  • i hate this 20th century stuff music a little bit because one dubstep sucks its not music its a bunch of noise and people or not into the classic acustics anymore idk why but people dont know how to make good music anymore were in a time were people like this tecno shit and beeping noises i hope all of you die and burn

  • I've had this the live version of this song on my iTunes for I dont know how long and I just now listening to it entirely. Words cant describe how good he is

  • I first heard this song late one night on the radio while driving my truck and it just bit me, so i went out the following weekend and bought an EP with 3 songs on it by this guy, little did i know at the time but those 3 songs would come to represent lots of great memories from the early naughties, whenever i hear this i'm straight back there in my mind. great song....

  • great song

  • I'm so glad I was born early enough in the 80's to remember the entire decade of the 90's. What a great era that was

  • This was a song I was totally hooked on. Magical for sure.

  • Amazing talent.

So much better than today's crap

  • another musician that is not reconized! he is awesone!!!!

  • Love this song. I never hear from this man anymore, whats going on...

  • it isn't what she talks about, it is just the way she is.

  • @trueyou2 , nice return...

  • "What she chose to offer you was all that you could have..."

  • I absolutely LOVE this song!

  • The sliding guitar is incredible.

  • I used to have such a crush on him. <3 Still a good song.

  • I wonder where this guy went. I loved this song when it came out!

  • @lavenderblonde100 Look up a broadway show called Spring awakenings. He did the music for it.

  • @jusmi71 Thanks! Will do.

  • I can honestly say that I believe Duncan Sheik produces music of the highest quality.

  • DS is soo awesome. He's way hot and above all else, under rated.

  • ....Duncan is SO hot. And SO talented. John Mayer is such a pale imitation what with his faux sensitivity and all.

  • thnk u mommie to turnin me on to duncan sheik and alot of great artisit

  • Awww, I remember this song. I used to (literally) run away from hard situations, and this song would always be playing in my head. "She runs away, She runs away..." -I'm not a runner anymore, but I still love this song :>

  • ONE HIT WONDER MY @ss.

  • @tompickenfrets incredible music that people are too dumb to realize!

  • man he was a sexy critter!

  • ooo cutie!!

  • He looks so much different now. Great song!

  • Amazing song, and such an underrated musician!

  • Every single song on Duncan's self titled, I guess it would be called an album, is wonderful. I can listen to every song, then start right back at the beginning and listen to all of it again.

  • siigh...late 90's...i miss it

  • I used to listen to this song

  • Such a fan since "Barely Breathing"

  • love this song, never been so thrilled with the video. :-/

  • Okay great song but wow on the side info that says heal be playing at Slims SF on 6/11. I will say that is a cool feature YT put in.

  • i love the whole first album!

  • nope it doesn't work

  • 0:00

  • A musician friend of mine (who is also an incredible archivist and fan of Steven Stills) turned me on to Duncan Sheik and now I can't let the guy go. No flash in the pan gimmickry, outrageous styling and clothes can make music like this. He uses none of that and still rings through to anyone looking hard enough to find the real thing.

  • ahhh roll with it !i had this album years ago loved the whole thing.

  • Cool..so cool...

  • man this music makes my soul smile

  • i wish music today was half as good as this...so glad i was born in the 80s. 2011 is scary!

  • @Anniexx86 ... the 80s was shit

  • @EllysaE Some was, some wasn't, too bad you can't tell the difference.

  • @Anniexx86 as well

  • I recall seeing him live on GMA years ago. His guitar string broke in the middle of a song. He carried on without missing a beat and sounded great. I thought "what a true professional " It made me like him even more!

  • my theme song

  • I miss the 90s. I didn't know then how great a time it was for music. Thanks Duncan. His music since has only been better.

  • Beautiul tune.

  • This has a sad tone to it but I always feel better after hearing it. It's sad but it makes me happy... can't really explain it but that's why it's a GREAT song.

  • u know why u stupid ads becuase digourno is not fucking delivery delivery is better god damit vevo

  • amazing tune... most definitely an underrated songwriter....

