  • I remember back when people played with toys like that. Oh I hated the song I was about to kill myself cz of it.

  • man this made me CRY!!! MEMORIES......born 1982

  • I've been singing this song for 35 years. Thanks, Sesame Street.

  • This video brought back so many memories of me and my twin sister, we used to watch this all the time. I wish she was still alive, she would have loved it.

  • great video

  • I remember xo ! thank you....

  • This is beautiful!!! I remember this song from my Childhood. THANK YOU for posting this!!

  • So cute! I remember this.

  • I loved this when I was a kid :) The expressions on the cats' faces when they burst into the dollhouse - classic. Thanks for posting this

  • I'm glad I found this. I've been thinking about this lately.

  • My sister and I thought the cat part was so funny when we were kids, just like the girls in the video

  • My childhood! *tears*

  • Kitties!

I can relate with the cats knocking things over. My cat's tail should be registered as a weapon.

  • The whole thing is just so cute!

  • I remember seeing this in 1999 or 2000. I was in first grade.

  • When did this come out? I remember watching this when I was a kid :-) It's one of those things where I couldn't remember much of it, so I wondered if it was something I just dreamt up.

  • @FuchsiasAttic1847 I looked it up and its from 1970. Apparently they've been re-running it forever, cause I know I watched it late 70s/early 80s and someone here remembers it from late 90s!

One of my all-time favorites <3

  • does anybody know the girls' names? It's such a beautiful vid, very calming :)

  • @AgnethaFrida8 I think one of the girls is Jim Henson's daughter.

  • @acrovader The cats were also owned by the Henson family.

  • @ceedkay Awesome! I never knew that.. this was one of my favorites in my Sesame Street watching heyday, around the early 80s

  • @lakettell I always get a warm fuzzy feeling when I watch this. :)

  • I remember I always loved the little spoons, the actual working light in their doll house, and the girls' laughs at the end. Too cute!!

  • This always makes me want to cry as soon as I hear it. I think it made me cry when I was younger too. The other song from Sesame Street that be makin' me wanna cry is "We All Sing the Same Song." One time my neice was watching a vintage clip of sesame street at the age of 2 and the song made tears come to her eyes. I forgot the song though. I think it was Ernie singing about the moon. OH ya!

  • A happy song to listen too, brings me back to the early 70s. Great memories. I wish Sesame street had a reunion and brought those two girls back for an interview.

  • Im 42 and that really takes me back to simple days, 4 channels on the tv, no microwaves, rotary phones, and I could go 4 blocks in any direction and the neighbors knew where I lived. Thanks for the memories!

  • I don't get why this makes people cry. I've thought it was hilarious since the first time I saw it when the two cats come in all gangster and trash the room!

  • This was 1 of my favorite clips those girls must b about 48 yrs old!! Felt a need 2 go back 2 my childhood today.

  • i bet those girls are nearly 40 now, as i am....

  • @mgapusaniboy5 Actually, probably closer to 50!

  • One of my best childhood memories! Thanks for sharing.

  • So yesterday I closed my eyes for a minute and I just remembered sesame street and then this doll house and these two girls playing with dolls and they were singing. It was a very vivid memory and when I found this I started to tear up a bit :) <3

  • yeah definitely the most adorable thing I have ever seen in my entire life.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow memories! I'm first generation too!

  • I remember this vinyette from my childhood!!! I always dreamed of having a doll house like that! What a flood of memories tha came rushing back.

Even now at 45 I envy those litttle girls with their little doll house!

  • @vintagesugar82

But at least you were still born in a groovy era, which I say are the 60's, 70's and 80's...btw, I was born in '75...

  • I saw an interview with Kim Raver (from the show Third Watch) quite a while ago where she said she was on Sesame Street when she was little. They showed a clip of her in the old "Come and Play" theme song. This girl looks really similar so I'm wondering if this is her also.

I loved this song too, I think it's my all time favorite Sesame Street short film. I love showing it to my 3 year old daughter now!

  • Me and my brother love this one :)

  • I sooo have always loved this one!! I think it started my obsession with miniatures!! :D

  • Best parts = when kitty cats go on rampage and the girls' wonderful reaction to the mess. Beautiful!

