I think this is a great flyer, but I need more room, to put FPV gear till you get your back pack going! is there a good airplane out there that will give me the room with out killing me in cost?
These are also a great plane to trim the wings and put on wingtip droops- we put the droops from a Hawkfighter on one, and it does tight aerobatics setup like that- Just make some droops out of thin plastic (like Formica laminate) and hot glue them on after you trim the wings down to the flat part- you'll love the results! This plane also benefits from some carbon fiber rods in the nose, since the foam there is very thin and weak. Balances better with a 2200, too.
Take the cover off or on hot days the ESC will overheat and shut down. Also, if you’re going to put on a bigger prop re-enforce the plastic mount or it will tear itself from the foam; ask me how I figured that one out. Despite the cheapy electronics this is my favorite plane on Hobby King’s site. Fast and responsive when you want it to be fast and responsive, slow and docile when you want it to be slow and docile and a modder's wet dream.
Everyone of these I've seen at our field has had the magnets in the motor come loose. Just make sure you check them and re-glue if you need to. Other than that one of the best trainers there is.
Hey there, great work as always :-) In you opinion, wich one would you say is the better FPV platform (Stability, payload capacity and weight, etc...)? The AXN floater, HK FPV plane, or other.. Thanks in advance :-)
@Skydive4ever The AXN Floater doesn't have much room inside but it does fly better than the HK FPV. However, if FPV is your bag then the Skywalker Ver 3 might be better than either of these. I plan to review the Skywalker on my RCModelReviews channel as soon as I can afford one.
@Skydive4ever Skywalker, hands down...you can fit at least 2 full sized soda cans (355ml) in the fuse maybe 3! It will fly well up to and beyond 4lbs. (1800g) and the polyhedral wing is EXTREMELY stable. HK FPV gets generally poor reviews of flight characteristics although it has some nice interior room and the AXN just doesn't have even 25% of the interior volume and my guess is that it can't lift NEARLY as much weight. Also, the Skywalker has built in spots for VidTX and GPS. No brainer...
@Skydive4ever I've been flying one of these FPV for about 6 months and I'm very happy with it. Bruce is right about the limited room inside - I've made a hatch in the base to fit in the extra gear. It still flies well with a Sony CCD video camera and a Gopro HD camera mounted. See also vimeo dot com slash zl2fpv
@Skydive4ever i think this or a multiplex easy star is a good fpv plane as long as you can keep you stuff small and light weight..but this is just my opinion
They are very tough. diving mine into the runway vertically just compressed the nose a bit. I had to fly it full throttle into a hanger to actually destroy the fuselage.Made a bigger bang than the tower and where was xjet and the cam when he was needed.
Hey guys! I learned on the dynam HawkSky which is VERY similar to the "floater". After flying for a bit I got one of my spare mixes setup to add up elevator incrementally as the throttle is advanced. I don't know if it was worth all the trial and error as the "thrust line problems" were easy to counteract manually and as the battery loses voltage the amount of up elevator needed is lessened. Another thought would be to add a gyro on the pitch but like I said, it's not all that necessary.
@catamaranman333 Yeah could add a hk gyro to the elevator if you wanted to but is fairly easy to push in a bit of down . I did mix 40% rudder with aileron to help in the turns like Ron and Brent did with their ones .

A blue airplane is suitable at the season.
I also bought it.
But Japan enters the season of rainy season now, and rain continues.
Because I want to fly even at once, it is regrettable.
