  • It's this kind of stuff that good to use against people who believe in the "good old days" fallacy. Oh yeah, looking at this commercial, people sure were nicer and more polite and classy 50 years ago. Imagine seeing a major political candidate running this commercial today.

  • Herman Cain disliked this video 31 times

  • Goddamn, Johnson was a dirty bastard.

  • 30 users are segregationists.

  • is kkk still around or even as strong

  • The KKK hated all the 'ism's in the world?

I knew they were ignorant... but to collectively not know the word racism? That's pretty bad.

  • Osama Bin Ladin endorsed John Kerry in the 2004 elections. A President from Texas also won that election. Texans terrify terrorists. We like being terrorized Gives us an excuse to shoot people. The late Mr Bin Ladin no doubt only endorsed Senator McCain in the 2009 election after finding out that President Obama had a grandfather from Texas.

  • I don't like this. And what I mean is that I don't care if you disagree with your opponent. It's wrong to attack like that with putting him up like this.

  • What is "niggerism," lol

  • @floweringartist that's when someone with an extra large dont fucks your girl

  • @marzykjones did I say don't , typo... i mean dong... lol.... go and put on a piss stained sheet and sweat that one out.

  • fuck dem white ppl u stupid bitch dat is all

    p.s suck dis 8in dick;p

  • @80slimshady

That's it! You've learned to use a computer! Good job, boy! Now, we'll have to teach you how to write the English language.

    Have a NiggerSnack.

  • I'm not a Klansman and am against the Klan, but as an Alabamian millenial, I love good black people and Catholic, but I hate niggerism and Catholicism with an unrelenting passion.

  • @Sistarovat

Dude, I don't even know how to begin to interpret that statement.

  • The KKK is crap. It's sad that they get compared to the Nazis so much... While they were both inherently evil in their ideas during their peaks, Nazis were organized, technologically advanced, had no crippling religious loyalty, but some basis for believing themselves to be superior.

KKK members were mainly inbred illiterate hicks who were/are stupid enough to believe that Jesus was white and that they were better than others despite doing absolutely nothing constructive, just hate on others.

  • @Tezcatlepocatl It's sometimes hard to the KKK were admirers of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party considering that Hitler was born and baptized a Roman Catholic. Not only that the National Socialist Party was founded in Bavaria which is predominately Catholic and most of the Nazi leaders were Catholics. Hitler had always boasted about German Aryan being the master race and yet he formed military allianaces and friendship pacts with non-Aryan countries like Italy, Japan and Spain.

  • @67nairb

Some Nazi leaders may have been raised as Catholics, but they were not following religious doctrine like the KKK did/does. Nazis supported Christianity in public, but banned religion in education. They used religious symbolism and treated Christianity as part of German heritage and culture, but their ideas were in the end just not compatible with Christianity.

As for the KKK admiring Nazism, that's probably related to how more Protestants voted for Nazis than Catholics.

  • @Tezcatlepocatl More Protestants voted and supported the Nazis than Catholics? I find that hard to believe since the Nazi movement started in Bavaria.

  • @67nairb

Feel more than free to look up the stats for yourself. My guess is that more than a few Catholics drew their support away after the Pope denounced some parts of Nazism as anti-Catholic, while some Protestants were glad to support a government that followed in Martin Luther's anti-semitic ideas.

This video is about the LBJ vs Goldwater election and the KKK, so this amount of talk about Nazi Germany is probably (much) more than enough.

  • @Tezcatlepocatl Perhaps. Heinrich Himmler, leader of the S.S., the Nazi secret police renounced his Catholicism in the 1930s. He became more of a paganist than a Christian. Now my discussion about Nazi Germany is over.

  • @Tezcatlepocatl

oh? and who are you to say jesus wasn't white. do you have any proof that he wasn't white? just cause he's jewish or from the mediterranean doesn't mean he's not white.

  • @ninja909

You go ahead and believe what you want. I don't really feel like wasting my time talking about the 2000-year-old Jewish carpenter/preacher who was then given godlike status by the Romans in the 5th century, who made up 99% of what Christianity is.

  • @Tezcatlepocatl you dont feel like wasting your time on it? then why bother saying he wasnt white to begin with? i find it funny how people like you tend to contradict yourselves.

  • @ninja909

Look who's talking. The Christian religion claims to be all about peace, yet it's more than likely the religion in whose name the most blood has been spilled. (Just look at the crusades you glorify in your channel)

Stop being such an in-denial quack. There were no white or whitish people in the middle east 2000 years ago who weren't slaves to the Romans or mercenaries. And I doubt the Jews who supposedly followed Jesus would have followed a foreigner.

