  • 教鞭なベースはセシル・マクビーか!アート・ペッパーのアドリブ真価を哲学できる"虹の彼方に"での究極アルト~ピアノのカウエルも美しい #jazzm

  • Album of the same name

  • 天才アドリブ芸術を知らしめる、アート・ペッパーの"虹の彼方に"~溢れ出るアルト・メロの放出!~ピアノはカウエルかな? #jazzm ただ放心!

  • Had honor of playing with Art back in the late '70's. he was one of the guests at our local Jazz Fest. Amazing man

  • One of the nicest of Art. This is a great cut.

  • This was on his "Landscape" record...doesn't get any better than this.

  • @bluen0te Landscape has a live rendition, much in the same mood. The correct answer is Ballad By Four, then included in The Complete Galaxy Recordings, along with other versions and takes.

  • in a weird way you can hear the hurt that art suffered in his turbulant life in most of his playing and certainly on this track he was a fabulous player with soul when he played he always meant it R.I.P

  • One of Art Peppers' mellifluous best. Never fails to transport me onto cloud nine. Divine !.

  • Here's my namesake playing a great song! I did a "smooth jazz" version that you can find on my CD entitled, "Decades Past" by Pepper Williams

  • Yes wright, Cecil McBee on bass, Roy Haynes on drums. Art was a giant but his life

was full of sorrow and mistakes. God will bless him.

  • does someone know who the the rest of the musicians in the band are? particularly the bass player? great post no one quite like art pepper

  • @mpcguy This is from the album 'Ballads for Four' (Galaxy): Art Pepper-alto sax; Stanley Cowell - piano; Cecil McBee-bass; Roy Haynes-drums. Recorded in December 1978, and is part of the same session that produced the album 'Art Pepper Today' (Galaxy). 'Ballads for Four' includes four tracks by four saxophonists: Art Pepper; John Klemmer; Johnny Griffin; Joe Henderson. With Roy Haynes on drums, Stanley Cowell on piano, and either Cecil McBee, or John Heard on bass.

  • Just beautiful

  • This was a beautiful take on this song. I just now heard it after listening to jazz all my life. What ultimate mastery. He lives forever on this recording.

  • is this right name on the track? i can't find this song!

  • Yep Somewhere Over the Rainbow, this is it

  • @JROB1989 The correct title is "Over the Rainbow". Leave out "Somewhere."

  • @lesterwyoung Who cares?

  • @JROB1989 Obviously undagroundsoljah did because he asked if this was the right name on the track and added the comment "I can't find this song!"

  • @lesterwyoung That's his problem

  • @undagroundsoljah

It's somewhere over the rainbow. It was originally on the ballads by four album (ballads by 5 cd). Great album.

  • hi there, great playing. Truly inspirational, what album is this off? thnks

  • I'm not sure, I got if off of a greatest hits album

  • this was on the 'Landscape' record.

  • art is my one of my favorites. he puts it all on the line everytime. if your not scared you're not really saying anything.

  • Great this tune has such melancholy in any shape or form, its that reaching feeling in the gut, that lost thing you never found and don;t really even know what it is anymore feeling....

  • That's the one we're looking for .... beauty.

  • Perfectly said

  • I study jazz at music college and even as a vocalist, art influences me so much. His musicality, emotion, story, motivic development in a solo, and so the list goes on are second to none.

I gotta hand it to this great, never a better note was executed than that out of Art´s alto.

  • He was truly wonderful

  • !!Cool!!!!

  • man I been waiting for someone to post this. thanks so much. a great Harold Arlen tune played by an icon...

  • Ya it's a great tune
