@MrBluejack45 @MrBluejack45 You may have to look for official updates for the old game. It is for sure a "heavy" program for smaller video cards. If you only have a problem with Titanic I suggest reinstall, the game give no problems with the Titanic. Make sure you have not downloaded home made mission content, that can be tricky.

@titanicfanatic4 That is why I made the tube, when I bought my SS2008 it would almost not run, because I had lack of hardware; now I have ShipSim Extremes, and again I need a bigger computer to play it. Same happened when I bought SS2006, the demo ran just ok, the game didn't, I usually walk 4/ to 6 years behind with my hardware. Some people with older computers may be better off with ShipSimulator 2006. If the 2008 demo runs like a slideshow, the full software will be worse.

@titanicfanatic4 Sorry to hear... So pretty good is not that good. Time for a hardware update :) (or a game downgrade) I can tell you SS2008 is pretty extreme compared with SS2006. Personally I don't care to much, I have a lot of simulators, but most is shipping or marine related. I have Virtual Sailor and Vehicle Simulator, they are the few games that let you sail your own ships (made in 3D) I run these cheap simulators more than anything else. And SSE has one big flaw, sails can not be lowered

the lifeboat in the demo is pretty strong, and may need a load and lot of dammage to sink it, it is in real life build NOT to sink :)

real free roaming is for the ss full version, but if you do not start the mission you can roam a little.

when you finish the mission I click on Exit Game or Continue ???

If you finished the mission without problems you exit the mission/game. You can continue, but if you make any damage or sink, you have to redo the mission. Completed it gets a green checkmark, in some occasions if you continue you do not get it.

completed missions give you ranks.

No, there is not. Can also not say if there will be in the future. They seem to develope a new shipsim, and once they start creating a newer game, the old games are not extended with new ships.

This is about sailing with ships, not sinking them, however you can actually sink ships after a collision in this game.

Maybe in the far future they will add a submarine :)

The only weakness I see in SS is the possibillity to go online and transmit scores. There can be an exploit that can be abused. Just a warning.

I think this game's graphics are horrible, i have the best and the latest graphics card and this game is slow the graphics looks way too fake! The previous version of this game was awesome, maby they changes the company!

Urm, no it was not on low grafix mode, I manually changed the settings in game untill I had the best result. (to make last answer short)

You can try it both ways. You can change settings in the ATI screen.

But more important, the automatic video settings on the game are tricky, the best results came from manual settings in the game.

Just play with it. If you get just a mesh, your settings are not good. you change the settings untill you see the mesh is rendered.

If you limmit the visual effect of the ship, like shades and bow and wave foam.

The higher you make the waves the slower the card becomes.

If you are a little like me, you will like it anyway, I just put it on a shelf untill I have a stronger PC :)

In the meantime I play up to the big ocean tug Fairmount Sherpa, it is the limmit for my card on seas and ocean.

In the harbours...wel I got used to a slide show :)

If you do not meet minimum requirments the game won'' t even start. If the demo runs, you have a reasonable image of what you can expect from the game. Sailing the titanic is worse than P6 or any other small ship, but overall my ATI is not big enough for this game.

I don't know why, but I think ATI radeon on notebooks are less than minimum requirments.

I think 128 video ram is not enough for this very graphical game.

Any other good card may work, but the game needs 1G and 128MB, but than it is stil like a fast slideshow, specially with the bigger ships and in ports.

ATI mobile1100 128MB, it is mount in the motherboard, and can not be changed or altered.

I bought extra RAM, this did some good to the quality.
