  • I.m going to cut that open and see how it looks. lmfao.

  • another use for chop sticks!

  • I honestly thought this was a Monty Python sketch.

  • @AN1918 Hahaha

  • Cooking starts at 3:40

  • Her voice was something else.. lol

  • Awesome :D I will try it out very soon :D

  • Ahh the irony...Between cooking shrimp(back of Old Bay can)for the first time and getting a santoku ceramic knife for Christmas I have been on an amateur culinary journey recently. I bought all the ingredients for an omelet and it didn't work out(the flipping and even cooking), was still good though. Just watched Julia & Julia-mostly because the BCS Championship sucked-and it led me here. A very hot pan and shaking? Have all surplus ingredients and will try soon.

  • like if GAGA sent you here!!!

  • What is the secret to getting an omelette out of a non-stick pan? Cooking spray alone does NOT do the trick!

  • @devangelis if your egg is sticking to the pan even with cooking spray, either you need to trash the pan or you're cooking at way too low a temp.

  • Oh my gosh!

I cannot take her voice seriously!!!!!!!!!

    HAHAHA

  • ahhhh finally!!!!!!! Omletts and i have NEVER gotten along. I just stopped making them after awhile. this will help so much. I'm hungry i think i'm going to go try this out haha.

  • I just watched "Julie & Julia". LOL.

  • @freakycatdog LOL I'm watching that right now!!!

  • why do find her more convincing, than today's celebrity chefs..

  • C'est merveilluex! Merci Julia!

  • Hah, I came here after reading a Cracked.com article. Love her!

  • she was a fuckin spy in like world war 2

  • @FreddieMcswaggness She was just a desk clerk managing the paperwork.

  • This is the first time I've seen Julia Child. This is hilarious.

  • that's beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • julia cant cook. but she loves to. makes her the sweetest kinda gal.

  • Great now when I make an omlette I am going to talk like her

  • No fillings is no fun. Not even cheese? Without cheese it's just scrambled eggs folded over.

  • @DNForeverable ah damn laughed my ass off cuz it's so true

  • You flip it over by turning the pan over...

  • erm i love uk

  • Great video!!!

  • I love Julia Child. I hate the movie julie and julia though. or i just hated julie actually.

  • @bell666XXX

Haha...same here. I just skipped those parts.

  • wow. effortless.

  • i've tried making omelettes dozens of times, and it has just not worked. this morning, i watched this and decided that it looked so bloody easy that there was no way it could go wrong.

    it went wrong,

  • 0:37

And not a single fuck was given.

  • im only 18 and love julia child and i must say there is nothing wrong with the movie julie and julia. i enjoyed it very much and have watched it a few times

  • @richintalent how does that taste? Does it give it a dramatic flavor change?

  • she blew my mind with that first omelette... by the way, go to hell with this "julie and julia" shit. I will never watch that terrible movie.

  • she's so violent!

  • no YOU overcooked it

  • that's a lot of butter

  • @bubs0000 Animal fat won't kill you too fast. Look at Paula Dean.

  • just watched julie & julia!

  • What did she sprinkle on it?!?!

  • @gowbster

    Parsley

  • Did she just sprinkle chonic on that?

  • This was lagging as much as Minecraft.

  • Meryl is good but there is always something cocky about her in most her movies but before mamma mia i seen post cards from the edge and was like ooh she would be good if they made a mamma mia movie WALAH LOL Back To Julia did she smoke as her breathing is a bit rough or is that just nervous as i think this was alive as her mistake was not edited out

  • @EmoDeathStar121 I think she did indeed smoke in real life. But everyone did back then.

  • cool i need a man

  • yikes! non-stick pan over high heat = cancerous. . . especially in those days. oh, Julia. . .

  • looks a bit raw (for my taste anyway)

  • Oh Julia, you beautiful beast. If I only knew making an omelette was as easy as shaking a pan around and dumping it on a plate with a cup of parsley on top.

  • @TheLizzifer lol, too true too true

  • Dd

  • she threw the puffy omelette pan. lol!

  • Meryl Streep did the exact voice in the movie omg! Good omelette :)

  • in place of alt & pepper I use steak seasoning

  • I don't think anyone will ever be able to reanact julia, even meryl I just wasn't entirley convinced. and julias voice is a little deeper too

  • @puddl3zzy0

Well duh? That's because no one can ever be entirely like another person. Meryl did a good job. She got close to it.

  • Oh my goodness, I tried making this omelette and my brother said it was the best omelette he has ever tasted :D

Her recipe and method is so reliable, I totally recommend it. <3

  • @LishStars I knoww, I remember last year when I made it and It was just the most amazing omlette I have ever had, so tender and delicious.

  • Meryl Streep really did a great job on imitating Julia Child's Voice :D lol

  • @PenultimateRun No she didn't. She used to work for the American OSS, but only in an administrative capacity.

