Good to see this is still up mind, loving it!

  • Rhodesia was Great!!!!

  • I was back in Zimbabwe for a month in Sept. Beautiful country. Wonderful people.

  • @VagabondShoes Yes we are, thank you

  • lol....JONGWE

  • The words and music are by Myles Hunter, written while on tour as lead singer of Refugee, (fully accreditted by Cockcroft on his 'Bits and Pieces' C.D.). Myles returned to his theology studies and is now an Anglican Priest ln Canada, after graduating from the University of Toronto, Canada. Wrote for and 'covered' by other artists. You will find he was released with several groups. Look for "Michael Fury"; "Myles Hunter"; "Refugee"; "Space Rangers" videos; "You Tube" etc. on computer.

  • first: yes British people did takeover our country but in doing so they made it better. I don't remember none of this shit happening when the Brits were in control.

second: I was born in zim (im 15) and i live with my moms and sister and step-dad in this country, so i'm proud to say i'm British-Zimbabwean.

third: It doesn't matter what colour you are, if you are zimbabwean, you are zimbabwean. whites & asians can also be zimbabweans.

now click thumbs up if you agree with me.

  • Get out of there dude SA is right next door

  • naa wen i sed i live in this country i meant England.

i live in South London right now

  • @londonarmy well said my zimbabwean brothr/sistr.r u sure u`r only 15.......

  • @londonarmy Ultimately though while you can argue they managed the nation better than Mugabe the Ian Smith goverment are really responsable for him being there. By refusing to work with the moderate Black leaders towards a representitive system of goverment they ensured that the extremist nutjobs ended up in control.

  • @moreorless87 what about the internal settlement then? And the black majority of Muzerowa damned by the UN?

Excellent video though and a beautiful country.

  • @redhammer - you're a fucking twat. I think that just about sums it up.

woops, no wait, i forgot - you and your like-minded politically deviated morons are just a bunch of butt-licking asswipes. And your "great leader" should go get head-fucked with a jackhammer.

    yeah thats just about it.

  • I am a white Zimbabwean, one of many Commonwealth Soldiers Serving in the British Army. I am a born and bred Zimbabwean and am proud of that fact. I have served the Zimbabwean people for just over two years in the ZRP until I decided to leave as it was getting too political and the Police were not being used as a Police Force. Redhammer, chichirkuita newe...kana unodaro hausi weZimbabwe - you're a supporter of communism and absolutism and we as a nation do not need your type!!!!

  • Redhammer you make me laugh! i support mdc and you support zanu pf - right? Hahaha you are in denial. Al you have to do is look at the state our country is in - its obvious and you are still denying it. It's like an obese person insisting they are anorexic when they so obviousley arnet...get a grip.

  • redhammer, wtf do you mean i must get executed?? are you willing to do that because i dont feel threatened by a retard. All you have to do is look at the state of zimbabwe. I dont support the british, i just thought you should know its not the colour of his skin its himself... He was great when he was younger now hes what 86 - 87? he's senile. Tsvangirai would have lead us Forward.

    Redhammer627 - you must repent :D

i haven't betrayed anyone- you are however blinded by your caveman mentallity.

  • Even the smallest dose of oppression is too much.

  • What???

  • She called a troll you fucking docile twat...

  • Honeybunch, I am neither of the above. But don't run from the issue just cuz somebody's hit a nerve. Use your intelligence. Address the issue, don't get personal. You don't, and probably NEVER will know me.

  • Zimbabwe!!!

I love my nation Zimbabwe, the only true superpower in the world. A place where true love and peace exists. I love Zimbabwe, and I know we will liberate Africa from the evils of the West who use us as slaves in our own land. Then WE will conquer the west, and the world will be better.

    ZIMBABWE!

Mugabe is the only leader for me!

  • Zimbabwe is not yours alone - it belongs to all of us, and you wanna f*** with a British soldier come and get me boy - last thing you'll ever do while you're breathing!!!

