  • I just seen the specials in brighton...now I'm even more inlove with Terry!!!

  • I am actually in love with Terry!!! lol

  • Just seen The Specials 2 nights in a row in Wolverhampton. Phenomenal!

  • This is very old in itself

  • 2-TONE Thanks fer the SKA!!!

  • what they sang about was what was going on, an it was banging stuff still is an always wil be end of know debates know bullshit the bollocks job done, you will never ever see a band like theses stompers again so enjoy.......big up the specials.thanks 4 the reunion c.i.a cardiff 2010 what a night stomped alnight took me back to sofia gardens 1980s only 16 then top times from a top band.

  • Jerry Sadowitz who appeared in Terry Hall's Terry Blair&Anouchka's video of Ultra Modern Nursery Rhymes, complained that this video infringed his copyright,

I removed Jerry and replace his appearance with graphic animation. It's taken 5 months!

Although angry with Jerry, I am also grateful because, I would have never learned Adobe After Effects and animation.

Jerry's replaced by a number of colourful characters! Marc Bolan even makes an appearance! Bet he won't complain??!

  • the specials are better than any american band. Americans copy everything out of England because they are our other 51 counties. They are 76% european afterall. Rule brittania.

  • oh lordy, flame war activate !! any empire that holds sway writes or rewrites their version of history, it's just pride at work.

i came here for the love of the specials not to listen to who invented being an idiot. it was me by the way, i invented the internetz for ya'll to cry on while i was at it. enjoy !!

  • how can anyone say The Specials are more of the spirit of punk and Madness was more poppy??? The two bands in question are 2Tone all same but had differant styles thats for sure. i would say Madness was more of a Ska band then 2tone where as The specials are a true 2Tone band and we all know 2Tone is up beat Ska and Ska is up beat Reggae fact. so please if your going to comment please find the facts first.

  • @originalskinhead1969

Ska is upbeat Reggae? Since Ska was around for at least a decade before Reggae, Reggae is measured to Ska standards, not the other way around.

  • For a front man Terry Hall has all the presence of a potted plant. Anyway, I don't think any sane human can forgive the atrocity that was Fun Boy Three.

  • @msangh2003 if you think they had no talent singularly then you haven't seen the neville staples band then i guess,

  • Im a more of a prog rock dude but I love bands like The Specials, Madness and Joy Division... Cheers to everyone from Juarez Mexico...

  • 1:11 what a response! and was that a smile?

  • Comment removed

  • brilliant. thanks for sharing :)

  • Terry is such a happy young fellow :)

jokin apart he made some awsome songs, and thanks for the good gig at birmingham ;)

  • They showed that clip again on Jools recently, heh.

  • Ah Terry, you're such a ray of sunshine...

  • ...an awesome British SKA band who sadly, have disbanded...with The Selecter, The Piranhas, The English Beat, Madness & Bad Manners, among many others, ruled with their rock steady beat & SKA...2-Tone was awesome record label....

    :-)

  • They're back!!!!!!!!!!

  • terry says walking out is easy yes it is but come back is hard. all specials singularly had no talent. but as a group were fucking awesome. Terry hall you were never a paul weller make up with jerry dammers

  • @msangh2003 This is the most ridiculous thing I have read...He never pretended to be...

  • @msangh2003 were on earth did you come up with that then? paul weller isn't as good as Terry we all know this. you talk shite mate. the two bands were very differant but my question is this were is paul weller now? the mod is long gone, The specials are still going and one of the best skinhead and rudeboy bands ever. alot better than that mod band the jam.

  • both bands were part of two tone which was massive in the post punk new wave era every school kid was a two tone rude boy in sta-prest trousers and Shelleys loafers, a lot of people went mod and skinhead and scooter boy or casual then all mad for acid house

  • And what have the kids got these days???? zilch.

  • Quitter!!

  • there not even comparable. i love madness and i love the specials

  • The Specials had more of the spirit of punk. Madness was more poppy.

  • @cathridge Oh dear oh dear. The Specials were never punk....

  • @illhaveadouble : I never said they were punk.

  • @cathridge You said they had the spirit of punk. They didnt have that either. Completely different time, different genre and different audience.

  • @illhaveadouble: Well having the spirit of punk and BEING punk aren't the same are they? And it WASN"T a different time. They formed and performed around the late 70s when real punk was thriving. And there were always PLENTY of punks in those audiences along with the mods and rudeboys. And ska has always been a big influence on punk, at least early UK punk anyway, so the genres arent' that different either.