  • Why is every TV chef so fucking adorable?

  • so Feeling like having a little fun? Come see me and lets talk

  • i did it! by myself and it was very tasty :P

  • Here she makes a classic french omelette and she did well....she kept it simple to make a point at how quickly it can be made

  • Is she drunk?

  • @davewasthere No, that would be Sandra Lee.

  • @frankiefan842 Or Graham Kerr. Though Julia did like her wine while cooking.

  • i bet no one here know she was a spy during ww2

  • @varmintgrenade No one knows because it isn't true. She did work for the OSS, but only in an administrative capacity.

  • Suddenly... A wild omelet appears!

  • She talks like Larry Flint

  • HAHA. that was awesome. no spatula. maybe 1.5 eggs. hahaha. epic.

  • Im acutely shocked some silly guy didnt get thousands of tumbs up for stating she said Jerking lol.

  • @EmoDeathStar121 (imitates Beavis) heh-heh-heh... she said 'jerking'...

  • @richintalent Personal fan of bevis as they gave me Daria so contradicting my self by giving you a thumbs up

  • people should watch the movie "Julie & Julia" to know how's her life going

  • She's the best cook that ever lived I love you Julia child

  • amazing.... i have always wondered. So simple, but complex. i love the movie and i love to make food. YUM!

  • when did teflon pans come out?

  • @namekman01 not until 8 years after Julia Child filmed this show.... o_O

  • @namekman01 It was invented in 1938 but didn't start getting manufactored as nonstick cookware until 1956 or so. It was first marketed in 1961. The French Chef started airing on TV in 1963 so I don't know how TheBrewChief thought that Teflon pans came out 8 years later.

  • @GhostPirate6 ahh, ok, u sound more informed than him, so ill take ur word for it

  • Julia rocks

  • i miss her ='(

  • I just realize now how perfectly Meryl Streep imitated Julia's voice and gestures..they dont call her one of the best actresses of all time for nothing.

  • Anything Julia Child is marvelous.

  • this is gr8...i LUV omelettes (even tho i havent had one in ages im seriously cravin one now) and i LUV her...))

  • it looks like Jacques Pepin omelette

  • @CristiGiambasu11 Jacques et Julia etaient amis. Jacques and Julia were friends.

  • @phil2u Intresting... Thanks! Merci beaucoup!

  • @phil2u Not just friends, but also colleagues. They had a show together for quite awhile. It was hilarious near the end of the shows after they had hit the wine fairly hard, and were pretty drunk. Their humor got pretty out there at that point. It was also funny to see them bicker over how much of what to use as ingredients.

  • sry julia but tht omelette looks bad, at least as a french chef make it look decent XD You dumped it onto a plate my god

  • @iansaurus2008 suht the fuck up dude just dont she's a better fuckin cook than youll ever be

  • WOO WOO WOO SGAQ COOK COOK CHEF CHEF SWAGG SWAGG let that boy cook swag bow

  • ... omelette du fromage?

  • yup she brought me here. What a great woman.

  • Julia: This sort of omelet pan is not the one we will be using.

    *chucks pan*

  • @Kelifer2010 Classic Julia move!

  • I'm watching the J&J movie right now. I had to look this lady up. She may have a funny voice, or may not be up to standards of todays chefs. But she made something of herself by doin somethin she loves. She had and still has a great following. I can't believe ppl hating on her so hard. Well Ms. Julia Child, you're a legend in my book. Peace & <3

  • @MsLexi121212 Most would say that her lack of polish makes her better and more personable than most modern television chefs.

  • I usually mix in some milk instead of water.

  • Love the movie & am loving Julia Child, had to look her up

  • Sorry Julia - you're great, but salt and pepper should never be added to eggs in the beginning, as they break down the egg too much and lose that great texture.

  • @lourak : So when do you add the S&P? (Just curious.)

  • @zabadazidit In each case, depending upon how many eggs are being used, add salt and pepper when the eggs are quite nearly coagulated and more or less in the shape you want them. You can also add salt and pepper after their done - just let them stand for a moment before serving so that the eggs absorb the salt and pepper a bit. But definitely not in the batter before going into the pan.

  • @lourak: I'll try it that way next time. Thanks! (Bon appetit!) ;-)

  • no i is not

  • funny haha ;p

  • A last minute dinner party for 300 people? Is that even possible?

  • the more biggest cheff

  • its john lithgo!

  • That omelette looks like crap to me!!!!

  • Never realized how quickly omelettes should ideally be cooked. I'd always cook 5 or 6-egg omelettes over medium heat and clumsily flip them over to cook the other side before I'd try to fold them over whatever I wanted to fill them with. I just made two with three eggs each, the way Julia did here, and they turned out better than any other omelette I've ever tried to cook, albeit slightly overcooked still. I love this woman.

