Do any of you have a eating disorder, or are you just going by the movies? I have been an anorexic for 19 years, trying to keep a healthy weight. I was a teen when i started, substituted with vomiting some times, since i have a family to raise.It is an uphill battle, unless you've been there you'll never understand.For me those movies are therapy, not to get as bad as i had been at times, never want to be back in the hospital again. But this is no joke .

I am sick with this and it basically consists having all the symptoms of bulimia (binging and purging) but with failure to maintain or meet 85% of a minimum body weight for my height. why some people put on weight and some people lose weight with bulimia, I have no idea. I guess it all depends on the individual.

@Whitzerd no the reason bulimics tend to be normal weight or put on weight is because vomiting causes dehydration so that then body will hold onto all liquids a person drinks -> this causes water weight gain. Another reason is that some bulimics tend to eat normally in front of others so they won't lose any weight.

food porn is when anorexics and bulimics collect an obscene number of photos of food and recipes, for the anorexic it is to tempt themselves and to deny themselves to make them feel more powerful and in control and for the bulimic it is to fantise over food to binge on. Such hording of food pictures is considered a behaviour when in treatment so patients are not allowed to have such things. I had recipe books with photos in taken away from me when I went into treatment let alone a wall of pics

This was made in the 70s guys. Anorexia was a relatively newly diagnosed disease and so doctors didn't know a lot about it and clinics had different rules. They didn't know a lot of the tricks yet, which is probably why they didn't search rooms.
