Vince did not want to make them stars because they made a name for themselves in the AWA, so when Paul went to the WWF as Kato, Vince kept them on the bottom of the tag tam ranks.
@goldzim Shawn Michaels didn't make a name for himself in the AWA? Or Curt Hennig? Or Scott Hall? Or the Road Warriors?
I'm not saying Vince didn't have his reasons for not doing anything with Badd Company... possibly even a petty and/or ridiculous ones. But he didn't seem to have the same underlying resentment towards the AWA guys that he held towards the NWA guys. I don't think he even saw the AWA as competition after he signed Hogan away.
@Dfuq1964 bullshit, ever see the DDP vs Savage or DDP vs Raven stuff? DDP wasn't a great technical wrestler but he was definately a great working man babyface.
@Dfuq1964 u should go back and watch that stuff. WWE has perpetuated this belief that DDP wasn't a good worker, but he was very solid. Even his late 95-96 stuff vs the Guerreros (I know, you'd have to be physically and mentally retarded to have a bad match with them, but still) was pretty good.
@Dfuq1964 I beg to differ with you. From '97-'99, DDP was one of the only reasons I tuned in to WCW. That feud with Savage was one of the hottest feuds of the '90s. They dropped the ball and took too long to give him the belt, then turned him heel.
Bad Company was. For being a heel team, they sure got a babyface reaction. Guess that's what looking like and carrying yourself like stars with a great entrance can do for you.
I saw this match back in 1988 and I thought it was pretty good. 20 years later, it still holds up great. It's cool seeing two heel tag teams go at it.
They did work together in the WWF, sadly though, it was under "Badd:" circumstances. Tanaka was getting bloated, and McMahon hid Diamond behind a mask, and called him "Kato." They were the New Orient Express.
I'm aware they were the new Orient Express. One thing I always wondered was why Paul Diamond always competed under a mask, be it as Kato or the second version of Max Moon. I still thought the four had a good match at Royal Rumble '91 and at some house shows, but for a number of reasons, it wasn't the same as it was a few years prior.
Am I nuts or is one of those Diamond Dolls Kimberly, DDP's exwife?

I could remember seeing them here in Memphis. Tanaka and Diamond were Badd.

DDP was a better hype man than a wrestler!

Its amazing how great yet underrated

When I was a teen, BADD COMPANY was my fave tag team. It's so cool to see these vids again.

BC's entrances were awesome, DDP announcement and then Bad Company by Bad Company kicks in and starts when the music begins to rock.

Great entrance! Badd Company was one of the most underrated teams of the late '80s. It's a shame WWF didn't do anything with this team.
kingdomoftheworm 3 years ago 5
Agreed, though at the very least they were smart enough to give them ample matches with the Rockers which never dissapointed.
diamondman420 3 years ago 2
Well, those two teams always worked well together. Whether it was Memphis, the AWA, or the WWF, they always put on great matches together.
kingdomoftheworm 3 years ago 2
Yeah it was one of the best tag team feuds of the 80's, and probably ever just due to the match quality.

Good match puts the RR 91 match lightly. Its one of the greatest tag team matches of the 90's and the highlight of the Orient Express run in the WWF.
songoku350 2 years ago
@kingdomoftheworm Agreed. Badd Company was a good team that in the big leagues got blatantly underutilised.
gogotonyyo 8 months ago
@kingdomoftheworm Amen to that. They didnt have to do that Orient Express crap.
