  • Amazing!

  • The counselor on a deaf community Deafornot dot c om said that "People who may be defined as clinically deaf (unable to hear spoken language) may or may not be members of the Deaf community."

  • Great dancer, I appreciate her show because I dance also and I am a competitor judge. She is one of a kind, it is not easy o perform such moves. She is a great dancer. I would love to meet her. I copied this video and I should watch it more often to learn her techniques.

  • @karmlan123 Way to prove a point.. I don't know anything about Falun Dafa. I've never heard of it before. But golly gee, your eloquence and articulation in pointing out its faults have made me vow to crusade against it.

    And BTW, that was sarcasm.

  • WOW WONDERFULL

  • Beautiful !!!!

  • @bigfathippo53,. FREE YOUR BACKSIDE!!

  • 2:03-2:09- popping and locking in a ballet show!

  • she is amazing !!!!!!!!!!!

  • hers looks too soft next to yang liping's

    its still okayy

  • Excellent! I tried the finger movements, but I'm double jointed so my finger joints keep locking and it looked weird =)

Her ticking and strobing is very "bird-like" and intricate. Good job <3

  • amazing..beyond any word of praise!!!

  • Fantastic!

  • beautiful...

  • What a talented lady!

  • i remebered doing this dance too but she is soooo much better than me :O

  • beautiful and graceful dancer with incredible hand and arm control to portray the peacock...

  • my god... how flexible u have to be to perform this dance?!ˉthis reminds me of an air condition commercial in Taiwan 20 years ago...

  • The lady who fronted the incredible thousand hands dance, it is hard wether to like her or Yang Liping for this dance more but I think i go more toward Liping for this dance? This lady will always be the Queen of the thousand hands though. Both are equisite dancers.

  • My eyes have been blessed : ), as a synaesthete, i hear with my eyes and see with my ears, once thought to be a disability, as an adult i now work in the labelled profession of full stream disabilities however i only recognise ability and this wonderous video speaks loudly to that testament. TY4U & Posting "Each One Teach One" 11Tigeress11 ~ Blessed Be

  • Absolutely brillant interpretation, thank you for for sharing this super video

  • Sublime, j'ai jamais vu un tel spectacle!! quel talent, souplesse de la part de cette danseuse, que d'heures de travail et pour un résultat plus que merveilleux!! C'est vraiment sublime, d'une grande beauté!! BRAVO !!

    thank you very much

    Claire

  • She is actually a deaf lady.

    She is really a miracle.

  • darn that was brilliant

  • wow her hand movements are amazing....

  • @SmilyK I agreed...

  • i agree

  • Gosh, you just have to be so literal. XD It's a dance, just enjoy it.

  • So when anyone performs, that person has to be his/her inherent gender? even in movies, plays, etc.?

  • excellent..thats the word to describe her performance

  • graceful and talented...beautiful...

  • i've watched her performance during my visits to yunnan last year.. it was amazing !!

  • wow she is cool and very talents....

  • wow! her hand

  • Wow... her performance was awe inspiring...! Her graceful and breezy movements were exquisite. I wonder how she relate her moves to the music, She is deaf, was there a cue from somewhere ? If there was, it was not noticeable. She really danced with full compassion and I am very pleased to have watched it. Thanks noteach for sharing.

  • OMG,,, love her performance, her moves, her hands, sooo cool!

  • Wonderful music and dance! Well done! 5 stars from me.

  • This is a lovely, exquisite dance made all the more incredible by the dancer herself. I think this goes a long way in showing that being deaf doesn't have to be considered a handicap.

  • Oh I wanted to ask/add:

Is there a translation for the woman speaking/signing at the beginning?

  • awesome! it makes me want to cry!

  • A lot of deaf like to call themselves, "hearing-impaired". I prefer to be called "deaf". My signs aren't that great, and I lip-read very well, and am very very chatty, although am not always easily understood. I took many years of ballet and all forms of dance, and really appreciate the dance videos here. I consider all of these dancers highly trained, and so obviously doing what they love to do. It's such a pleasure to watch. Thank you to all who made this possible.

