the solution at 2:15 is wrong. (x-4)(x+1) multiplies to give a -3x as the middle term not the +3x you started with! when you work out the answer using the quadratic equation you get x = -4 and x = 1, this is correct! when putting them back into brackets you have to swap sides. so x = -4 becomes x + 4 = 0 and x = 1 becomes x - 1 = 0. hence the (x+4)(x-1) which is the correct answer.
The solution at 2:15-> (x-4)(x+1) is wrong. if you multiply the brackets out you will find that you do not get x(2)+3x-4 -> the correct solution should be (x+4)(x-1)
The solution to the very last problem (3:23) -> where x = -4, 1 is totally correct.
so the correct solution is x= -4, 1
which if you put it into brackets is (x+4)(x-1)
notice that the signs change when put back into brackets.
this really helped me, maybe because i had already had some barrings on how to solve quadratic trinomials. I saw a few comments on how it was confusing, and that was probably due to her warning of common errors. It may have been a better choice to save them till later possibly? (just giving some feedback)
@mixolidianmode it would be easier to use the formula if you can't see how to quickly factorise the equation, mainly because the equation doesn't have integer or real solutions. Like x^2 + x + 1 = 0 - factorising that without the formula would be a total sod.
what does 4ac mean!!!!!

oh.. i get it... the quadratic formula is just a more difficult way of solving these type of equations if that so, why the hell people use it??

lol, it is suppose to be easier because you just plug in the numbers.

@mixolidianmode if the equation cant be solved using factoring.

I've completely forgotten this until now. The number of times I've used the quadratic formula since high school has been exactly zero.
