I loved Uncle Norman and Joffa Boy when I was a kid, years later I was working in the city of Melbourne at the Coles store that used to be opposite Myers. I was what I thought was a cool 18 year old when I spotted Uncle Norman shopping in the store, I lost all of my coolness and rushed over to him saying 'G'day Uncle Norman'. He was terrific, he was running a lighting store nearby and after that he would often come in and say hello to me. Great memories, thanks heaps for posting this.

Does anyone remember his first show when he came down the slide and accidentally broke his leg??The kids laughed because they though he was joking but the poor bugger was in agony!

Uncle Norman has lot to answer for - I used to love watching him on the show - and because he was a Fitzroy supporter, I had to follow them too.

I can still remember when they sacked him only to replace him and Joffa with that twat James Kemsley (Skeeter) from the Super Flying Fun Show. Thank Christ he didn't last long.

Norman Swain. In his later years he ran Salon Of Distinction, a lighting shop in the Royal Arcade in Melbourne CBD. My mate and I scared the bejeebers out of him by going in there dressed as Blues Brothers (we were en route to the Valhalla's BB Late Show, and this would be about 1983). My mate is 6'2" and about 23 stone. He looked at us like, "hamina hamina h-h hello" but I just wanted to shake his hand and tell him how much I used to enjoy THE TARAX SHOW. "Are you Mr Swain?" "y-y-yyes".
