  • When i took the back off, it took the r1 and l1 buttons off too, now they dont work :x how do you avoid ripping those 2 off?

  • great video

  • i just got my battery in today and once i installed it, the light went on. i turned off the ps3, then turned on the ps3 with the controller. i tested it out and it functions fine. then i turn the ps3 off again. minutes later, it won't turn back on. so i'm fiddling with it right now and it looks like i need to insert the batter into the connection a certain way. now sometimes it turns on, and sometimes it doesn't. anyone had this problem or have a solution? im tired of taking the controller apart

  • Thanks man... I'm going to make a ps3 gamer tag just got my ps3 160Gb for 249$ new at gamestop so stoked but now i lost my HDMI cable I THINK that is what it was... Ugh.. Badass I can have this as a wire controller makes me happy I hate wireless

  • I recommend you to do this as a LAST RESORT because it is very risky.

  • when do you change the batteries can you charge these remotes

  • @puunjabirockstar normally when the controller does not sync after a minute or so and constantly flashes then the red led light on the controller will just go off eventually it wont flash at all. But try this first open the controller and disconnect the battery then try chargeing it again. Also if you have not used the ps3 controller in a long time the battery my dis charge itself bit like a car if its not being used in a very long time. Also try and reset the controller.

  • omg this is not the right remote i have a 2 remotes one is this kind on the screen and the other controller is fatter than the regular remote, the fat controller is supposed to have batteries!!!!

  • Thank you for this! I didn't want to shell for a new controller.

  • my controller's been dead for the longest time. i plug the usb in, and it doesn't even light up any of the led indicators. i don't wanna waste $50 on a new controller! i just bought a battery from the link you put on the description. hopefully it works when i install the new battery with this youtube video.

  • I have a PS3 but never play it and over a year later I find the brand new condition battery to be completely dead unless plugged in, which sucks. I'm buying a new battery from eBay and hope to replace it@

  • Where Can I Get A New Battery PLzz REspond

  • @WESTJOKER509 On eBay they're just a few dollars. Search up 'ps3 controller battery' and search from the cheapest first and get that.

  • what kind of screw driver did u use?

  • well i change the battery and it still won't work

  • Very low hd but....I just got my ps3 so I don't care

  • the only time i need to screwdriver and my mum has to hide it away >.<!

  • @coolkennie mybe get yourself a tool box with a pad lock on it lol and hide the key haha can you imagine. Then you you probally loose the key yourself then

  • @finno123456 hmm yeh knowing me xD i think i would just hav like loads of tolls...no key :P

  • real gentle

  • How the hell did you just yank off the connector just like that?! I've been putting all of my strength into trying to remove the connector, and it won't budge at all! Any help please?!

  • my controller only flashing all numbers every 3 seconds and when i press ps button it blinks fast and goes back to ever 3 seconds

  • Hey my DS 3 controller is not working. lights on the controller does not show up when i connect it using Usb or when i press PS button.. Do you think thats because of dead battery??

  • @ebbys89 i would say its the battery did you try and reset the controller first. It might have dust inside the controller as nyrojas21 said and might need a clean.

  • @finno123456 Thanks for the reply. I will try

  • @daman5551212 rofl i was thinking the same thing.

  • @platanero174 thanks it worked :)

  • thx i got a gamingmodz controller and without this video i would never be able to replace the battery with a 45 hour one

  • Would the Six axis and the Dualshock3 have the same battery pack??.......... I'm asking because I have a semi-New dualshock with a horrid battery life (Even with the shock off!) and a sixaxis controller with damaged buttons. I want to change the battery from the sixaxis the dualshock..... Is that possible?

  • @bertdiaz35 iam nearly certain thay have the same battery check it out on ebay and see if the batterys are the same

  • hey my control wouldn't charge or turn on. i took it apart ,unhooked the battery and pulled the motherboard loose. their is a Lil strip with pins. looks like its coming off the ps3 button . i clean that and and where it comes in contact with the back of the motherboard .put battery back on , and it works now.

  • @nyrojas21 sometimes dust can cause the controller not to work properly a bit like the old video projectors my dad use to work on in pubs and clubs. The tubes use to get clogged with dust and did not work properly same with computers dust can be leathel in a home pc because it acts as a insulator. And causes the pc to run hot

  • why is the room so dark? It's not 'Special Ops: PS3 batt controller change edition'. It's almost like your out in a tent doing this. On a camping holiday changing batteries! It least it shows what to do, good job!!

