Nice review. Interesting that you brought up Bond not wearing a hat in the Moore like he did with Connery and Lazenby. However, I noticed that Moore always had a hat in his hand when entering the office in a few of his film, he just never wore it.
@DarPower1 Yeah I stopped reading it. I lost it, but it honestly wasn't very good. I mean I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't the best book I've ever read. However, I am reading Goldfinger and I actually find it easy to follow and very interesting.
It's also prudent to note the very derogatory racial undertones that pervade this film. They give Dr. No a run for its money. Not to say that's just a horrible thing, but it helps understand the zeitgeist that helped shaped this series through the Vietnam war.
I'm not sure when you originally recorded this, but Roger Moore actually isn't the only Englishman to play Bond in the official series. Daniel Craig is also English.
Oh, yes, Solitaire is one really beautifull Bond Girl. She really seems to be pure and Inocent.
Well, the movie is very very great. Its my most favourite Moore Bond. Also Kananga is the most evil Moore Bond Villain. I mean, he is such an ass, he even punches Womans. And he seems to be very sadistic after all.
I really enjoyed this movie. Despite the fact Jane Seymore couldn't act (it was her first movie role) I think she is arguably the most attractive. I think the film director and producers could have made better use of the scenes they shot. Your right, the boat chase did drag on for a bit too long, they could of worked a bit more into the plot instead. There's no disputing they could of left J.W. Peppers out, he was just loud and obnoxious, it seemed almost like he had a mental disability.
why does so many people think the man with the golden gun is the worst bond film?! i like them all except quantum of solace which is a good reason to hate it.

Would of been interesting to see how 'The Living Daylights' would of turned out if Roger had done it. Or for that matter if Pierce had done it as intended!
Not at all - I thaught Dalton was superb as007 - TLD would not of been so good under a different actor - just different and that's what a I was referring to.
Man your pretty brutal on these movies . I think you are right but you have to consider that these were made in the 70's . you are comparing them as if they were made in recent times . these movies were as cutting edge and spectacular as you could get . your opinions are very valid. my opinion is LIVE AND LET DIE rocks , it's blaxploitation but it ROCKS
Her character is supposed to be young and innocent and it's supposed to be part of her character, to me she is one of those lone exceptions in my choice of Bond girls since the tough ones are usually better then the wimpy ones and Jane is pretty wimpy. But cute.
Roger Moore was and is my favourite actor in the role of 007. Live and Let Die made quite an impression on me with it's voodoo aspects etc and I loved Roger's light hearted interpretation of Bond. The only film I was'nt too keen on was The Man With The Golden Gun - it seemed rather tired and bland. The Spy Who Loved Me is how a Bond film should be - total entertainment! Such a pity Quantum Of Solace is such a dire mess - that is the example of how NOT to make a Bond film.
Live and Let Die is definitely one of the best Bond movies. Roger Moore is still my favorite Agent 007. Jane Seymour was great and very beautiful as Solitaire. Yaphet Kotto (Parker from Alien), Julius Harris and Gloria Hendry were great as well.
The main theme performed by Paul McCartney and Wings was good too.
I have to disagree about people thinking his movies were the worst. Most people think he had some of the best 007 movies ever! The spy who loved me, Live and let die, Octopussy, Moonranker, For Your eyes only! These were some of the most well known ones! As for silly i think that was what made his bond awesome!
btz, I concur, Moore was as good as Connery and he took a different approach to the role, removing some of the sadism from the character- I found Connery seemed to enjoy killing- and adding some humour. Also, the films were made more contemporary by using rock soundtracks, Moonraker made a nod to the Star Wars boom and Golden Gun featured kung fu when Bruce Lee mania was at its height. Barring the overlong Octopussy, all of Moore's films are good.
I think films make a bigger impression when you're a kid. Not sure LALD is the worst at all, in fact it's imagery and spookiness remains etched on my memory cells mainly because i was about 12 when i first saw it. There's something unique about the story and setting which stands out from more of the better scripted and acted ones. It feels a bit Un PC yet is still fascinating and menacing, even with Moore's jokey play acting. Seymour is pretty but a weak character - still had a crush on her.
Not the best bond movie, but my personal favorite. It definitely doesn't suck. It is the most unique, the soundtrack was phenomenal, and the movie is as cool as moore's calm persona. My favorite bond movie by far. The bad guys are awesome. Baron Samedi was only in it briefly, but enought to make you want to see more of him.
I liked Yaphet Khotto in this film and I thought his performance was quite good.
Jane Seymour was lovely and good in the role.
The chick who played Rosie Carver is awful and not even pretty at all.
The JW Pepper character, played by Clifton James, is actually quite amusing and was obviously patterned after Jackie Gleason's Buford T. Justice in Smokey And The Bandit.
But it was a mistake to bring him back in The Man With The Golden Gun.
Truly, truly awful Bond film. I haven't seen Octopussy or A View to a Kill for 20 years so I can't really comment on them (I know they're meant to be terrible) but I saw Live and Let Die again last year and I don't ever remember being so stunned at how bad a Bond film was.
"I don't ever remember being so stunned at how bad a Bond film was." - it's not the worst one by a long shot. What about Dalton's, or The World is not Enough?
I thought that Moore did an acceptably good job here but I thought this plot sucked. And so many of the scenes are utterly stupid. Stupid Car chase. Stupid death of bad guy (blowing up) Stupid Alligator jump.
damn thats jane seymour when she was young. she was hot then n she still hot now.

@NecroVMX lol Kananga was a dictator, not a diplomat :P
Also, seeing as how you've read the Bond novels, would you recommend them to me? I'm an avid reader with a particular interest in espionage thrillers.

The First Bond review I don't agree with you on.
I would give this movie at least a 8.5 if not a 9
And the Boat Chase was excellent

@HeroOfTime121 The book is a bit weird, its out dated and uses terms like Negro so i wouldnt suggest reading it before watching the film.

This one gets better almost every time. It aged badly but it's really fun and I think more people as they see it rate it higher on the list.
Jane Seymour is cute as hell in this movie.
Bond should have had the Dirty Harry gun more often too. He only has it once towards the end of this one movie.

This film features perhaps the funniest scenes in the whole series, that being the airport chase scene.
