Most of the people who compulsively eat do so because it comforts them and that comfort helps them cope with depression. I ate because I was depressed. I didn't care if it was bad for me, I needed to feel that comfort. I'm not as hard on myself anymore, and that's because I was encouraged to like myself and to treat myself better. I know more people who ate out of depression than people who were just greedy.