  • @Tezcatlepocatl the religion who spilled most blood is most likely islam. idiot.

islam started the violence and harassment of christians that resulted int the crusades. islam murderd over 200'000 people in the last 1400 years. muslims are sick murderers. and here you are blaming the christians? oh so now your trying to say the romans weren't white either? go figure.

  • @ninja909

The Muslims were expanding, but the Christians didn't just stop their expansion. They started the crusades and went and killed Muslims in their homeland.

I didn't say the Romans weren't white (Although not all of them were). I'm saying the Jews in the Holy Land would definitely not have followed a foreigner and a member of their occupying force, like it is said that they followed Jesus. Therefore, it's obvious that Jesus could not have been white.

    You're a blind fanatic.

  • @Tezcatlepocatl i don't see how the muslims expanding has to do with this topic. the christians went to the holy land in peace. the muslims started killing and attacking christians who visited the holy land. the christians who werent killed or harassed were treated unfairly and inferior to muslims. thus, the crusades started. I'm pretty sure all romans were white. if they werent white then they weren't of roman blood. oh and to be a foreigner has nothing to do with being of different color.

  • @ninja909

You obviously don't really know what you're talking about. I'll clear up: I believe Islam is total crap, but don't consider Christianity much better.

Romans were not all white because they had had immigration from Anatolia and Carthage. Look at the people in Pompeii wall paintings. Not white. Look at the facial features of many statues of Romans. Not white. Not to mention that we're not entirely sure just WHO founded Rome in the first place.

    &Like I said, I don't really care anyway.

  • @Tezcatlepocatl

christianity doesnt murder gays and stone women and blow up buildings with plains.

yeah, immigration. that's like saying if blacks move to germany, does that make them german? maybe by citizinship but not by bloodline. how can you tell romans are not white by facial features? or are you one of those idiots who believe that curly hair is onely an african feature. typical. most roman statues make romans look verry white. small noses. small lips. usually straight hair. ect.

  • @Tezcatlepocatl Look up the activities of the Klan in the 1920s. They were frighteningly like the Nazis in their organization and influence. Plenty of people in both the North and South joined up, not just the inbred illiterate hicks. Hell, even the original Klan was founded by Confederate officers, who, while they fought for a repugnant cause, were far from inbred or illiterate.

  • @Freakears

    Hence why I said "mostly".

All movements and tend to veer away from their founder's ideas (The founding fathers would projectile vomit upon seeing the modern U.S.), so even if the founding Klan officers were learned and had a purpose, those who later joined were idiots trying to vent off their racism organizedly.

Nazism didn't last long enough to suffer this fate. They always had an ideal and a purpose.

Neo-Nazis, however, are just like the KKK: Racist idiots trying to look smart.

  • Goldwater was not a racist and strongly supported the Civil Rights laws of 1957 and 1960. LBJ, on the other hand, had a diplorable record on civil rights, repeatedly voting down laws that would have outlawed lynchings and abolished the voting tax while he was in congress. It was not until the watered down Civil Rights Act of 1957 was passed that he began to support civil rights laws.

  • Goldwater didn't support the Klan and wasn't a racist, BUT he was against the civil rights act that desegregated the south and gave equal rights to all Americans. The KKK would have been very happy to let the status quo continue. Too bad today's Dems aren't ballsy enough to make these ads....

  • @PRsoxFAN The question is: WHY was Goldwater against the Civil Rights Act? I believe it was because he considered the Act beyond the power of Congress - i.e. an infringement on state's rights. Unfortunately, many invoke 'state's rights' to facilitate nefarious motives/agenda. However, advocating for a limited FEDERAL government is not inherently nefarious - see the writings of Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe. Cf. Hamilton, John Adams.

  • The KKK supports Goldwater? WTF LBJ is really one dirty man. Goldwater was a card carrying member of the NAACP his family has Jewish roots and he actually supported almost all civil rights laws prior to the 1964 law. It was LBJ who had far closer roots to the Klan. Fuck you LBJ Warmonger and liar!

  • @12Aggiefan Should you be more angry at LBJ, or the idiots who fell for the obvious fallacy?