  • @Redhammer627 True love and peace? You can't say love me when you point a rifle in someone's face. And you are really gonna conquer the west and make the world better? By trying to ennialate other people makes you no better than the "evils of the west". When the west first went to Zimbabwe, Harare was nothing more than a village. It is your choice to follow Mugabe but there aren't many people who agree with you. From what i can see, Morgan is the new mandela, and he is needed to rebuild Zim!

  • One of the best songs linked to Zimbabwe ever, for me an ultimate classic

  • Why does all of youtubes clip comment disintergrate into petty crap? This post is about this video clip - all credit to Bud Cockroft et all for producing a damn good ad campaign. Yes it's dated but awesome to see after all these years.

  • Looking forward to landing in Harare on 31 Aug. First time in Zim since 2005!

  • i would love to get the music to this song so i could play it on my guitar

  • Why don't you go to Bud's website and ask him for the music? Zimbos share my china. Just google Bud Cockcroft music. I'm sure you'll find him somewhere.

  • Is there anything like Air Zimbabwe right now?? And where do they fly to?

  • From Mugabes sitting room to his bathroom

  • HAHAHAHA ... I guess you are right.

  • @kakompo Believe it or not, they are still going. They fly to London Gatwick and Have plans to get 2 Airbus A340 500's! They also fly to Asia, SA and other Regional countries!

  • @MrAemandy That's amazing. It's being run by old man Mugabe too?

  • ending was scary....

  • Comment removed

  • i bet thats the only plane they got lol

  • Comment removed

  • anyone know who wrote/sang this song??

  • yes this happened cause they are stupid they destroyed white peoples farms etc.. cause mugabe told them to do so and told them to take them yeah now thats what happens and fuk ya i wont give a penny to these people after they kileld white people and destroyed there farms they want help no way

  • So I'll bet you have the answer, huh? I hear no complaints about the almost 100 years that the black people were oppressed and mistreated by the white people... No single factor took the country where it is now, and no single action will put it back where it needs to be. And you can bet with all the people praying for this country, even if you don't put a single penny into it, help will come, and there's not a single thing you can do to stop it...

  • As an African, it's kinda hard to complain when I've seen how some of us treat each other...

  • I'm not denying all that. My point is I'm an African, and I was born one for a reason. Whatever the fight is, I've got to believe that as time goes by, we can make things better. The fact that my African bro/sister treats me bad, is something that we have to resolve within. Just like I wouldn't let anybody talk smack about my family, I won't let anyone say anything negative about Africans and how we handle ourselves when they don't know what it is to be one. That's all.

  • I understand your point, but the last time I displayed a misplaced sense of loyalty to an abusive member of my family like that...I ended up getting abused for a decade....We gotta accept the fact that there are members of our continent who act like assholes...internally and outside....If you only deal with it only internally, you'll keep going through that bullshit....in secret.

  • Point well taken, but when people come to tell you that everything that happened to you and your people is entirely you and your people's fault, they'd better not have had a hand in it anyhow. I'm not saying that if there's problem, people should shut up about it, but LISTEN to the source of your help, because if they see only one side of things, and decide to be blind to another, you might be better off not getting the help. It may cause you more trouble instead of fixing the problem...

  • I remember watching this advert on ZTV when I was little... amazing memories... beautiful song, and so very true about my beautiful country.

Incidentally, one of my best friends is now a pilot for Air Zim!!

  • I <3 Zimbabawe! I hope things get better...

  • Thanks for the video guyandjeremy; beautiful imagery. The health, political, economic, and humanitarian situations facing Zimbabwe are reaching critical mass. It's hard for those of us living thousands of km/miles away to fully grasp how desperate the times are there - and some perspective and maturity are certainly called for. GuyandJeremy, thanks again.

  • hope youre all gonna get killed by AK47

  • South Africa is on the same route as Zimbabwe when zuma takes over

  • Akomana this advert is full of memories. We would all be sitting around the telly just before 8pm news, this advert would just be like a bedtime story for most of us.

