of the few bands that started the genre of heavy metal to begin with. I know since I grew up with this stuff. You cannot judge heavy metal by todays standards with groups from the 1970s! Todays metal is different.

WOW. Didn´t hear this version. Even before the sad wings of destiny album came out. This song is unbelieveble. Not only because of the fantastic rob vocals; but also because of the terrific heavy sound. So heavy and mistycal. P[lus the electric guitar riff is awesome. This song is absolutely brilliant

Judas Priest and Black Sabbath are heavy metal and always have been! There sound has changed over the years especially from the start but they were always able to change with the times. Judas has been around since 1968. They and Black Sabbath are not hard rock since they were one of the few bands that started the genre of heavy metal to begin with. I know since I grew up with this stuff. You cannot judge heavy metal by todays standards with groups from the 1970s! Todays metal is different.

Black Sabbath is a metal band. Rob Halford even acknowledges them as a Heavy Metal band. 1975 was a great year though for Judas Priest and Black Sabbath with song like Priest's Deceiver and And Sabbath's Symptom of the Universe.

@bobmarleyisgod1 Don't be ignorant in thinking I was being literal or that there actually is a "first metal band". You will not find anything like Deceiver in Black Sabbath's arsenal of the time; the soaring vocals over the fast chugging which becomes dominant in later metal was innovated here.

This song (along with Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan" and "Solitude") is the reason I finally lost my virginity when I was 17 after many futile attempts to convince that girl that metal is not just pointless headbanging, that there's a lot of passion and emotions involved.