  • This is the election where the political map changed: Goldwater only won deep South states. Previously, if the Democrats lost in a landslide, the only states they won were in the deep South

  • @Hello59239 The Deep South was democrat until Reagan. At state level, until the last 10-15 years. And the black vote was heavily democrat since FDR

  • This ad was extremely inappropriate. Goldwater was not a racist, much less a supporter of the Klan. It seems like liberals have playing the race card against conservatives for decades. Furthermore, it's amusing that a Klan leader would endorse Goldwater, considering that Goldwater was of Jewish ancestry, and made no attempt to conceal his heritage. He even once joked about why these yahoos would support someone who was a descendant of Jews.

  • Comment removed

  • Goldwater also died a proud Episcopalian and NEVER claimed his jewish heritage. now what's odd: Auschwitz AND supporting the same conditions of Auschwitz that existed in Jim Crow. I guess that's how greedy Goldwater was: no conscience

  • @pmheideman Goldwater's birthname was Goldwassa which was changed to Goldwater because as a jew in politics he'd never succeed in the south WITH the Ku Klux Klan dominating southern states on local, state and federal levels. Goldwater didn't want to get involved in Civil Rights and voted against Civil Rights and pandered to hate groups for election.

he is the reason why Dixiecrats jumped quickly from Dem to GOP after passage of Civil and Voting and Civil Rights Acts were passed.

  • OK.

    BARRY GOLDWATER WAS JEWISH.......

    SENSE? NO FUCKING.

  • @brwnandfriendly Goldwater was Episcopalian

  • Hang em niggers!

  • Ah it's true... Ku Klux Klan WERE liberal democrats! Makes sense, KKK were always living off the pre-welfare commie system and was created by leftist liberal Klansmen.

  • @yellowjuju

    LOL

Nice try buddy. The KKK were made up of conservative Southern Democrats who had been aligned with the Democratic Party since the civil war, but broke the the party after LBJ passed civil rights legislation.

Did you forget how the electoral map looked like in the 64 election? The states in the deep South voted for Goldwater. All throughout his career Goldwater had an exemplary record on civil rights, until he decided to court the segregationists in 64.

  • We haven't done badly in the South since this election. Well, I guess the exception is 1976, but Carter didn't win back the South long-term for the Democrats.

  • goldwater 's voting base was the south and west- he supported states rights and they supported him. of course it was all just a front for blatent racists to hide behide something besides a sheet and hood. the crossover voting from dems to republicans was going on here- it was the democratic south- but it was very conservative. later nixon called it his southern strategy- reagan called it -reagan democrats. remember george wallace -he was a hero to the south for blocking black kids.

  • fuck kkk wiggas fuck you zoe pound bloodz all gangs will fuck you up redneck fucks you racist am mixed motha fuckin kkks stick a dick up yo ass fucks look at you with yo gay ass mask you think you badass well your gayass fools fuck you wiggas you goin to hell anyways fuck you yo family can suck a dick haha you lil fucks burn in hell

  • @ANGELOandZACH1542

So you dropped out of high school eh? Retard. Look forward to your life in prison.

  • @Svperstarr dont call me ratarded your the one tha says eh and i was not talkin to you stupid so mind yo own shit faggot

  • @Svperstarr You can look forward to life in hell.

  • @Svperstarr faggot

  • @Svperstarr faggot honkey

  • @102LBC Actually MLK was a registered republican according to his niece and only voted for JFK.

His father was also a lifelong republican who supported Nixon.

LBJ neutered the 1957 CRA and when Eisenhower wanted a "stronger bill"

In a phone conversation with Senator Russell, LBJ said, "That'll keep the niggars voting Democrat for the next 200 years". He also said the other quote.

Goldwater was a jew and the KKK hate jews.

  • Typical Democrat propaganda - ignores the truth.

Democrats supported slavery and segregation throughout the south.

  • Too bad all the 1960's KKK members were Democrats

  • Typical Racist GOP.

  • @toyotabedzrock The GOP used to promote civil rights, that's why they had a large black American membership. Hubba, hubba, hubba.

  • Ooooooh even better how about mixing a chemical in their food that makes their anus glow in the dark. They all like dark meat anyways. Close your eyes and imagine naked klansmen prancing around in the dark with glowing assholes while the brothas sit back and laugh. YOUR ASS IS MINE!

  • Yeah but their robes make good toilet paper. They should let them have their robes in prison.

  • What the fuck is "niggerism''? rofl.

  • What people forget is that historically most presidential races have been very tight. Johnston was just a better propagandist then Goldwater.

  • i want to goin the kkk

  • Comment removed

  • @badbearness They do the same kind of things to demonize Ron Paul.