  • God, I miss Zimbabwe.

  • The plane was paused just at the end because it was about to crash. Hehe...

  • This ad must strike an emotional nerve for Rhodies and Zimbos, particularly because of the nature of the musical score. Zimbabwe's fucked now.

  • I do see Air Zimbabwe in Singapore Changi Airport. There are always passengers alighting. I'm just wondering, what can i do in Zimbabwe?

  • Get Killed. Get AIDS. Get Eaten by lion

  • Get beaten by Zanu PF goons.

  • Maybe he will get raped then get aids then get killed then eaten by lions.

  • I wasnt giving you shit. I thought the comment was funny but true :-)

  • Not sure what planet RACOS666 is on...or what country he is talking about. I guess his awareness of events outside Poland is not too good.

  • Oh yeah! ure right. I dont give a fuck about real situation in some crappy zimbabwe

  • Dear RACOS666, If you "dont give a fuck about real situation" which you clearly know fuck all about, then desist from writing about it on this channel!!

  • Whatever stupid brit.

  • Been nice talking to an intelligent and reasonable person..goodbye.

  • you really are some strange variety of fuckwit are'nt you? Suffice to say I will not be replying to any of your dumb ass replies but suggest that you add this comment to the list of things you have that annoy you. I say this because its the only explanation for such sheer ignorance I can think of. Amazing!

  • You reply to my comment to just say you won't reply ? What kind of stupid nigro fuck are ya?

  • Racist fuckhead. You should be ashamed of yourself. Go jump off a building or shoot yourself or cut your head off with a chainsaw. I'll kill your family! I'll kill all of your people!

  • The "government" is a pure catastrophe.

  • Suck your mum

  • Fucked up

  • who would travel with air zimbabwe. the fuckin plane will break down as it was made by aload of gorillas!!!

  • Mugabe once held the Air Zim flight at Gatwick up for 5 hours because his wife was still shopping in Harrods...

  • i think thats the tip of the iceburg

  • Rhodesia is dead never to return... Why do some still persist to rant on about it?

  • Looks like it also happened to Zimbabwe.

  • ndochi - why does it bother you!! it's a country you know nothing about!! stick to fast cars and hot women!! you won't get any

of them !! so kep yor fat splab black noe out of a topic you know nothing about!! think i'll offer contribution about the death of martin luther king!! no i won't because i knoe nothing about it! perhaps you should do the same !!!

  • and i have seen the sun rise in rhodesia...

we cant be hearing all there is about mugabe, on paper, he has destroyed his countries economy, truned into a facist dictator, and plunged the majority of people into starvion, not to mention ramapnt aids and the lowest life expectancy in the world.

But people still vote for him. Youve actually got to admire him a little bit.

  • noone votes for him he just cheats

  • yeah your right i over estimated him

  • Cheats and intimidates.

  • Haiwawo tibvireyi apo.

  • And it used to be so pleasant and relaxed ... A shame ... Well, it can only get better, keep our spirits high! One day we'll be in Vic Falls again enjoy the scenes ... Trust me!

  • What a beautiful country Zimbabwe is. Such a shame.

  • so much was wrong with Rhodesia , just like so much is wrong with Zimbabwe. people , if we keep up this thing about color , we will never have our real home back.we have to go back and see the sun rise

  • I've seen the sunrise in Zimbabwe. It rose 100,000%.

  • What was wrong with Rhodesia, why can't you go back to that. It was much better.

  • VagabondShoes. The situation in Zimbabwe is down to no-one but who governs it. You ask about facts, then maybe you should go back and read real facts, start with (Treason At Westminster) written in 1978 and published in 1979.

  • The state of a country is not only the responsibility of those who govern it, it is the responsibility of all of its citizens and residents. Playing the blame game is just one way to absolve oneself from one's responsibility.

