I'm so happy for Samuel; he found his family! It seems incredible that for two years the Belgian authorities could not come to a quick decision in the best interest of this child. It is so obvious that Samuel should be with his parents and not in an orphanage!
That is unbelieveable!. The child is the biological child of one of the men. The fact that he was denied a passport and made to live in an orphanage is disgusting even though his dad is Belgian .Congratulations on finally winning the battle
Wow, this is a really moving story. I hope this family will be able to find peace, they seem like such genuinely good people. I always criticize America for not allowing us gays a whole plethora of things; I often forget that people don't exactly have it easy across the Atlantic either.
Just a small observation (forgive my curiosity): one of the dads speaks Dutch, while the other one speaks French. How do they communicate with each other? Does everyone in Belgium understand French?
@wolfheart19891 as Belgium is a bilingual country (actually, it's trilingual), every Flemish child learns French as of primary school.. Peter worked in Brussels, so he would've spoken French in his profession almost 85% of the time, that's a sure way to learn a language.. Laurent and Peter speak French witch each other and with Samuel
Belgium's official languages are both French and Flemish (dialect of Dutch). Everybody speaks both, and you'll find many people in the Netherlands and Belgium that speak perfect English and German on top of that, plus any others that might interest them (Italian, Spanish, etc). What a beautiful story and family; it goes to show that we gay men can be great parents, too.
this is a terrible story that happened to Samuel and his dads. I wish it never happens again! This must have been two awful years for them. I wish all will be fantastic for them now.
3:29 This image says more than a thousand words. So heartwarming, so beautiful. This boy is blessed, growing up with 2 fathers who love him more than anything.
It is like a fairytale. A little boy, reunited with his two, ever so good looking dads. I was touched by the sensitivity of the guys. I can only wish them happiness and a long life together. Love to you all.
Putting aside issues of gay surrogacy and adoption temporarily, the fundamental thing is that this child is now in a stable home with loving parents, and he is the centre of their universe. Every child should be this lucky.
Only a deluded mind could think that politics, bigotry and bureaucracy supersedes that.
The scars were unnecessary. But the wounds will heal.
This made me cry so hard. I'm so happy for this family even though I don't know them. It's nice to know beautiful things still happen in our sometimes homophobic world. :)
@kamello2002 Yo también estoy muy feliz , la verdad que me ha emocionado mucho ver a los padres luchar por su hijo.Todo un ejemplo para un mundo tan homófobo como este en el que vivimos.
I actually found the part about "dikke matronas" very funny and I'm pretty sure Sam will recover from all of it eventually, but for now they need a lot of patience.
Now Laurent's parents are visiting and Sam is getting used to the feeling of family! By the way Roel when the ukrainian video comes out I'm counting on you for the subtitles again. I'll send you transcription
This is one of the most heart-warming stories I've seen recently. Congrats to the daddies and Samuel. It's hard to believe that Belgium could be so backward.
@depfox God bless them, finally Sam is reunited with there dads. And depfox... thanks you for showing the world that two man (or woman or single parent) can... raise a family. :-)
It warms my heart watching this.
I pray to all gay parents out there to be able to raise their family strongly well & live a contented and happy life..

It because EU countries ban commercial surrogacy for gay male couples. I don't understand logic of this ban. All people want to have own childs!

kevinstoronto 11 months ago
@kevinstoronto if CC is turned on, it should work (it's working for everyone else..)
when CC is active, you can hoover over the CC button, and a little menu appears with some options (to choose your font, or to set it larger)
