I was in Derry this past week. I am an American citizen but I was amazed. the Apprentice Boys were setting up to celebrate the liberation of their people. They erected a bonfire 50 feet high using hundreds of pallets. There were about 40 Irish flags stapled to the pallets!

I am American and there are shameful things that have happened in our short history, but I think if you look objectively at Britains history, worldwide, it is littered with victories via shameful actions and abuse.

I'm not that fond of anyone in the UK government atm, but Sinn Fein MLAs and MPs (even though they shouldn't be - they don't sit in parliament but get the expenses...) are convicted terrorists that spent time in jail for ruining innocent people's lives, and the loyalist paramilitaries are the same as well, so I'm not completely biased. :)

Guildford pub bombing 1974, 5 dead? La Mon Restaurant bombing 1978, 12 dead? Warrenpoint 1979, 18 dead? The IRA killed 1800 civilians, not all of those listed in the cases above are civilian deaths, e.g. Warrenpoint, but it illustrates how cowardly the IRA were.

The IRA killed more civilians than security forces(many of whom were off duty at the time) so they are hardly any good, they are terrorists and cowardly.