  • @cathridge Perhaps in the usa punk was thriving in the late 70's, but in the uk it started in 1975 and was pretty much over by then. It didnt arrive in the usa until the Ramones (who were in London in 1974/5/6), took it back to the usa with them when they returned. In 1975 I was 15 and hanging out at the 100 Club, the Vortex watchng bands such as The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The Damned. Later at the Hope and Anchor Islington...cont

  • @illhaveadouble: Oh, Please don't play yourself. UK punk was influenced by US punk. New York Dolls and Jonathan Richman were the archetypes as well as the Ramones. If your darling Malcolm McLaren hadn't to visit us in the mid 70s, you'd still be playing Sandy Dennis and The Bay CIty Rollers

  • @cathridge Hardly likely as we had our own thriving glam rock scene in the uk. If you believe the hype Malcolm put around about him being the grandfather inventor of punk then you are very gullable indeed.

  • @cathridge complete crap

  • @cathridge haha, yup. some of the brits (like lydon) just refuse to accept it though.

  • @weightlifterf2 Do you mean some of the brits (like Lydon), who were actually there and lived through it, unlike some yanks who were born 10 years too late, weren't there and have read about it on wikipedia?

  • @illhaveadouble Sorry limey, but there are too many brits (like, but certainly not limited to, the late great Joe Strummer) who fully acknowledge that it started in the US and then went on to inspire the UK bands. But if you and John Lydon (good guy by the way - has said nice things about my man Ron Paul) want to talk up revisionist history through your bad teeth, please be my guest.

  • @weightlifterf2 Yep, another yank, born 10 years too late who thinks America invented the world. Learn from who was there, who knows, you might even improve yourself.

  • @weightlifterf2 Mind you that's doubtful. America has a world wide reputation for re-writing history to suit itself. Perhaps it's because the only history it has is that which it has made up.

  • @cathridge .....cont I regularly watched a little known band called The North London Invaders, who went on to become Madness. So please dont tell me who was in the audiences, because I was there.

  • @illhaveadouble: Good for you!! *gives cookie*

  • @illhaveadouble Um, no. They were around at the same time punk was around, and everyone influenced eachother.... big meltingpot

  • @agirotil Do you know, some people chat such shit, usually those who werent there, and dont know jack except what they read on wiki, I cant even be bothered to answer...

  • @cathridge You have a point. It's the mix of Rock and Ska which they did so well that set The Specials above the competition.

  • terry's reaction reminds me of johnny rotten's everytime he's supposed to be interveiwed about a {then} current project and the interviewer would bring up the sex pistols and johnny would get this funny look on his face.

only terry is a lot nicer.

  • naked woman :)

  • take him away ;-)

  • taaake him awaay!

  • Is Terry Hall wearing monkey boots in this video?

  • "The Specials - Brixton Academy - June 2008 watch this space" thats what Terry Hall posted on his offical myspace. I've got a feeling that there is going to be a specials reunion (original lineup) i can't wait!!!

  • Sounds like it, I can't f**king wait!

  • is it true ? specials with terry? fill me in with more info if you can harry ...that will be hardcore SKANKIN SKA NIGHT ....OII! peace and love

  • @harrysfunzone back in the day when the reunion was only a rumor...

  • jools holland?

  • Easy, john!

  • wow he still looks young.

  • Terry Hall hated coventry, became depressed and moved to hayfield near Manchester where he prefered the countryside to city living.

  • iem from baja mexico and i heard wen i was 10 years old from my olders brothers so in baja we love THE SPECIALS

  • Looks down...Shut up u mug.

  • sorry terrys a great vocalist but what a shitey attitude about the specials-him and nev broke jerrys heart -they walked out and fukked the band over-NOT COO- and what songs are they both attempting carrear ressurections from??????? like i saud NOT COOL

  • people listen top groups jam specials and oasis

    rest suck

  • Oasis,,,,, top group,,,, lol,,,, top attitude yes, top beetles wanna be's yes,,,,,,, original,,,,, nooooooo

  • Judge Roughneck. Wicked

  • He mentions Boston (MA-USA) specifically because they were made to wait (as us) OVER TWO HOURS to come on in the then Bradford Hotel as the Boston Fire Department questioned their simple clothe backdrop as being hazardous..even though it had passed muster through the majority of cities USA (T'was toward the end of their triumphant 2nd tour). Prettiest, classiest, best dancing girls in the city were there anyways.

  • They played the Paradise in Boston - was the Bradford Hotel in addition to the Paradise gig?

  • What a great time this was. A stupendous phenomenon.

  • I think that is the first time in nearly thirty years of following the Specials/ Terry that I have seen him smile.

  • 1 of my favorites 4 sure. An amazing artist, A Middle Country guy tha6 surely makes you think. What a great nose this bird has..yet I'd like 2 spend 2 hourw w/ this wiz. He did a tremendous job assembling 1 of the greatest groups evwr.

  • bloody hell! look at jools! he's a hippy!

  • i wanna do terry hall.

  • aye , don't we all . (acept the men i mean ) but if you go that way..........lol join the club.

  • One of my favourite Specials songs.