  • I heard this song in Quiznos today. lol

  • Definitley the most underrated song writer.

  • omg omg thanks for posting this

  • This is a nice song!:)I couldnt say that before my computer got fixed-_- because it kept stopping,it was so annoying. but the speed is great now, haha no more downloading stuff for me.

  • He is one of the greatest music artists on the face of this planet this is my first time hearing this song cuz i heard barely breathing and so i figured to have a song that good im sure he has others and i was right on the money i honestly dont think real music gets any better than this seriously!

  • I used to be addicted to this album WAY back in the late 90's. Every night I'd come home, clean, light the yummy smelling candles, lay on the couch and listen to the entire Duncan Sheik album beginning to end. Oh, how my roommate HATED my taste in music! His taste still sucks and I still love Duncan, his music just NEVER gets OLD!

  • @MNsizzle11 Can't agree more. I found Duncan was extremely talented and I was glad that I got to be 'introduced' to this song and back album in 1997. Especially this song, my tears burst out when I first played it not because I had had any personal experience about what he sang in the lyrics but the music was so beautiful and romantically haunting. God bless Duncan.

  • Just a soothing classy song.

  • The album version is much better.

  • Where can I get this version of this song? The current albums that have this song doesn't have the bass, the acoustic, or the drums. LOVE this version

  • @RinneGirl It's the opening track on his album from 1996, "Duncan Sheik"

  • Oustanding quality!

  • am i the only one who thinks this doesnt look like duncan sheik?

  • @theeargnome it does.. it's just VERY old.. lol he looked so different for his first album

  • love this song

  • I like this more than the acoustic version. Just me.

  • he has a freaken sexy mouth

  • Scorpio Eyes at their finest.

  • Saw him live at the Norva in my neck of the woods...awesome concert and real nice genuine person.

  • @KiRiMa64 A fellow Hampton Roads resident!Props to the 757!

  • This album was ahead of its time.

  • Holy nostalgia Batman!!

  • luv Sheik

  • he was ahead of his time!!!

  • Eat your heart out John Mayer

  • @mikest468

TOTALLY different aminals, man. :) Both greats.

  • @mikest468

John mayer trumps this guy in every way...in terms of both guitar and singing...dont get me wrong i like them both, but i believe overall john is more talented

  • @MattMcCarthy you know duncan was before john and john sucks.

  • @JCRAM30 It doesnt matter who came before, they are completely different artist with different styles...im not saying you have to like John Mayer, but to say he sucks makes you lose all credibility...he is one of the most talented guitarist of our generation whether you like it or not...

  • @MattMcCarthy John Mayer is commercial I'll give you that but to say most talented guitarist of our generation is a long shot..

  • Let's just say Duncan make a part of me spring forth and awakens the rest!

  • I like this song....I heard it when looking at the weather channel they were playing this in the background

  • His Jonas hair was 12 years ahead of its time

  • I'll bet they play this song 30 years from now. Regularly. Let's hope so. :)

  • Duncan Sheik looks like the fourth jonas

  • Good song, the video gives you seizures though.

  • @Bryansdemomusic What do u mean by that?

  • @TheGuitarWizard96 I mean it makes me angry, like a sandwich in a tree.

  • go to catch youtube and you can download it for free

  • This is a different mix than the album ... Can you buy this anywhere? Love it!

  • @cwhitta go to catch you tube and you can download it for free

  • This is a different mix than the one on the album. Anyone know where I can buy it? Still a great song, and still sounds as fresh as when I bought the CD in .... 1996... I think...?

  • i love this song! the beat is so relaxing!

  • wow.. this song is great. i vaguely recognize it, but what a breath of fresh air.

  • Duncan Sheik is a hugely talented artist, and WAY underrated!

  • Love the song, but the video is an illusion to your eyes.

  • I felt like this about someone. But then you find that you gave the person too much credit and in the end she's afraid of commitment even to herself.