  • @WICD1969 Its funny because more blacks supported Ron Paul then any other Republican candidate running in 2008.

  • @UncleSamAmerican I don't think the establishments tatitcs always work, but they definitely tried.

  • @WICD1969 In the end they will be the ones looking foolish XD

  • @badbearness

No. Johnson was better for the country so Goldwater was a sacrificial lamb. That's just as it should be.

  • @Zeldovich: Really? Botching Vietmam? Long Hot Summers? Inflation? LBJ may be the worst president we have ever had in recent history in retrospect, although Carter gives him a run for the contest.

  • @badbearness you are absolutely and 100% correct in saying that.

  • @badbearness

He was a good man, but in the 1964 election he did court the Southern segregationist vote. It was conflictive with his laudable record on civil rights.

He only opposed the civil rights act on the basis of states' rights, but yes did have an excellent record on civil rights prior to the 64 election. Though, he did let it go to waste.

  • @badbearness Goldwater was the candidate of massive resistance. States that had the most violent resistance to civil rights voted Goldwater. He voted against the Civil Rights Act, and appealed to segregationists for their vote. There was a reason the klan liked Goldwater, and it was because he represented their ideas. Even if the man wasn't personally racist, he was willing to fight against the civil rights movement to win votes. Not my idea of a good man.

  • @badbearness I'll say he didn't. Goldwater was a Messianc Jew.

  • ironic since the KKK was established with the help of the Democratic party

  • Dirty ad.

  • I don't know which is more disgusting: this or the Daisy ad.

  • @whoo689 There's also the retarded disgusting Vietnam War that was started by Johnson. 58,000 men died for such a waste. I'll never forgive him for that.

  • @whoo689 The war officially became a problem under Johnson, but action was first taken under Truman in 1951. Eisenhower then sent troops in 54', then Kennedy sent tens of thousands of troops between 1960 and 1964...

  • Comment removed

  • @xaviqaz Is quoting someone's words really playing the race card?

  • The KKK hated Johnson, not just because of the racism issue, their was much more too it in southern politics.

  • fuck this racist bullshit. whats wrong with blacks and jews? nothing. I dont get why people are racist its just not right

  • Long Live KKK

    Yes Racism

  • @SadistModa

    Fuck you

  • Really he was dog shit?

  • JOHNSON WAS A PIECE OF DOG SHIT

  • Fuck kkk's

  • Was Johnson a kkk supporter?

  • @TrebinJenkis I highly doubt it. He is the President who passed all the Civil Right Laws that JFK couldn't get passed. Johnson IS the Civil Rights president.

They might have made this to get support from the deep southern states to vote democrat. =P

  • white power!!!

  • dems are so dumb...

  • This is one of those ads by the Democratic Party of the 1960s. It was sort of a pot calling the kettle black.

  • @HVACSoldier johnson lead the charge for civil rights and signed both the civil rights act of 64 and voting rights act of 65. how is that calling the kettle black?

  • @jbond5150 Back in the 1960's most of the members of the KKK were Democrats. Notice I stated the 1960's and not today.

  • @HVACSoldier back then they considered themselves dixiecrats, having voted for strom thurmond in 1948 and goldwater in 1964.

  • Woe to you Ku Klux Klan!

  • haha yo me uno

  • Fuck the KKK and everything they stand for. Bunch of incest cunts that have sex with their cousins. The KKK is gay gay gay

  • @MrChargerfan1990

Gays helped the Civil rights movement tremendously.

Search Google for "Gay youths, Black & white, led North Carolina fight", it should be the first result.

  • @MrChargerfan1990 That's not true at all

  • @aweiss because he was a northerner who voted against desegregation.

  • @jbond5150 a KKK would never side with a jew, they would pick a white president over a jew every time

  • @aweiss well, they certainly did in '64... that is, if you consider goldwater a jew. he was by his father's blood, but declared himself episcopalian by his own admission. the alternative to goldwater was LBJ who voted in favor of civil rights legislation.

  • @jbond5150 incorrect, he pushed through a civil rights act in 57 but abstained from the vote

he signed into law an act in 64

  • @aweiss look dude, he voted against it in '64, which made most people who supported segregation support him when it came time for the november election. because of his vote, the perception among those who supported segregation was that Goldwater was on their side. thats why south carolina, georgia, alabama, mississippi, and louisiana and no other state other than arizona voted overwhelmingly for him in 64.