  • OMIGOSH -- I had forgotten about this. Brings tears to my eyes!!!

  • 1:12 "what's that sound?" so cute surprise ending

  • I have been thinking of this so much lately, especially since I have 2 stinker kitty cats like these in the video. Love it!!

  • DESTRUCTO-CATS!!!

Man, they don't make dollhouses like this anymore!

  • @txag2011 no they don't and they charge an arm and leg for them now, and although there plastic, and last forever it seems, I think there was more detail on them back in the day, well mine did anyways, and a home made one was always best.

  • @carolkira I had a very similar dollhouse, was made by a family friend, handed down to me after their girls grew out of it. I used to try to put my cat in it, lol

  • this made me cry when i was 9 years old

and hearing it again, it still makes me cry

    I don't know why

  • @jagdpanther1944 If anything, the sound is soporific and peaceful enough that it causes a flood of emotion.

  • @jagdpanther1944 I still get tears aswell, probably cause it is so peaceful, and most kids today don't play like that when I was a kid.....anyways when your feeling down watch it again and have another cry, but a happy one. Have a great day!!

  • @jagdpanther1944 Maybe this brings out the peace inside of you.

  • @jagdpanther1944 It always makes me get teary eyed too for some reason. :)

  • Loved it when I was a little girl and still love it now with my own little girl watching alongside me forty years later. <3 <3

  • this song brings back a lot of memories whenever i hear this song in my youth it will always bring a nice day ahead.

  • We had great kid TV when we were kids! <3

  • @Salineddi things where better then....BORN IN 1984!!!

  • I remember this...what good memories.

  • @ BSDKaffee

    LOL!!!

  • OMG!! How cute is this clip!! I love the song as this is just pure SS!!! As I was watching I was thinking how cool that Doll House is, and then when those cats trashed the place, that was just the funniest!!!

  • ive always wanted that doll house!! it even has a light that works. soo jealous.

  • The spoon goes on the left of BOTH plates, idiot girl! Oh, that other girl corrected your mistake.

  • @Coldwarwinner The spoon goes to the right of the plate. The girl who initially places the spoons correctly places the spoon for the other girl's doll, but not her own. The second girl who moves the spoon puts it to the left incorrectly. Seems like both erred. At 0:41 the place setting of the spoons is correct. So maybe within a few seconds they took an etiquette course and figured it out. Perhaps it was part of the pretending. "Let's put the spoons to the left to piss off these snobby dolls!"

  • What a wonderful memory of my childhood... I remember staying home from school and singing this all day.

  • The minute I heard the first 10 seconds, my jaw dropped and started to cry. What a wonderful memory of my childhood. I wish we all could go back to the innocence of that time. This video made my night.

  • @leeanna421 good nostalgia........

  • :) i havent hurd this song in years

  • Aww, brings back memories!

I always wanted a doll house like that.

  • this is absolutely as cute as can be!!! my mom rented these classic dvds(, and that was even before Elmo,) and the whole family enjoyed it!!! i have an older sister and a younger brother, but the episodes were so hilarous and educational that it didn't matter that the youngest watching was 8!

  • Loved the melody and used to sing this.

  • i always got mad at the cats :P

  • Vintage Sesame Street, now I'm old..lol

  • I always remebered the two kitty cats off on a spree lol!~

  • Isn't it amazing how you remember every single word to these songs?????

  • This song is 100% cuteness, but.....SOMEhow it gives me nightmares.

  • @dangard88 It's definitely the dolls

  • awww this is so cute

  • I love the cats in the end..

  • omg I just have come across this and can remember it as if it was yesterday

  • Classic! Thanks

  • The part with the cats was hilarious! This is one of my nostalgic moments! I remember this!

  • @playmates101 cats are funny anyway.

  • OMG this is a CLASSIC!! It was one of my favorite clips back in the day.

  • I was so jealous of these girls when I was younger. They had that awesome dollhouse AND two kittens! That was pretty much every little girl's dream.