  • Every guy is the same guy, to her.

  • This guy is hot......I must not have paid attention back in the day. lol

  • @KissHope i wish duncan would go back to this look. perfect hair, clean-shaven--definitely the era in his career in which he was the sexiesy

  • @Laety

    Ditto! He is def HOTT.

  • DIdnt know he had a vid for this..but was sitting at my desk just started humming..gawd i was in love with this cd... thanks for posting

  • I LOVE DUNCAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I do love this song, but i really want to hear the other version on Dante's Inferno Commercial!

  • I heard this song playing in Big Lots haha. I liked it so I stored some of the lyrics in my head, came home and found it on youtube. lol

  • Sheik's first record was incredible.

The second one was great too.

After that I lost track of him.

I think the pop world eats it's own for breakfast.

  • thanks random,

there was more than one recording, correct? maybe that could account for more than one bass player. I'm pretty new to the bass and was wondering if that clean sould can be duplicated live?

  • I think Duncan eventually got burned out on these types of videos and the pop world with its vain expectations. The video is cool but seems funny in the light of how deep and powerful this mans music and mind really are. But of course record labels are gay.

  • can any seasoned bass players tell me how to get that sound? ? Looks like the player is using a fender jazz and ampeg amp but that's in a video of course.

  • Yeah, what you are hearing isn't being played in that video, and not even by the same person from what I understand (Jeff Allen here, Pino Palladino in the studio) let alone the gear you see here...and then there's the whole issue of the mix, and a landslide of new variables...

    So let's speculate.

To my ear, it sounds like a jazz bass; tight low mids and not much mud (not really Ampeggy but who knows) and some compression.

  • I just purchased tickets to see / hear Duncan perform some of his NEW material with the San Francisco Symphony in April!! ... I had the pleasure to meet Duncan on two occasions - opening for Shawn Colvin in Berkeley, CA, and performing a free concert on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills - and each time he was most gracious to, and so friendly with, all of his adoring Fans! What a NICE man, and a GREAT talent!! ... Good Karma always follows Good People!!.

  • I feel like the lyrics don't match up with the "She Runs Away" shoutout. Other than that It's perfect. I agree with 90s Music = Real Music. I wonder what this cat is doing these days...

  • Duncan's won two Tony awards and a Grammy for his composing for the musical "Spring Awakening"

  • Yeah. I don't get how '90s music was so amazing but everything afterwards is so mediocre.

  • LOL never heard this before today and heard while on hold to order some arthritis medicine...LOL Just never know where you are going to hear an awesome tune.

  • @KissHope LMAO..hope u feel better dear

  • @ultraviolettea

Thank you.....Hope your having an ace day.

  • @KissHope Amen.

  • Who cares about the techie stuff.. one of the best of the 90's

  • I definitely agree with you anjatheguppy1 do you remember if this is the original video or is this remix of the song?

    mo

  • this is the radio mix..the album version is different..less instruments

  • I think the camera effects did and didn't match the music. At certain points it actually worked. But with this song I would have expected the clip to be more story-line formated. With what the songs about, I would have thought it would have been more theatrical.

But its a good song :)

  • love this song!! kinda reminds me of a SEAL song....I just cant remember for the life of me what that particular song was though!! ugh!

  • kiss by a rose

  • 90's music= real music

  • @hhimmel lol, you know that today's music is garbage when we look to the 90's as a shining beacon of music with artistic value

  • @karpalov Do you mean that as a compliment or an insult?

  • @hhimmel Yea in the 90s it people didnt have that digital sound, voices tampered with.It was all natural.:)

  • I couldn't agree with you more!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SOO MUVH!!!

  • This is my favorite song by DS and one of my all time favorite songs bar none. So pretty, pure and honest.

  • Camers effects? I close my eye's whan I hear this song. Sucks on the hiway

  • I truly love this song. It is poetic and heartfelt. It is one of my all time favorite tunes. Thank you so much for posting it.

  • Video overwhelmed by camera effects that do not match the music at all!