  • If the citizens and residents are not allowed to speak and inform ones government of their opinions, then how is it their responsibility? Besides, I don't think Ian Smith and mugabe can be judged the same. If you watch the program, no more mandelas, you will see that people don't class them as the same.

  • I saw 'No More Mandelas' a few days ago & remember being struck by one statement: "The true core of South Africa's crisis is the huge inequality between rich and poor."

This is something we CAN take responsibility for and ACT on. If we don't we WILL be responsible if an opportunistic tyrant manipulates people's genuine frustration & seizes control. There's no crying "But it's mine," or "I didn't vote for them."- we have an obligation to address the past's injustices. Was the same true for Zim?

  • The two countries live under one sun, one type of government. They both say that they were beter off under the old government. At least they had work, food and a place to live. I still think they want a black government, but the old ways were easier to raise a family. Yet you still answer like a political genius and avoid most of the questions put to you.

  • Mugabe can't hang on forever - and it seems, according to media reports, that his vice-like grip on power might be slipping at last.

Hopefully, then, the sun will rise for all people in Zimbabwe.

  • Thanks. I'll try and get of copy of Dr Kitty Little's book.

  • It took a Bantu man to try and stem the decline of the San: Nelson Mandela, soon after assuming power, moved quickly to settle two major land claims that returned large tracts of white farm land to San communities. The Constitution of 1996 also offers the first meaningful protection for the San people, and promises to "promote, and create conditions for, the development and use of the Khoi, Nama and San languages."

What were those bad Bantus thinking?

  • Beautiful country.

  • now now all.... lets do stop this frightful row at once! can't we all just sit quietly and enjoy the beautiful images and happy song from our beloved homeland. after all we all love our dear zimrhobabdesweia!

  • aaw miss rhodesia nd sa!

my dads from zim bt i grew up in sa

miss it lyk crazy the old sa!

    God Bless Sa nd Zim

    xxxxxx

  • Wow! This brings back memories. My family visited in 1988 and we saw this commercial almost everyday.

  • boy wen i think of how good zim used to be l feel like cryin.jus sad wat that old cracker has done to our country.dai akafa.kamhata kemunhu.

  • Great Zimbabwe, you can do it, you shall overcome your problems, your country is beatyful I spent 2 wonderful years of my life in Zimbabwe, I have good memories. Cheers!!

  • Zimbabweans Are legends and compared to this country boy i miss home.....

  • me too im from zim

  • Since time began lands have been occupied by invaders, only most of it is so far past we

accept it.Yet when it happens in recent history everyone raises their arms & shrieks. However how come no-one shrieks when these communist blacks take over Rhodesia, promise the world to their compatriots & then leaves them all to starve and be tortured while they live in luxury.I no longer hear the world shrieking & complaining.Strange that! Now tell me who was right and who was wrong!

  • Yip, so true, it sucks!

  • The blacks "took back," not "took over" the country. "Rhodesia" is gone: get over it. If by "who was right and who was wrong" you wish to imply that the racist white regime should have stayed, take a hike and f off: the absence of good leadership is temporary (and a white racist regime does not count as "good leadership," sorry).

  • Yip because all the black ppl in Zimbabwe have a real great life over there atm don't they? Zimbabwe use to be a strong and proud country and now its almost of the world map. Thanks to Mugabe and his government.

  • Thanks to Mugabe and his government AND Ian Smith and his government.

  • Get it right. The blacks were not the first there. You shits kicked the San bushmen out. So piss off.

  • I think there is a significant difference between the displacement of the San by the Bantu (in the distant past) and the colonisation and subjugation of the indigenous peoples of Southern Africa by Europeans (the shameful effects of which are still very much in evidence today). To compare the two is disingenuous in the extreme.

  • Bollocks.... The San is almost extinct because of the bantu. So don't talk shit here.

  • Are you claiming that the black people of South Africa are guilty of genocide? Can you cite a respected source that supports your opinion. I doubt it.

