Old republic won't beat SWG. Old republic is geared towards wow fans, been watching my friend play the weekend beta thing. Its very similiar to wow, nothing like swg. I've played around 15 mmo's and swg is by far the best i've ever played.

It was funny as hell. SOE fugged the game all up to try to keep people from going over to WoW. Funny thing was no one WANTED to go to WoW until NGE took us out. You should have seen all the level 1 horde running around after NGE hit live.

This game looks like yr limited on what u can do in game. Also the graphics look very blockish like an N64. The rooms look bare and empty. Too much open space without feature's. It's like the creator's gave up on it.
I tried telling people this when SOE made the first post that they were changing the combat system in SWG, but everyone was determined that it was all up to SOE.
What people don't understand is LucasArts is involved with every Star Wars product that is released, and eventhough they are just the publisher for most Star Wars games, they still have the say so over anyone, including the actual developer. What they wants happens, or nothing gets published at all.

There is nothing wrong with new SOE patch. The game is great! Im playing it since November 2008 and its awesome. I recommend to all. (1000 better than WoW)

They screwed up (revamped is what they said) the combat system in response to the upcoming threat of world of warcraft to try and keep players but all they did was just show them the door. They tried I guess it just wasn't what needed to be changed. This game was awesome when it was in it's original form with just a few things of course to change. Especially those long ass wait times for a shuttle! lol
when i use to play it was good, then they put this big bullshit patch that made it more like world of warcraft but worse then it and i stopped playing it. you can't even get pets no more or have more then 1 proffesion and becoming a jedi became way to easy
it WAS a good game but sony ruined it in 2005 with the NGE, you can play pre-cu on an emulated server though, most of the classes are integrated, all you really have to put up with is lagspikes every now and then.
I joined the swg community after nge. So all I've seen is what's come after.
Seems to be that between crafting enhancements, craftable stat-clothes, pets, droids, heroic jewelry & villiage heroics that the game's better than pre-nge. Imho.
10 min shuttle waits sucked, but after the game i now realize at how truly immersive it was. how did you feel when that shuttle took off, WITHOUT YOU. now that i look back on it, i truly did like that game
It was fun & still is (imho). Though the game may not be too immersive. Playership seems to be dipping again. And there's crybabies gallore over the new Chronicler thing. So, like I said, once SWTOR comes out...
I agree. I'm extremely hyped for SWTOR, and I love BioWare and believe it's going to be a great game -- but I don't think it'll provide the experience SWG did.
Its a shame though, SWTOR will be more like WoW then galaxies. Not to say its a bad thing but galaxies was always successful due to its very unique style gameplay
Dude, I remember when this game came out. I got it and loved it so much. So many memories with this game. Joined a great guild then ended up making my own. Had guild hunts every week and what not. Had so many buddies that I talked to everyday and helped out. But when CU and NGE came out I never saw any of them online again.
Good video! 5/5! *This video makes me miss the old Star Wars Galaxies... I had a master jedi, an entertainer, and all 4 traders... All max levels... That makes three accounts. After the update someone hacked into my account and took everything... When I reported it to Station they didn't care and said they were too busy with WOWC... So as a warning to all you new players... Beware, don't count on Station to help you out, they don't care about the single person, only big numbers...
I never said that I left right when the NGE came out. I'm just saying that I miss the old SWG when everyone when people worked for what they wanted... When I was a member I always had people asking for things for free. And if they want to get money or raise levels they just go buy it from one of those sites.
My regular computer at home could never handle the game, even though I've had it for maybe a year or two since Christmas, so I'm hoping now with my laptop I can maybe play the game!