  • that first is 1 ugly egg. haha but i love Julia.

  • i never thought that anyone can make me want to make an egg so bad. She made it so friggin quick it blew my mind

  • LET THAT GIRL COOK!

  • OMG - Julia Child sucked me into this 7 min. video on how to cook eggs and I HATE cooking shows. Julia rocks!!!

  • There's a place and a time for everything. Julia obviously wouldn't make it in today's slick and shallow world of show business. When she became successful, slick and shallow had not quite infested it yet, so that is why she was able to be successful, simply because she was a good cook and had a somewhat unorthodox way of presenting herself.

A large part of the rest of the world is also shallow. The percentage of negative comments on her physicalities attests of that.

    Envious it is too.

  • i bet she's hung like kareem abdul jabbar

  • Miss Doubtfire with no scottish accent.

  • Pro Tip: Make sure your pan has a handle...

  • is she left handed?

  • Wow....I laugh every time I hear her say "Beat It Up" at 4:01

  • I love how she tosses the faux omlette pan away at 2:14 !

  • Watching the movie helps if you don't appreciate Julia Child's unique and great personality :)

I saw 'Julie and Julia' and I just have to say that it's watching Julia Child as who she really is that you can say Meryl Streep did a really fantastic job of her in the movie.

  • like if your hungry now.

  • Love her, and her perfectly coiffed cheveux!

  • I do not like her omelette...

  • The British stereotype of US tv presenters is that they're really slick, well-groomed and word-perfect. Obviously we never saw The French Chef. Julia Child is... compelling.

  • Gosh what is up with all the hating on her??

  • She puts a lot of emphasis on the H. but I don't care at all.

  • The most awesome part of this video is that she's using an electric stove...proving that the average person in their average kitchen can cook amazing food. Never been impressed with the wussy chefs who can only cook on gas stoves.

  • "Voila"

"No thanks, you can keep it"

  • she sounds like she's trying not to die...

  • Ah, bravo, Miss Julia! I love how she just tosses the "puffy omelette" pan to the side. Love her, she's such fun to watch!

  • for everyone who thinks she is a moron or stupid or whatnot at least she had her own tv show and did what she liked the most and she even got a movie can't say the same to you people.

    Greetings Sindrassa

  • @Sindrassa Plus she wrote most of a 600 something page book, spoke another language, was part of WWII, and married a man 10 years older than her. I'm pretty sure most people can say that

  • @Sindrassa I think she was adorable :)

  • @Sindrassa she definitely wasn't stupid; she worked for the OSS prior to her cooking career.

  • @Sindrassa She was far from a moron. She was fun and funny. She didn't try to hide mistakes. And she taught america how to cook.

  • Oh wow. Meryl Streep didn't make up the voice after all.

Either way, she was great at what she did, and I use some of her recipes today from an old book my grandma lent me.

  • wow... Meryl streep made it!

  • she's very precise . =D

  • susan boyle meets mickey mouse! love her though!

  • You know the end of civilization is near when Julia Child's current counterpart is Rachel Ray.

  • @zolluuu *Rachael Ray

  • @laurenxprice I can honestly say that I'm glad I didn't know how to spell her name :)

  • @zolluuu Why? That's just ignorant and looks bad on your end.

  • @laurenxprice Because it shows that I stopped paying attention to her as soon as I realized what a moron she was, which was pretty much immediately. In fact, even discussing what a moron she is gives her more time than she deserves, so end of discussion.

  • @zolluuu A *[successful] moron.

  • LoL My pan is screwed up. I cannot do that XD

  • @jensssen - It could be that your pan wasn't big enough. The "traditional" omelette pan is too small for a classic French omelette. I had to use a 10" pan and it worked perfectly. That, and make sure the flame is on the highest setting.

    Bon appetit!

  • She kinda sounded like Kermit in the beginning

  • "That's not it!" *fling*

  • @myasheed it should be kind of creamy on the inside, not quite solid. i thought i was doing it wrong at first.

  • from a kids in the hall video, the recommendations at the bottom, one of their chicken lady sketches... then julia. maybe it's that the same kind of people watch her that watch kith that watch her... she's fun.

  • She sounds like a mongo

  • who else would use the word CLOAK in a cooking show?

Loved how she plunked that 2 piece omelette pan into the trash

    Julia rocks :)

  • who else would use the word CLOAK in a cooking show?

    Julia rocks :)

  • isnt that just scrambled eggs with parsley as a garnish??? I think if the parsley was added while in the pan it would be an omlette.

  • Comment removed

  • @1974dodgestepside ..right and these days it's consider a health hazard by not cooking your eggs well. And I wonder how she would cook an omelet w/ cheese, onions & ham in it lol

  • i'm gonna try 2 do this!