"UCT's Department of Social Anthropology claims the Bantu almost wiped out the San!" - I somehow doubt I'll be seeing a headline or journal paper like this. Ever.

P.S. Nice name: maybe I should change mine to 3rdReich and then we can be friends.

  • Why on earth would I want to be friends with you? You are just trying to cover up the black murdering history. Fuck you.

  • Eloquent. I guess you missed the irony.

  • Missed nothing. The blacks fuck everything up. South Africa is going quicker than Zims. If you defend that, you are just as much a faggot as them.

  • "SA's economy has been improving since Sept '99- the longest period of economic expansion in its history. Annual economic growth has averaged over 4%. In the decade prior to '94, it averaged less than 1%. SA's credit ratings have steadily improved since '94, with the last upgrade from S&P, Moody's and Fitch coming in '05. They all cited SA's improved economic stability, reduced vulnerability to external shocks, moderate debt burden, and strong & stable political institutions." Where's SA going?

  • So, 60 murders a day, 45% unemployment and 4 hours a day without electric is an improvement. Fuck off you german arsehole.

  • Your ad hominem arguments, bigotry and historical revisionism astound me.

  • To put it in propesctive. You have no fucking idea what you are on about. So fuck off and wank your life away with your perthetic idioms. I shall not waste my time to answer another one of your incorrect views.

  • Idioms? Where?

Perhaps, instead of spewing invective and out-dated, skewed views ad nauseam, you should try to be a little more rational, even-handed and principled in your views.

  • vagabondshoes- oops - must just say that latin addition was impressive - wow! i am in awe - you must be ultra educated!! - i'm honoured that i can even speak on the samepage as you!! fuck off you condescending prick!! oops maybe i've misspelt two words!! go get your dictionary and check! knob

  • So education is a bad thing, is it?

  • European settlers classified the San as vermin, organised periodic 'Bushman hunts' until the start of the 20th century, and forcibly removed them from their ancestral lands.

San were wiped out by European diseases and alcoholism; some were dislocated by slavery; some where forced into poverty-wage farm work.

The San people's way of life has been almost totally destroyed by Apartheid and the inhumane policies and behaviour of the European settlers and their descendants.

  • You blacks are just pissed at the whites because everything you have, you fuck up and the whites have to fix it for you.

  • Actually (not that it should matter), I'm white.

  • vagabondshoes- gosh!! have you impressed us with your eloquent command of the english language - so many stats and facts at your intellectual fingertips! the san and bantu arguement was impressive - what are you? a lonely UCT soc sci trying to impress no one -bet you are not in SA swanking about the economic drive while SA has a higher murder rate than USA,highest HIV infection rate in the world ! ponder on that

  • I must admit that I prefer facts to unsupported opinion, but if your interested in opinion, here's mine: Zimbabwe is a beautiful country in dire straits, that can do without the rabid anti-black and pro-Ian Smith rhetoric that a few bitter people spout.

And I'm not a UCT Soc Sci student/graduate.

  • vagabondshoes - nothing wrong with education - pity you flout yours pretending to be superior to everyone else!! - have you been or lived in zimbabwe?? what facts do you have? 66000% inflation rate,80% unemployment,

life expectancy 36 years, 3 million zimbabweans have left the country (black),200000(whites) - enough facts?- they can be supported by various UN agencies- oops i sound like a rabid pro smith anti black bitter

person! but you know better - joke

  • It is a real pity when people try to use the terrible situation in Zimbabwe to justify their own twisted political and racist views.

I never claimed or pretended to be superior. Rather, I think, your posts emphasise your erroneous belief in your superiority over black people and stubborn insistence on some sort of artificial white/black dichotomy.

(I haven't been in Zim since 2005 - so its been a while, unfortunately.)

  • vagabond- there you go again"artificial w/b dichotomy" - phew - you are educated - just using those terms indicates you think you are superior - use common langusge or is that below you!! as i said before you are a condescending arrogant prick! - you sidestepped the facts and you are just a tourist with an opinion!!

the facts that were thrown at you-

  • I though English was the common posting language?