  • @aweiss Liberal propaganda

  • @hrdknox2000 Nope, Goldwater actually built his campaign with the Southern Strategy. He was a deluded imbecile. His "conservative" ideals failed to progress until America became more dependent on foreign oil in the 1970's. Even Tricky Dick Nixon thought it was best to use a centrist stance on economics; that's why he ended the Gold Standard during the 1971 inflation crisis.

  • @hulkyone Yeah and that's why inflation is thru the roof....because of being taken off the gold standard.....Nixon did it so that he could pay for the Vietnam war

  • @MrsSarb So you admit Nixon couldn't pay for the war if he kept us on the gold standard? LOL WE'RE PRETTY OVER THE INFLATION PART OF THIS ECONOMIC CRISIS TOO

  • @aweiss he was a non-religious jew. also, so what is the mans name was wasser? obviously his family was of German jewish descent, but please dont assume everyone with a German noun on their name is a jew.

  • @HavePride1 i need not, it is in his biography

I actually have a German Jew name :D

  • @aweiss I didn't state that you assumed Goldwater was a Jew because of his newly anglicized German surname, as he was most obviously a biological Jew. You have a German Jew name? odd, why is your youtube handle "a white"?

  • @HavePride1 a lot of jews are named weisbaum, weinstock, weingaurd with a wei- starting. i knew it meant white but it is not jewish?

  • no, Weiss is most likely a soley German name.

  • @HavePride1 hmm, they adopted it at ellis island i assumed they had picked a name that would be considered jewish, you are probably right, i do know that means white

  • @aweiss Because Goldwater opposed the Civil Rights act of 1964. And as you would guess the Klan was against integration, and equal rights for blacks. Goldwater was a republican of course.

  • @k3w1b3an5 the votes against the civil rights act were mostly democrats, republicans got it through with their votes.

  • @aweiss True. It just annoys me when people try to pass the Republican party of today as champion of civil rights of the past. The majority of the South voted Democrat 50 years ago and we all know the typical mindset of white Southerners back then. The bill was filibustered by (D) senators from AL, MS, La, Ga., Sc. . The bill was called for by a Democratic President .

  • @k3w1b3an5 What do you think the Radical Republicans did with Civil Rights Act 1875? Charles Summer was beaten in congress for trying to pass that act. The old Republicans were bastions of civil liberty and the old democrats gave birth to the KKK.

  • @bonfirejovi

Thats false, Northern Democrats kicked the Southern Democrats out so they turned into the Dixiecrats then switched to the Republican party after a year. The Dixiecrats where too small to be a viable party.

  • @toyotabedzrock No its true. How can you kick people out? The Southern Democrats left by their own accord. LBJ was a Southern Democrat in the 50s and was against both Eisenhower's CRAs. LBJ also said after signing the CRA 64... "that will get those n*ggers voting democrat for 200 years". Goldwater fought for gay rights, expecially with regards to the military.

Also to all the people who think Goldwater was with the KKK... HE WAS A JEW. Seriously people, think. LBJ was evil. MLK was republican.

  • cant be KKK are religious i m we cant hate devil can hate not us

  • Didn't (like him) then and won't now. (About L.B.J.) Ask somebody who knows, cause I was there in WWII and Korea. I never changed my mind.-- My Grandfather

In other words........It's just a lovely day (sarcasm)

  • Wait!! I thought LBJ was against the KKK!! He hated the KKK! So why are they endosing him?

  • DG, you could misinterpret add....but it was a pro Johnson add...Golwater endorsed by the good old KKK! How's that for misinterrpting?

  • Nope, the ad is saying Goldwater is a crackpot, so vote LBJ.... Its against the KKK

  • WOW When he said to do away with the Jews or Jewish people or Jewish faith. He just said to do away with the Old Testiment !

How can this Clown do away with the Old Testiment and still be a Christian. The Jews was or brought about the Old Testiment. you can go with him , but I will go with the OldTestiment.

  • Not to mention Christ himself was Jewish.

  • Result: 'We will have those ni**ers voting Democrat for the next 200 years."......Lyndon Johnson, president and mentally-ill misfit

  • AMEN!!

  • @bluegsp

I'll check back in if you can come up with a rebuttal. Otherwise, this thread's gotten boring.

  • Its been boring every since you joined in. XD

  • @bluegsp

    I see you don't have a rebuttal.

  • @loupy

    victory is mine

  • @bluegsp

    I see you don't have a rebuttal.