  • I love this clip. Heh, you can tell it's the 80s before overprotective consumer regulations about choking hazards what with the tiny plates and spoons. ;)

  • If I'm not mistaken, this is the same woman who sings "Daddy Dear", but I'm not 100% sure. They're very similar.

  • Lol, naughty little kittens! :)

  • Whoever's playing bass on this track really kept the groove going.

  • One of the cutest Sesame Street songs!

  • Those damn cats

  • Sounds like Joan Baez singing - never forgot this and it still gets in my head.

  • Gotta love Sesame Street! --The Great American Dollhouse Museum

  • omg that brings back memories! I remember watching this with my son when he was really little.

  • thanks for this! I remember watching this on my old vhs tape :) as alittle girl

  • I remembered feeling scared after the dolls went to bed and the camera pans down and the music changes. You knew what was about to happen.

  • I am such a freak that a couple years ago I found tiny silverware like in this clip and had to buy it cause it reminded me of this!

  • I wanted that doll house too. It has working lights.

  • I wanted that doll house so-o-o badly!!!!

  • I just love the 2 kitties!!!

  • @deltalady72 as a boy that was my favorite part and I had one just like those cats. According to Muppetwiki, they were owned by the Henson family.

  • 1 littte man sitting on his butt drinking copiuos loads of beer . only joking . hey juli i think we might have cracked it ! den

  • My sisters and I loved this one when we were little!

  • I always wanted to play with that cool dollhouse!

  • I still remember this song, my 3 1/2 niece and i agree who had the better Sesame Street.. haha She says she does,:-)

  • God, as much as I like this and remember it very fondly (can still sing the lyrics), I seriously think those cats are total dbags for ruining the party. Every. Time. 30 years later, I still think, "Damn cats!" <:)

  • @editorgirrrl

well, they were just being curious

the two little girls certainly had a good time over it :)

  • Aw I remember this, it's so peaceful :)

  • Cute ending!

  • aw, I guess those little kitties like tea!!

  • this was my favorite too!!! very nostalgic. :)

  • Me too! I love this, it was my favorite on Sesame Street. When I was little I wanted that doll house!

  • i was so mesmerized by this song back then...i am still.

  • Awesome clip..........and did anyone notice the killer bassline starting @ 1:06?

  • Yes, and very touching and nostalgic...as are most of early Sesame Street clips. Hope more of them get posted!

  • Oh, I've been LOOKING for this one! This song has been in my head for the last 25 years!

  • @MasamunesSong I'm gonna record this song on my music/video device and download this video.

  • @jtomally9681 I'm waiting for the techno remix to come out.

  • Madame Alexander still makes dolls like these. This embodies the bliss of my youth. Wish current Sesame Street still had the simplel acoustic songs for my seedlings...

  • ..and I remember watching this with my brother when we were little boys..

we used to think that the cat coming and RUINED everything those girls had made is cool and kickass! ;-)

  • those acoustic guitar oriented music on Sesame Street those days were so nice to listen to even now.

  • I'm begining to think that those 2 cats are the strangers to the dollhouse.

  • I always loved this one for 2 reasons - the tiny furniture/dishes, and the cats at the end! But I just realized - how often in RL do you have teacups that are twice the size of the plates??

  • so cute

  • this is great, but what happened to "Wendy the Witch of Wednesdays?"

  • It was Wanda The Witch. :). And Witches who wash their wigs on wintry winter wendsdays are wacky.

  • one of my favorite of so many during the early sesame street years...I consider myself soooo lucky!

  • Man i wanted that dollhouse and those dolls so bad!!!

  • Loved watching this video when I was a young girl.

  • The voice singing sounds a LOT like the voice singing in many Winnie the Pooh movies..anyone knows?

  • Carly Simon?

  • i remember this from when I was little wonder what year it was from? Is the little blond girl jim hensons daughter?

  • yes

  • It's from 1970, and the blonde girl is indeed Jim Henson's daughter.

  • I believe the girl is Cheryl. Heather was born in 1970, so it couldn't be her.

  • Fantastic to see this again after 30 odd years. I still remembered all the words to the song...

  • omggg i use to LOVE this!!

