I like this one much better than the more commonly heard versions. But what's amazing is that the pics at about 1:30 look like my(late)Mother when she was younger?.....and at 1:40,she looks like both my oldest sister when she was younger, and also a bit like my(late)first wife(only difference is her hair, and not even that much of one....the expression her face is exact! ) when we first met!!
@imanuglyfrogBeautiful. The first version of this song I'd heard was back in the 70's by Ronstadt, but I knew she was covering someone else's original. This song sounds exactly like it should, and Wanda Jackson's missing verse is a sheer pleasure. Her voice is so sure and strong, and a perfect match to these beautiful lyrics. For Ronstadt to pull off this song, she had to dig deep down inside and give it her all. Wanda sang it and gave it the character that Linda Ronstadt could only copy.
Frog have you thought of calling the CMA and asking them when Ms. Wanda Jackson will be inducted in the Hall of Fame. People who should not be in there are there now and she made such contribution to country music the way it should sound and be sung and she is not even mentioned these days.

In FACT this song was not written by either Jack Rhodes nor Dick Reynolds, In fact this song was written by my wonderful and amazing aunt Pasty who never got the true credit for the song.

if I didn't know, i would have thought I was listening to Dolly Parton. i have not heard of Wanda Jackson, but I am not a country listener either.

I wonder why "Country Singers" of today, with a few exceptions, don't have a Southern accent?

@Creaky1964 I wondered that myself, being a southerner, who gets made fun of by other southerns for sounding too southern XD XD