  • @loupy

    victory is mine

  • @bluegsp

    I see you don't have a rebuttal.

  • I have again destroyed you and all you can do is repeat yourself. quite a pattern with you. let me know if your feeble mind is able to muster any kind of intelligent thought. It hasn't so far, so I am not optimistic.

  • @bluegsp

    I see you don't have a rebuttal.

  • completely stumped aren't you. What a pathetically weak mind you have.

  • @bluegsp

    I see you don't have a rebuttal.

  • Thats what I thought.

  • @bluegsp

    I see you don't have a rebuttal.

  • I see you are a moron. You don't understand the constitution or the purpose of government.

You only know how to parrot old liberal propaganda that has been debunked years ago.

    Not very bright are you.

  • @bluegsp

    I see you don't have a rebuttal.

  • I just did idiot, are you blind? grow up retard!

  • @bluegsp

I notice you didn't rcomment on my observation that right-wingers stand for government.funding of those things they obviously consider important, such as weapons systems & wars, & leave to private charity those things they don't really care about, such as aid to the poor. Are you conceding my point by your silence?

&, why did the Clinton years see excellent job growth, & the George W. Bush years lousy job growth?

  • The very purpose of Government, as defined in the 2nd paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, is "to secure these [unalienable rights, Governments are instituted among Men", "that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

To fulfill this obligation, the Preamble of the Constitution states one of the duties specifically delegated to the Federal Government is to "Provide for the common defense".

  • bluegsp, evidently you don't want want to address the issue of poverty being more dire & having graver effects in the US than in other rich Western countries. Maybe that's your best gambit, to dismiss Americans' shorter average lifespans, higher infant mortality, etc., as lying liberal propaganda. Is that what you call "pro-life"?

I know that the GOP congress passed welfare reform in 1996 & Clinton signed it, but why the shitty figures on jobs & people plunged into poverty under GWB?

  • I don;t address lies, waste of time.

The only thing that is shitty is your brain.

You really don't have any idea what you are talking about do you? You have no clue what the "numbers" are do you? Why don't you shut the fuck up and get an education. You have all these posts, and you haven't said anything.

    What a moron

  • bluegsp, you right-wingers who ramble on about how aid for the poor ought to depend on private charity make it obvious you don't give two shits about the poor. You characters NEVER suggest that the programs you REALLY care about, like new weapons & wars, ought to depend on private charity. Relegating things to private charity is largely a ploy to abandon them & whitewash it--you may fool some, but not me.

  • bluegsp, neither Obama nor Biden (who was one of the least wealthy members of the Senate) are in the position of McCain, who with his beer heiress wife have so many houses & cars he can't count them. It wouldn't hurt to increase taxes on people at Biden's & Obama's income levels, though--or mine.

BTW--why do you think GWB had such shitty job numbers & so many people plunged into poverty in his 8 years as opposed to the Clinton years?

  • bluegsp, if conservatives are so compassionate & willing to help the poor, then they should have no beef with paying tax to do so. It makes no sense for you to both praise Bush for spending money on government poverty programs, & blast government poverty programs--but at least you're true to form. The US has lower average lifespan, higher infant mortality, & higher poverty--including child poverty-- than other Western countries: so much for your notions of freedom.

  • Finally you ask a good question. If Bush spent more money on Poverty than Clinton, why was there such a "decline" in poverty in the 90's? Is called the The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) of 1996 was designed to move poor people from welfare to work by imposing work requirements and a 5-year lifetime limit on Federal benefits.

  • bluegsp, many conservatives say the only way to help the poor is private charity. The virtuous individual chooses to donate of his free will--if he chooses not to, that's legally acceptable. The poor have to be lucky enough to live in a place with private charity & have no guarantee of help if they need it. I'd guarantee folks needed help as a matter of law & force even people with no conscience to pay tax to help. I pay my taxes & expect others to do so, like it or not.

  • Thank you for admitting that you do not believe in freedom. The truth is private charities are a lot more efficient and compassionate than any government. Bush spent over 14 % of the federal budget on poverty programs,(more than Clinton) and only 5% on the war on terror. 10 trillion has been spent on the "war on poverty" and we still have the same number of poor people. The fact that you can't understand that demonstrates you naivety and stupidity. you are an idiot! XD

  • If you need help finding these people with "no conscience" I suggest you look to the democrat party. McCain gave over 27% of his income to charity, Obama gave only about 5%. And of course ol' Crazy Joe Biden gave only 0.3%. Thats liberal compassion for you. XD
