  • Imagine if Congress and the president had to use the same level of health care with which they allow the people to suffer. Our senators and representatives get free doctor's visits. The first question their M.D.s ask is, "How are you feeling?" while asking the citizens they represent, "How are you going to pay for this?"

  • DeFazio said it would save $40 billion for all insurance and 10-20% on health insurance premiums. The math doesn't make sense here. Even if the $40 billion savings were all in health care, it would imply that the total industry is at most $400 billion since 40 is 10% of 400.

But I'm totally with him on the idea. Insurance shouldn't be allowed to possess too much monopoly power because just like any other industry it raises prices.

  • We should get rid of the Medicare advantage BS. Then Medicare would be better off. We need to abolish the private HC industry all together especially after seeing their conduct. Profit motive and HC don't go together.

  • Defazio is the best progressive in Oregon

  • this "progressive" was actually towing the Obama administration line that we need to cut costs in medicare, in other words we need to cut medicare benefits

  • There are problems with Medicare that need to be fixed. There are companies that get away with overcharging Medicare and billing for work that isn't really being carried out at all. Also Medicare Part D amounts to corporate welfare for Big Pharma. So these are reforms that would result in cutting costs without cutting services for people on Medicare.
