@SE7SDJ Labradors are adaptable to almost any environment as long as you can give them a good walk and a free romp in the field somewhere. So yes you can keep a Labrador in an apartment as long as you can keep up with there needs. Hope this helps

lol, i have a labrador just like you golden/ brownish one. i love him but he is very naughty! he gets out of the garden through the hedge and he likes to hump people, but only when he gets real exited. i dont want him to get nudered though. i think it adds to his personality. any advice to stop him from humping?

@daevildude45 Take him for walks to burn some energy. If you have a dog park take him there to run around with other dogs.

Socialise your dog so take him on walks where people are and if he tries to hump them then turn around and walk away, if he walks past people without trying to hump then give him a treat and positive words to tell him he's done the right thing. Do this a lot and he will get the message.

If your not going to breed him then get him neutered, your just frustrating him otherwise

My god , the first time you see them like this they're so small , in a few days they're already gona look like they're bigger.

Thats how it was whit me when I got my lab , she was soo cute the first day , next day when I took her out all the time I started to be blind by her samll size , but now when I look at pictures of here , I still can't belive how small she was <3

wow what a stupid argument re: pit bulls. You NEVER hear of a lab attacking a child or eating the neighbor's cat. It's wired-in at birth just like a beagle's hunting instinct or a bloodhound's sense of smell. Every dog owner who had a pit-bull go sideways always says the same thing, "He was the sweetest dog around me". It's much more nature than nurture.

Tyler5799- ummm... My best friend has a pit bull and she's not aggresive at all. She loves people. They weren't bred to be mean, it's the people who teach them those bad habits. It's like a little kid- They don't know how to hate other people... It's the people and parents around them that show and teach them such things. Don't go around assuming things unless you know your facts or have the breed yourself!!!

@HGdoglover In Tyler's defence, agree that not all pit bulls are aggressive but their temperament isn't the best either. A number of countries have now banned this breed plus a few others due to this bad temperament, but as I said before you should be careful around all dogs as you never know.

I've personally never met any Pit Bulls that aren't sweet and friendly, but that's because the owners didn't abuse their animals.

@arzasa Don't you mean the temperament of the terriers? We all should distinguish breed characteristics accordingly, to be fair. I'd never let any children around any of my animals without monitoring the behavior of the children AND the animals. You don't tempt Instinct nor do you want to tempt Fate! The nastiest little critters I ever met were a Manchester terrier and a Chihuahua and a few Airedales I wouldn't start a fight with LOL

@spotbelly I agree that in the end, you have to supervise kids around animals. And then if getting any animal to have at home read up on them and what they are like. We did our research and although we liked some other breeds of dogs in the end the Labrador/Golden retrievers came out as the best family dogs around, there were a few others that were close but these came out on top and the reason they are the most popular breed I guess. I think next time we will get a Great Dane.

My mother's cousin had the loveliest pit bull in the world, he loved everyone and his owner would have died for him, he loved him that much!

But one day, the pit bull just turned on his 4 year old niece and killed her...

I have never in my life stereotypical a breed, I thought pit bulls weren't like that.... but it just goes to show that it's not always the owner.

@kyboy13 Fetch is always good, after all the are retrievers still. Also, hid some dry food around your yard or home, show them the first few pieces and give them a word for this like FIND and soon they will learn when you say that they can go and find treats.

They like to learn and like food so easy to teach them so just teach them different commands and treat them when they do it right, win for them and you. :)

@kyboy13 Lots of mental stimulation. My adult lab has lots of chew toys+soft teddy bears and she has a kong which is where you put food in it and she has to roll it around for it to come out...good for her keeping her occupied when we leave the house. Fetching things is good for them..altho mine doesn't like that.Get training her early as they're clever dogs so will pick it up easy, work on the sit, stay and come first-good when walking her later. ENJOY YOUR NEW PUPPY :-D

@kyboy13 Hope you got your dog ok. They are very smart and loyal and really like to learn new things so just keep some treats or a ball around and use them as a reward when they do what you ask of them.

We have a black board in the house and we have written all the commands we use so that we all use the same one so the dog doesn't get confused. Good luck and have fun!
