Had nothing to do with the crane, the crane was solid, if you look at the wind sock the winds were way too high, one of the three operators it took to run that things said no way and a company man ran the machine instead. Cranes aren't meant for side loading on the boom, which is what happened when the wind blew the section being lifted, the company wanted to lift it anyways, it could have been avoided.
0:46 OMG THAT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION THAT MEANS THE CRANE WAS BROUGHT DOWN BY BOMBS, EVEN THOUGH NO TRACES OF BOMBS WERE EVER FOUND, AND THE MOST PLAUSIBLE ANSWER WAS THE BOLTS COMING APART, BUT I'M STICKING TO MY BOMB THEORY BECAUSE IT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION!
Amazing camera work! Most of this kind of videos end up with the camera man waving the camera everywhere but on the action. Big compliment for him. Sorry for the lives that got lost.
This accident was the cause of someone not putting together everything needed before lifting this heavy object. The wind speeds were too high to keep the heavy object in the air for a long period of time. No one got the wind speeds in the open air above the stadium.
I saw a documentary about this accident. It is real and people were killed. If I remember right, the killed workers were working on one of the walls of the stadium and the crane fell on them. They put 97% of the blame on the 4 crane operators and 3 on the company for not training properly. The load was near the crane's lift capacity and could only be done with zero wind.
@103cubicinch please stop crying. If I worked with these men I'd be secretly trying to kill them. I love when peope are hurt and dying. It makes it better if they re innocent and have famlies
At points in my life iv thought to myself "man iv really fucked up this time" but this gives me assurance that i could have fucked up a whole lot more.
@tj526 of course you can't see anyone got killed. Do you know just how big miller park is? Inside and out? Lemme tell you I go to games every season, the stadium is massive. Lots of areas where workers were in the way
@MrHobiecat O great. Another conspiracy theorist. The world could always use another one of you losers. You must have an orgasm when your watching shows like destroyed in seconds. Its full of "conspiracies" like this one
@cascist after reading most of the comments, the guy with the camera was from OSHA. He was called because the primary crane operators refused to lift the load. He did not have the balls to stop the lift, but he was convinced there was enough danger that he better get it 'on film'.
I was right, it was HIS JOB TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING, and he KNEW IT WAS NOT SAFE.
Oh and BTW, just a little FYI on some of the other posts here. The BOSS had nothing to do with any crane operation. The CRANE OPERATOR has full responsibility and FULL AUTHORITY to deny or refuse any pick for any reason. I am not talking about this pick, I am talk about all picks in general.
I was there about 200' behind that camera. I was in the area looking over a new project at the airport there and got invited to the site to watch the pick. Terrible.
The pick was within the crane's capacity for this configuration. At that time however, there were no "real" calculations for the effect the wind would have on a the load. This accident was a major factor in revolutionizing the safety standards for the industry. Also know that in an accident like this there is rarely only 1 person to blame. Thee original operator KNEW the crane couldn't handle it.
@Breakthrough501 What the fuck dude. Owned by a crane? How does that work? That is like if I get killed by a stupid bug in a game, that isn't being owned you noob.
lol wow if people cant tell if its fake or non fake from watching a real footage video maybe shouldnt be commenting. but yes this is sad and scary to be there.
@MegaBigbonus Its not fake three men died in that accident they were in bucket on the smaller one acting as spotters. There is a memorial at the stadium in honer of their death. BTW the cause of the accident was wind shear on the roof piece. Next time do some research before you say fake.
@twoule How about you give me your phone number, and a family member of one of the men that lost their lives that day can call you to confirm the realness. This was a result of unsafe construction practices, fuel by corporate greed and the desire of independent wealth. Which KFC do you work at? I'll come up, buy you a leg or two and we can talk ignorance and the damage it does to the people and the planet.
@Jammed9000 yea 2 of them where in a small bucket on a nother crane in side the building the large structure crashed down on the 2 men in the bucket i dont know what happen to the other 1.
@dyingmau5 I believe it was in Texas. The crane name was Big Blue. I imagine you can look it up. It was a terrible accident that should never have happened.