  • This isn't her dance though..Yang Liping choreographed this years ago and won a prestigious competition with it and has been dancing it since.

  • Interaction Woman remarked that it was a "strange choice" for a woman to dance as the spirit of a peacock which is a male bird. It is not at all a strange choice; in fact, it is perfect. According to native lore, the female is the spirit and the male is the form that the spirit takes. Thus, the spirit of the male is the female, appropriately described in the title of this dance: The Spirit of the Peacock.

  • A great performance of course, but what a strange choice for a female to dance as the spirit of a peacock which is a male bird. The peahen would be the female and they are quite plain and brown and not at all flamboyant like the males. That wouldn't make for a very interesting dance obviously, but still a strange choice I think.

  • This is by far, one of the most amazing dances I have ever seen! She is amazing in herself and for her to perform such a dance is absolutely breath taking!

  • Beautiful girl with amazing talent.

  • Thank you for sharing Mia!

As a deaf dancer, she has to overcome so many obstacles. She's amazing !

Thank you noteach for this inspiring video too!

  • The sheer beauty of Tai Lihua, combined with her graceful and elegant motions as she dances is truly magical. She is an artist in the truest sense of the word.

  • Amazing!!!

  • Beautiful! <3

  • Beautiful dance, but need to change the spelling---not peacoak but PEACOCK

  • I think she did a beautiful job. But Deaf Mute is very insulting.. I know that for a fact because I am deaf myself... You should remove Deaf Mute from this because it is offensive to the deaf community. Just simply say "Deaf Dancer" thats it... No need to put mute in it.

  • Thanks your reminder.

    I already made amendment accordingly.

  • @noteach When I saw the "mute" part, it made me SAD because, it's Oct. 29, 2010 & it still says deaf "mute" in the beginiing somewhere, I'm sure of this unless someone copied & reposted it as "Deaf, mute"...

    Shelly

  • @deafroses

    No need to be offended

Mute simply means lacking the ability to speak

Deafness and muteness are not mutually inclusive

  • @deafroses They have to indicate the word mute because there are some deaf that can speak also. Those dancers are deaf and mutes.

I don’t think it is insulting anyone. I know a beautiful deaf girl that read lips and can speak English fluently with others. I use to dance with her perfectly, she doesn’t hear anything at all but she feels the vibration of the music and the beats.

    Thanks for the comment

  • @saraa49 I understand that..i agree with deafroses...

  • @deafroses I have a blind friend. I know what you mean, it's not like people asked to be insulted. They are just normal people, so are you.

  • @deafroses

I don't see how "Deaf Mute" would be insulting to the deaf community. The woman is deaf, and a mute. The "Mute" part lets us know that she, unlike other deaf people, was not able to learn to speak or went deaf before she could learn how to speak. There is nothing even remotely un-PC about that.

  • @deafroses Why is "deaf mute" insulting? Not all who are deaf are mute, and not all who are mute are deaf; some people, though, are both. So saying deaf mute is just being descriptive, isn't it?

  • she is beyond these so call break dancer from america, man she is awsome...

  • Wow! And she's deaf?! Incredible!

  • she's absolutely amazing! such peacefull and sensitive dance. She is really gifted. And you can see that her world is dance and nothing else matters beside it.

  • for all those who are doubting her. Tai Li Hua is deaf. She became deaf at avery young age, but loved to dance. Ever watch Thousand Hand Buddha? She is the front dancer. all the dancers in thousand hand buddha are deaf. i recommend watching it. its beautiful. i was lucky enough to learn the dance.

  • her dance style is similar to Yang liping. is she really deaf? though i like yang liping's dance alittle more...tai li hua is still amazing too!

  • Yes, she is really deaf. Think of this, she is even more amazing!

  • Nice.

  • 我喜欢这个孔雀舞蹈, 美丽的....我喜欢穿着, 它非常漂亮. 喜也很好的舞蹈!!

  • beautiful.

  • lol.You never foget you are a handsome boy.