  • how do you take out the battery

  • I just want to paint my controller :P

  • what screwdriver do i need to open them?

  • whats the name of the battery you replaced it with because i need one for my ps3 controller because more then likely the battery is cheaper then buying a new controller

  • where can you buy that ps3 battery im having the same problem i just need to know where i can buy one does anyone know?

  • OMFG I HATE sony putting it back together is so fucking hard

  • @Sauron767 you can not buy the battery in the shops but you can buy them on ebay ive added a link under show more

  • @finno123456

Oh yea I bought the battery on amazon last night and had it delievered next day fedex I didnt know it was such a bitch to put on, your vid was what I watched to take it off and now i'm having more issues, the left trigger was fine l1 would click when pressed but the right side wouldn't now it's vice versa, @ 3:50 and on thats where i get the trouble

  • What kind of battery are they usually called? I don't usually see those kinds of batteries in stores where I live...

  • The screws are a bitch 3 out of the 5 were loose but were stuck in lol made in china, a fucking japanese company paying chinese wow thats sad

  • @1:57 :D

  • @daman5551212 it may look like i tear the controller but my fingers slipped thats all belive me bruit force is not the way to go on this controller.

  • THANKS YOU SAVE MY LIFE

  • @sk8ertc

Yea I'm about to save 60 bucks thanks to this dude. People like him need to be around more

  • @BigCityGangsta Its depends on how wet you got the controller you may have to take it apart and give the board and clean in side it. It might still work but becarefull when drying it that you use cold air on a hairdryer to dry it

  • 1:57 scared the shit out of me

  • guys and gals, which way to you unscrew the screw, anti-clockwise or clockwise????

been trying for ages to do it but cant!! FYI, first time using a screwdriver! :)

  • @theblockificatioable clockwise to tighten anti clockwise to loosen

  • @finno123456

It's really nice to see somebody has a HUGE amount of patience and good mechanical skills to play with something so "corporately challenging" sony is more about consumers throwing away product aimlessly rather than let their consumers save their money and fix it themselves..."we don't want you to save money we WANT your money" Sony= great game system company but gluttonously want your money

  • @theblockificatioable

    leftie looseie

    rightie tightie......

  • @theblockificatioable `remember righty- tighty and lefty- lossie

  • @theblockificatioable just remember rightzy tigthzy lefty losey... lol

  • @theblockificatioable lefty loosy righty tighty

  • I cant pull out the old battery!! its in so tight!? are u meant to push the sides of the little white thing to release it?

  • @xIAMDAVEx

never mind, a lot of brute force and wiggling did the trick

  • Cool this is gonna save me major cash. WOW!!!!

  • @MPATRICK310 if you get stuck on the controller send me a message but just follow the vid closely pause it if you have to. My controller is still working after the new battery in it bee 2years now just look for a good battery for it on ebay. A person with a good feedback and has sold loads with no problems

  • sony made this controller to make me the most angry fucking furious person in the whole world ,i repair laptops but could i get this controller back together without problem ? grrrr TIP - the two small brackets in between the shoulder buttons ,make sure they are as level as possible before putting the back casing on ,the brackets sit on ok but they need to be moved down as much as they can go otherwise they can come back off when you put th case on.

  • Thanks! This was really helpful.

FYI my ebay replacement battery was a larger size then the one that came with my old 40 gig PS3, but removing the battery caddy made it fit.

  • Where did you get the new replacement battery? And do they sell them in stores?

  • @Kaoz606 I bought mine on ebay for $5 i dont think you can buy the batterys in the shops

  • Umm first my controller started disconnecting from my PS3 when I was playing a game, and it still showed a 1 player light for around ten seconds, then turned off, and when I plugged it in it worked but right when I take it off it blinked, connected, then turned off. Now even if I plug it in the USB cable it still does not work. Anyone please help me?

  • how can i add extra battre to my turbo controler, my controler eating battre. i have to charge my battre everyday but im not playing with it more than 4 hours.

  • Thanks a lot for saving my no-life! ;-)

  • Thank you for this tut thanks to you i now have a working controller and didnt waste 50 on a new one! Thanks again!

