i literally stopped the video lots of times to not to miss what he says when i am laughing out loud. i love and share your thoughts about religion and politics. greetings from Turkey
I like how he has come upon the universal fractal theory all on his own, without having to spend millions of dollars studying at universities and shit, the way most people waste their time and money.
the truth is unavoidable no matter what kind of life you lead.
he's damn sprightly for a 50 something yr old as well.
@TheGzeus that's where you're dreadfully wrong. You can't deny it, and neither does any intelligently educated human . Your body has trillions of little microscopic bugs that you can't see, moving all over you, setting up tiny little bug colonies everywhere... just like us on the planet earth. that's an obvious fractal. the example billy gives is even more obvious, the atom and solar system are structured the same way.. so all the galaxies and stars are the small 'bugs' on, hmm i wonder what?
On the micro scale things are too regular. Not nearly so random as a solar system/galaxy in an atom.
A quark doesn't have substance outside of an atom. It ceases to exist.
Nothing like that exists on the macro scale. If you take, say, a rock, or even an atom, something that makes up a sun or a planetary body, and you move it outside the solar system, it continues to exist.
hmm i think we're getting into quantum physicist stuff here... like how they say an electron isn't anywhere until we decide where to look and what to look for and then it shows up where we look, and how we expect it to appear.
so how do you know the rock or atom that you move outside the solar system continues to exist? maybe it just happens because you expect it to?
reality is thermosetting, not thermostatic... or whatever the saying is.
Also, that's not how the observation effect works. You can't observe anything without the process interfering with that which you're observing it. It's a really simple idea. Anything that could track an electron would move it. Done
Then you're trying to pull some Zen shit, which is silly because the point of Zen questions and ideas is that they're such bullshit that they make you see the other bullshit out there in the world.
Atoms are not structured anything like our solar system. Our solar system is a series of celestial bodies revolving around a central point. An atom is a probabilitycloud of electrons around the nucleus. An atom is like the solar system just like an orange is like a football.
He says what some only think 'when nobody watches'. I love his honesty and the way he brings stuff down to earth (where else should it be anyway) and how he visualizes his way of seeing things. Embaressment is encouraged as something you should learn for society-sake or something. He just spills it like a child would do, in an honest, non restricted way. I envy that, would love to see honesty an openness in most people, therefor: I love "Big Yin's way".
In would sell my mother to the Arabs for a pint with Billy Connelly.

I thought the same thing for years about atoms being like the solar system. Makes perfect sense to me too.

I'll wager John Major had a wee wry smile at the time; seen as how he was pumping Edwina.

I know the 'theory'.
What I said was that no one in academia takes it seriously.
It's cute, and has a certain elegance, but breaks down on the macro and micro scales.

@TheGzeus what do you mean it breaks down on the macro and micro scales?