  • 呵呵,我是说嫉妒。

  • Thanks Anotherzly, for sharing this Video with me^-^ The Lady is such kind of the Chinese Dancer which i really enjoy! Relaxing Music and Performance.

  • this realy is a very good dancer, but I realy liked the music, does anybody know how its called?

  • It is precisely The spirit of the peacock.

  • Amazing!

  • I think she's better than Yang liping when it comes hand/arm movements...

    so mesmerizing...

  • yup i agree but yang liping has better body..both are good.

  • @kiss18sx but yan liping is not deaf so she should be way better than this lady but she is not this lady is amasing

  • wow..her hands are so flexible and so smooth fast moving. And she is pretty, too.

  • @chanllege this lady has a better face than yan liping

  • She is beautiful, extremely gifted, and her story is very moving. Google "Dancing in Silence" it should come up.

  • fantastic!!

  • Wow, I love wht she does with her body with this dance and no I`m not a lez or a perv. I can also see that she takes this dance with passion wich makes the dance even more butiful.

  • Wow!.Beautiful.

    A diamond from China.

    Fantastic..Dave8D

  • ABSOLUTELY DIVINE!!!!!!!

  • that is not yang liping, its an imitation of yang liping's peacock dance

  • See the description of this video. This is Tai Li Hua, the lead deaf-mute dancer in the thousand-hand Guanyin dance. Yang Liping trained her personally on this dance though.

  • Please do not use antiquated tems like deaf-mute which are offensive to deaf people. Some deaf people speak through sign language.

  • it says deaf-mute in the description of the video?????? I don't think sign language has anything to do with it.

  • I was responding to the use of "deaf-mute" in the description and by one of the responders. The dancer was described as "deaf-mute". This is an antiquated term. The dancer and dance are beautiful - see the other clips of the dancers - a wonderful group who are all deaf or hard of hearing!

  • okay, what do you suggest then? deaf-mute sounds just fine to me. I don't think anyone is trying to be disrespectful. My deaf friend calls heself "deaf", I don't know about the mute thing, at least it doesn't say "dumb"

  • Yes, deaf people refer to themselves now as just deaf - didn't mean this to be a big thing - it is about an old-fashioned stereotyping. Many deaf can use their voices, some choose to speak in sign language exclusively. Deaf and dumb means the same thing - dumb (meaning mute). If you have a deaf friend, ask her to explain.

  • I am not living in the smae city as my deaf friend right now, so let me just get this straight with you, I want to understand. Is it just that the term deaf by itself is "correct" and the whole mute/dumb thing should just be left off because of the fact that deaf people communicate either verbally or with sign language and that sort of trumps the dumb/mute part of the description?

  • @unit45x the word mute sounds disrespectful this lady is one very talented lady and she is very good looking

  • Deaf people communicate through sign language. The word mute signifies that one does not have the power of speech. Deaf only refers to not having the ability to hear. Some people can speak but not hear while others can hear but not speak and others have both problems. It is a way of differentiating. I don't believe any offense was meant by it. And as far as antiquated language. I believe the antiquated term is "dumb".

  • Are you speaking from your experience as a deaf person or one involved daily with deaf people and their culture? Just saying deaf peole never refer to themselves as deaf-mute. Only hearing people would still make such an unecessarry and outdated reference. It was just a comment. It has led to some interesting response. The preferred, most current way to describe someone with a hearing loss in today's society is as "deaf" or "hard of hearing". Feel free to pass it on.:)

  • I have actually had close interaction in the past with people who are deaf. I also took asl as a language in HS. I recently finished a class in special education and was not told of the preferred terminology. I will definitely tell my teacher as a major part of the course is learning to speak about persons with disabilities. Thanks

  • I agree. You said it perfectly!

  • Utterly enchanting! A most beautiful art form. Thank you for posting it.

  • very beautiful dance unique!

  • She looks like the main in thousand hand buddha...

  • no,that girl name Tai lihua.this is Yang liping.杨丽萍

  • SHE IS ,NEME IS TAILIHUA。

  • Thank you for expanding my definition of "dance". That was a beautiful interpretation of perception and mood.