  • @skater3200 No problem

  • @finno123456 if you replace the sixaxis battery with a dualshock 3 battery, will the control vibrate?

  • Well got to say thanks for the vid. It turned out great, but I will say one thing: getting that damn back cover back on was a BITCH!! >_<

First off it was pain in the ass to get pried open but let me tell ya' it was nothing 'gentle' about that, lol. As for the battery brace I actually had 2 but I suppose that could have been due to variation of manufacturing--since my controller is a J-imported ceramic white (it came w/ my system of the same kind). Other than that it was pretty much the same.

  • how much are the batteries

  • @TheGdawg21 not too much. I got mines off ebay for $4.50

  • @GanjaQueen82 kool

  • why the hell did they make it so difficuly to do? I couldn't find any screwdriver that would fit (either too big or too small) and ofcourse the battery isn't exactly easy to get ahold of.

  • Hey i need help half of my controller works but the other half doesn't work. What do i do?

  • Sony's shit is built not to come back open the psp battery was hard enough to open without losing a finger

  • how do you take the battery out without breaking it ?

  • thank you

  • mines just wont come on

  • this makes me not wanna buy a ps3 :(

  • controller doesn't feel the same after you open it

  • gently open the top...... SNAP jk

  • ps3's are a piece of shits mine always break

  • where do you find a new battery?

  • @cobi1719 you can buy one on ebay or you can try gamestop

  • @finno123456 how mutch are they?

  • @fordhonda230 you can buy them on ebay for about $5 free shipping from china

  • where can i buy the battery locally

  • Hey hows the life of the battery...I opened my controller for cleaning and now it doesn't turn on...and I bought my PS3 in February...and where can I buy a new battery and how much does it cost..???

  • dude wenever i turn on my ps3 i press the ps button and no red lights show up and blink off and on i keep on trying to plug it in to my ps3 usb thing it still dosent turn on to charge it so it cant charge if it cant turn on will this method on the video help plz reply i need help!!!!???!!!???

  • blackzip661 It sounds like the battery is dead my psp controller in the video here did the same thing. Your battery has discharged its self and wont charge a new battery should solve the problem. You can buy one on ebay or check in games stop i dont know if thay are doing them in games stop put you can give it a shot. Or go on ebay thats were i got mine. Be very carefull when buying on ebay check there feedback status. And be carefull when opening the controller there are fragille parts inside

  • @blackzip661 try to reset it

  • very nice mod too, the 1800mah battery is $4.00 on ebay , that's about 50 cents for each extra hour of battery life you get. totally worth the price.

  • my ps3 controller keeps on dying and i saw the battery cradle fall out so should i get a new battery and frmo where

  • Is it only lasting about 5 minutes after recharge. Did you try to reset the controller. You can try ebay thats were i got mine same voltage higher mah for longer game play. Ebay would be cheeper than the shops dont even know if thay sell them in the shops

  • ya i reset it like 5 times and it still dies like 5 mins later

  • Its your battery mine did the samething recharged it and would only last 5 minutes. The battery is not holdong the charge. A new battery should solve the problem

  • hope so... thx for the help and vid

  • The light was on. I had the light on the camcorder on so you can see it better so it would highlight the parts better. I use a energy bulb thay dont get as bright as incandecent bulbs

  • where do you get the right sized scewdriver bacause i just bought one and it does no fit its too small. Reply someone!!!!!

  • Why dont you bring the controller with you and try the next size up. Normally if the screw driver is to small it will slip on the screw head dont keep trying it. You may damage the screw head and wont be able to get it off at all. Iam not to shore which size mine is its not written on it. If its the right size you feel a bit of pressure when unscrewing the screw

  • @killerguy1234567 lol that's what she said. Try taking your controller to the store you bought your screwdriver from, ask for employee assistance for the right size if you haven't done so already.

  • I have a vibrating sixaxis controller and some littl piece fell out the controller works without it... exept i can't use more than 1 button at once now.... help

  • What does the piece look like

  • does any1 know any store that sells the batteries

  • you are very lezy:)

  • So will this fix a controller if the battery is completely dead and won't even charge?