This is a grim reminder that construction deadlines and corporate greed disregard us all.
Some of the iron worker who were suspended below the rigging were killed in this accident
The regular operator refused to do the lift because he knew that there was too much wind and side-load that day so the corporate pigs called in a temp to do it.
@dyingmau5 they said it was a presser point on Big blue at the base of the crane and the sheer weight of the massive roof structure it was too much for the 1 crane to handle the cause is weight and some faulty welding on the crane. cause theres another vid on youtube on this in more details i got what i saw from it and typed it to u some of it may be wrong but the wight of the roof is 1 major cause
First off learn how to spell. Before I begin I would like to mention that I am a collision expert. The result that transpired on that day was the reason of a combination of overlooked (Crucial) critical details that need to be taken in to consideration when constructing a stadium. First and for most you need to establish a foreground. That foreground is the plan as to how the structure will be constructed.
Piece by piece ever portion of this phase must not be forgotten. Every time you add something you must take into consideration the weight, size, shape and its relation to another part of the structure. i.e. the foundation or a tier platform normally meaning the add-on to a non-single story building. You may have the most strongest peice of material but that material may be the weakest, if the added structures weight can over come its stability.
In this case, the crane was not a sufficiant assistant for the previousely structured add-on. Word from the wise..... Like I said, You must remember what lies underneith. wether it be the equipment you use or the portion of the fixed structure that is being added to. For if you dont horrible consequences may occur.
Not only was the crane insufficiant in regardes to durability but the positioning of the crane was not adequate for the task that was poorly and carelessly performed. Faulty welding on the crane was not the problem! It was the mistake of the contractors.
They failed to examin the structure from all angles with depth. The three that lost their lives. My condolences. The fault lies with their onsite bosses. Dont ever get into something that has not been looked at from every angle and every possible mathamatical equasion. Big or small you might cost someone their life and right to call it a day and go home.............................? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
@CT8655 Wind, on the piece and the boom caused severe side loading which a crane is not designed to handle. That coupled with the immense weight of the vertical load (which was in fact within capacity) caused the dynamic loading that brought this rig down...... I believe a few operators refused that particular lift that day because of the high winds. Unfortunately one didnt.
@Dustpiggy17 They were just doing their jobs, no sense in blaming their boss. The equipment failed and there is not much you can do about that, though they should have inspected it first, or got a second crane to help support the weight.
@mrhozer It's not an equipment failure. Doing an inspection wouldn't of resolved the problem. The investigation in that particular case was the wind! The wind made the crane tip, the operator of the crane shouldn't of made that lift and yes the BOSS is to blame when you direct and instruct workers to do a task therefore you are responsible of their health and safety along with the outcome. Do your homework little fellow and start reading about safety and responsibilities at the workplace.
I don't see how people laugh and make fun about something like this. This accident killed some people, what's funny about this??? I am sorry for their families but I'm almost more sorry for unintelligent, dumb, disrespectful people because they can cause so much damage with their stupidity! Everybody who is laughing about this need to start doing something with their lives, start with going back to school and learn something.
I hope you all will never have to watch someone you love die and see others laughing about it! How ignorant can someone be? That explains why we have so much cruelty going on in this world, nobody cares anymore, people are just cold. Very sad.
@Bretse yeah, its the fact that this video is even PREFACED where the guy says people died from this ! that makes its pure stupidity for someone to laugh and heartlessness
kinda weird the camera guy says "watch it" but no sounds of shock or anything at all? Watch the 9-11 videos and see how much talking and cussing happens when New Yorkers see the buildings damaged!
@ bayowolf. The guy filming this was actually from OSHA. That crane was called big blue the largest on the continent. The reason OSHA was there was because the operator would make the lift but the super running the job pressured him to do it anyways. He called OSHA hoping the could shut down the lift but they could not. So they documented it in case. That's how we have this footage. It was the highest construction death payout ever to the families due to gross negligence.

@1116dircks so the idiot from OSHA was concerned enough to shoot video, but not enough to stop the lift?
Also, I notice he stood UPWIND from the crane.
Its better to lose your job than to kill someone else.