They balanced everything but made combat slow and cumbersome for all. They took 33 professions down to 8 with no multi-classing. They made crafting inferior to loot so craftsmen are only good at the highest level of skill. I used to play until the NGE ruined it also.
Ok, i didn't know anything about the NGE, i am so sad about it, of course if you can choose to be a jedi or anything else from the beginning . i'm sure 90% or more will choose to be jedi, i feel horrible because i have never played SWG, and now people say it's dead, all because of that stupid patch, wtf was thinking LucasArts when it reseted their 2 years old characters, that's so unfair. Hmm, New game enchaments or something. They changed the whole game to get more subscribers, at the same time they knew they would loose all 200k subscribers they had because they pretty much resetted their 2 year old characters.
I just returned, will play for a month and see how it is.
CU was the first big change to the game, it didn't have as big impact as NGE had but it was worse than before. So the era prior to CU is called Pre-CU.
SWGEmu is a Pre-CU server made by fans. So its free.
Anyway, the game wasn't the best anyhow, it did have many flaws. Its not dead even though people say so. (mostly old veterans)
There's less people playing than before though, try out the game and judge for yourself. Just remember to get in a guild.

Julio torres is the one responsible for the NGE change. hes also the reason that all lucasarts games suck nowadays, and yes he knows people want to shank him. Unfortunately hes got a ego bigger than the death star itself and would rather see SWG burn than admit he was wrong.

Wow. I miss this game. Especially when a good portion of my friends irl joined on and we were all part of a guild in Freehold on Naboo. This seriously was one of the best MMORPGs of all time and it blews WOW out of the water when it was in its prime. It had its own player-driven economy!! It was like living in the star wars universe.

Nge has gotten better to a lvl f playability still not as good as pre cu but still its pretty good. If anyone wants to play then play and you will have fun just not as much fun as in pre cu

CU was the first big change to the game, it didn't have as big impact as NGE had but it was worse than before. So the era prior to CU is called Pre-CU.
SWGEmu is a Pre-CU server made by fans. So its free.
Anyway, the game wasn't the best anyhow, it did have many flaws. Its not dead even though people say so. (mostly old veterans)
There's less people playing than before though, try out the game and judge for yourself. Just remember to get in a guild.

Julio torres is the one responsible for the NGE change. hes also the reason that all lucasarts games suck nowadays, and yes he knows people want to shank him. Unfortunately hes got a ego bigger than the death star itself and would rather see SWG burn than admit he was wrong.

SWG is an immense game, The things i like about it is the way you can form huge communities and Roleplay and even make your own cities :)
The bad things are the graphics aint the best and to be honest Combat is too basic for me.
I quit swg when i found world of warcraft but swg really got me into mmorpg's. Try it out. I'm getting cravings to play swg now... Damn you

Wow. I miss this game. Especially when a good portion of my friends irl joined on and we were all part of a guild in Freehold on Naboo. This seriously was one of the best MMORPGs of all time and it blews WOW out of the water when it was in its prime. It had its own player-driven economy!! It was like living in the star wars universe.

Nge has gotten better to a lvl f playability still not as good as pre cu but still its pretty good. If anyone wants to play then play and you will have fun just not as much fun as in pre cu

just a sout out, the nge is about 2 years over people and the old dev team is gone, the new one is really making it better. with stuff like instances, new jedi stuff, making the common man more of a threat to jedi,adding the old combat animations back.i still sa pvp is teh best cause on my server all the imperials have only 1-2 rows of buffs and the reb's ALWAYS have 3 rows and we smoke em anyways :D and if u left plz dont say OMG THEY RUINED IT JUST BECAUSE I DONT LIKE IT DOENST MEAN U WILL,thx

stfu, NGE is shit. sure it's slightly better than the shit it was 2 years ago, but it's still shit. there's no customisation for combat. it's turning into a low ranked guild wars. from 38 proffesions to combine and customise for an ultimate build, and with about 5x as many people play it atm, the game was fucking sex.

I was like OMG that guy did like 2 thousand holocrons to get that (figure of speech) and i saw like 10 throughout the whole game until the NGE came. Now you can choose one. haha This game really went far down :(. And it was the best game ever made too !

Its poop that this game isn't available in my country. Anyways... Playing and paying will make the game better not leaving it. Leaving something means you let it down to rot. If you wold play, and make big groups saying that they liked it better back then. They wold proly do that. But yall all do is whine about "omg they fucked up" instead of goin on their site and say "i love your works. But some changes are bullshit". I miss this game soooo much and watching this video reminds me of the good time when PreNGE PreCU, when player vehicles, player citys, large guilds were not around.