  • Yes it will definately get the controller back to working order again. My controller went dead & wouldnet charge . I replaced the battery and it worked fine ever since. Sony try to make you buy another controller when the battery has gone. You think my controller is broken i will have to buy another one. Controllers can be expensive to buy. Why fork out €30 or more for another when you can buy just the battery for around $5 on ebay

  • Ok thanks! I just ordered an 1800 Mah battery for my controller. Only $5.09. I never noticed how boring my life was until I got my Ps3. Lol.

  • How did you get on with the new battery

  • Oh, for about the first month after I replaced the battery, it didnt work. But in the past few weeks, the controller has gradually started working. Gaining a longer battery life each time I charge it.

  • You should really charge the battery as soon as you get it. I bought to weii controller charging docks with reacharable batterys. And it said charge for about 12hrs first depending on the battery. It has a big role play in the battery life. But as long as it works everyones happy. Why pay for another controller when you can buy a battery for $5 insted of paying probally $30

  • I did charge it, it was just kinda a wierd thing. But yeah, I saved pretty much a brand new game by buying a battery. A new controller is almost $60. Its insane.

  • @Tr1xR4k1dz13 Yeeeah, I'm a little on the slow side....not to mention impatient, so I actually got a new controller, but saved all of the guts to my old controller, so hopefully I will have 2 working controllers when this whole thing is over with.

it is really crappy of sony to not have an external battery..............the one thing xbox did right.

  • @DeathAdder83 Yeah I also bought a new controller. I personally like the internal battery in the controllers. I bought my Ps3 from a friend and the battery lasted him a good 3 years. You will probably spend more money on batteries for your Xbox controller, rather than buying a brand new controller every 3 1/2 years.

  • @Tr1xR4k1dz13 Just use rechargeable batteries. This worried me about the PS3 so I'm glad it is possible to replace the battery with a little extra work. I hate sealed in batteries.

  • @donncha2001 I WAS using rechargeable batteries. You must note that even rechargeable batteries don't last forever.

  • does it only works on sixaxes controllers?

  • Its depends on the controller what controller are you planning to put it into. Generally you just match it with the existing one and note the numbers on it

  • ive got a speedlink strike3, does it work on this one?

  • yup

  • Does it HAVE to be 1800 MAH? Are the batteries expensive? Thanks.

  • No not really the mah is how many cells are in the battery the higher the mah the longer hours of game play you wil have. However the battery has to be the same voltage as the original battery get a higer volt one it will blow the commponants in your controller. You can buy a battery on ebay for about $5 works out about €3 free p&p

  • ah okay, so get one that has the same voltage, just a higher mah (if i really want). thanks

  • Must take a really long time to charge it completely. :\

  • Yeh it takes a bit longer but the length of game play you get out of it is brilliant. I have a 6ft usb cable so while its charging i still play a game at the same time then when charged i just disconect it from the controller and leave the cable plugged in. The old battery was enoying you had to keep waiting all the time for it to charge. And plus the original batterys life does not live that long

  • Swi2ler

Another thing you can try i forgot to tell u is that u can try to reset the controller it might help

  • already tried that but thanks anyway

  • i need a new battery cause my controller wont even turn on.

  • Hi swi2ler i bought mine on ebay but be carefull about the seller always check his feedback. Because some people sell dud batterys or batterys that can over charge and blow up. I will try and find the seller who i bought mine off. And will paste the link under (more info) my battery is fine and has been going fine ever since

  • thanks, but does it have to be an official one?

  • The one i bought is not a official one i dont know if sony even make the 1800Mah ones. Not to shore but i would say thay would be cheap if thay did. I bought mine for about $5 free shipping from china. But as i said be carefull on what u buy on ebay i got stung many times

  • got it

  • thanx a lot man .. that was really hepfull :)))

  • you can buy any 610-1800mAh batteries off ebay for under $10

  • where can you get a new battery and for how much

  • i tink i jus tried 2 hard when tryin 2 unscrew them...i got most all dem off but one..ah il figure it anyways cheers

  • any chance u can help me out..when i try 2 take de screws out of de controller dey wont come out..i got 4 out but not de last one..so fuckin annoyin and all de buttons are bolloxed now..any advice haha

  • Is the head on the screw rung try using a small flat head screw driver. Also what buttons did you damage are thay broke or just come out. You did not try and open the controller with the screw still on the controller. I got mine out handy enough