  • Is the blonde girl Cheryl or Heather Henson?

  • i have been trying to find this song for soooo long!!! thanks for posting....<3

  • I feel like I am 5 years old again!!

  • great times..

sesame street had such feel good music and educational songs...i am 30 and can recite them like i was still 5. :)

  • I remember watching this and being jealous that I didn't have a bitchin' doll house like them.

  • This brought back great memories from when I used to watch this show. I was about their age when I watched it too.

I could still sing along and that was at least 30 years ago, amazing.

Those little girls might actually be grandmothers by now.

    :)

  • One thing I just thought on, why did the cats sneak into the dollhouse in the first place? (How did the filmmaker coax them in, for that matter?) Cats don't generally do stuff like that, esp when you want them to :) The little girls don't seem to mind, were they having some fun with the dolls and cats?

  • I bet they put a little milk in them teacups! I know my cats would gladly cram into a dollhouse for some milkage! :)

  • what those cats did to their dollhouse looks like my house at the end of the day leaving my 4 month old kitten by herself with my other cat.

  • This dollhouse clip comes from the classic sesame street vintage video called Learning about numbers.

  • Love YouTube. I saw this the other day on 'Open Sesame' watching with my 8 month old, and brought back the memory, it was amazing! - loved those kitties and yes I wanted the doll house!! I mustnt have seen it for 30 years!

  • This brings back memories. They don't make shows like this anymore, just dumb ones for kids which is unfotunate.

  • wow!!! i wanted that dollhouse soooo bad when i was little...and how come im 40 now and still want it! lol...thanks for posting this...

  • OH my god, I haven't seen this for a LONG time, and remember it word for word. Says a 19 year old male. I had this video, and my mum said she was jealous and wanted that dolls house.

  • This clip is from the early 70s(1970-71) and Jim Henson's daughter(s). I would think that they are in their mid 40's.

  • thanks so much for replying. that's really cool it's jim hensons daughter, had no idea=)

  • Beautiful. Love those kitty-cats at the end. :)

  • who didn't want to play with them ! :) thanks for posting.

  • LMFAO

    aww.

    Sesame street <3

  • I wanted that house so bad, all because of the kitchen stuff!

  • OMG

    i remember this

  • Oh that is adorable! This used to be one of my favorite segments on Sesame Street!

  • wow i never 4got this I loved this when i was alittle girl

  • Oh man, I remember this like yesterday!

  • This was one of my favorites, too!!! I always thought the doll house was SOOO cool. Also loved the cats at the end! LOL

  • i used to love this

  • does anyone remember what video this was from? i had this on vhs as a little girl

  • Thank you for posting, for a few moments I was 5 years old laying on the floor at my parents house watching T.V. waiting for my brother to come home from school.

  • this was my favorite song, wow.

    i feel old now :')

  • Oh wow, I can't believe I found this! This used to be my favourite on Sesame Street! It brings back memories!

  • I loved this as a little girl!

If only I could have had a tiny set of plates and teensy spoons like that as a kid for my dolls! I can't imagine my daughter having them for long before they got lost.

I just love the girl's giggles as the cats trash the place, lol.

  • Oh my goodness, this was my fav. when I was little. Wow..what memories. Gosh I am getting old...LOL!!

  • oh my! i remember this! thanks for uploading

  • One of my favs from when I was little, probably when it first came out (It's labeled vintage....i must be getting old). Thanks for posting!!

  • madame alexander dolls nice

  • CAT BURGLERS!

  • It's so cute how that little girl is laughing when the cats come in and mess everything up! Everything about this video is absolutely adorable!

  • I remember seeing this when I was a kid! I loved all the cool little dollhouse accessories. My cat used to go in my dollhouse too! This video made me cry. I forgot a lot of the things in this video!

  • I almost cried too I loved this when I was a little girl

  • Those cats meant no harm. They were only there to play with the girls, not ruin the girl's day.

  • ANy idea who sings this??? It sounds like Loretta Long (Susan) but I am not sure. Bob

  • It makes me sad too, the lady's voice is so haunting. Now Im grown up and I still love dollhouses.
