i thin over all it was a great album yes the noise was a bit too loud but i thought after hearing st anger load reload it was a great return to their orginal roots in metal but is still no where near as good as the classics of kill em all ride the lightning master of puuppets and justice for all ever since cliff died they havent been able to get back to that sound of those albums btw i know cliff died before and justice for all

@xtinn92 Yep, you're right. That's why we have the volume knob though. Death Magnetic is severly distorted and causes listening fatigue very quickly. At similar sound volume any of the other Metallica albums can be listened without that problem. In short, DM sound quality is terrible.

Old school Metallica fan here - grew up jammin' to RTL and MoP. I have to say that Death Magnetic definitely goes back to their roots and is a breath of fresh air after that POS album St.Anger. DM is one of their best albums ever. Longer tracks, lengthy solos by Kirk, harder riffs, death metal lyrics - sure is nice to hear some "new" old school Metallica!

When I hear the words " I don't care for the new Metallica " I just like the old " or similar such phrases, my hand automatically rises to backhand someone across the face. From a musicians point of view, as well as a fan from the beginning. Death Magnetic is by far the best freaking CD in Metallica history. The Lyrics a little dark n gloomy, yet F____G Awesome!! Nothing would ever touch the MONSTER of Master.. the sound was perfect the toons were perfect, But Death Magnetic is the perfect mixture of all that Metallica has done since 1981, just listen closely to all the album, then the rest of the albums. Fuck the sound, let that album be on a 4track, and it would still be the sweetest album of the past almost 20years