Being Zimbabwean is not a criterion for having a valid opinion on Zim - in fact, it doesn't make an opinion more (or less) valid. Also, repeating the same accusations and insults doesn't make them true.

  • I'd expect any sane and rational person to criticise the racist fringe views of those who nostalgically remember (and often dream of a return to)the oppressive regime of Ian Smith. You don't need to be a German or a Neo-nazi to condemn racist and jingoistic Neo-nazism, simply a human being.

  • vagabond- you tend to repeat yourself too-

we still await your reply to the facts! 66000%

inflation etc! and please dont retreat to the Ian Smith anti black colonial minority arguement - i think zimbabweans have a truer perspective of the situation than some tourist who has visited a few times! you would be alarmed if i had to start criticising germany having visited there a few times!!

  • One can have opinions on aspects of Germany's history (e.g. Nazism) without having EVER visited Germany.

I haven't disputed that Zimbabwe is suffering terribly (hyperinflation, political and economic mismanagement, etc.) The solution, though, lies in the future and not in repeating the mistakes of the past. In 1980 Zimbabwe merely swapped one tyrant for another.

  • vagabond- my how the mighty have fallen! to admit that things are bad in zimbabwe - ian smith a tyrant!!an exaggeration of gigantic proportions!!

  • hey man, this ad brings back memories! tx

  • sheesh people just cant enjoy the advert huh...lol

  • Wow! I have been watching this "debate." It is just plain childish to fight over who is right or wrong when there are people starving and an economy to rebuild. Zimbabwe is a beautiful place. What say we do something constructive about the current situation?

  • Viva Mugabe a man amongest man land to the people

  • And some are still brainwashed or stupid!

  • Stupid would be you mabrother if you think time can ligitimise stolen property .

  • So, how far back doyou want to go??? Neither the Ndebele or Shona people were originally from the area that currently forms Zimbabwe!!! So, if it is truly a case of giving the land to those that were disposed, shouldn't the resettled "farmers" give the land back to the Koi San people! Very selective with your application of history I see.

  • I'm glad you know the farms where REPOSESED which you misspelt obviously.( not suprised there) this hard to spell word means we at one point had posetion of the farms, lost them and now we reposes that which we once posesed.I pray that you understand that.On the figure i thgink you got things all mixed up again google

  • Oh, and also, you crack me up by commenting that I misspelt "reposes", and then telling me that I am TYING to sound clever; Mr I-am-a-master-of-my-colonialist-oppressors-language? My friend, you obviously do not have relative starving to death in Zimbabwe as a direct result of the ill-conceived land grab.

  • And for a matter of fact 80% of the farms reposed were acquired since independence, and in case your ignorance lets you down again, that means that before the seller could sell the land, the seller had to obtain a certificate of no interest from the ministry of land and agriculture.

  • Hah ha See you are tying to sound clever right there bro. How far do i want to go back in history ? you ask ,Give back land to the Koi san you Suggested,Who ever it is that taught you that the Koisan owned land was unlearned himself the Koisan where Nomads who travelled from place to place and never called any single place home ,which ever way we showed up on those plains where before they did .

  • And 400 years of evidence of the Koi San in Zimbabwe shows there nomadic tendencies. Yes, I suppose they chose to move from the rich lands of Zimbabwe to the Kalahari? And the argument of ownership is unfounded too - yes, the Koi San. Before Title deeds, ownership of land was historically determined solely by occupancy; therefore, the Koi San owned the land, just as much as those that stole it from them.

  • Utete report 2% of all white and foreign owned land was acquired at Market value after 1981 which leaves 98% of the land ill gotten or inherited uriDofo sahwira don't respond no more hauna nyaya

  • Mate, not going to argue with you on this. If you firmly believe these misconceptions of yours, then it is pointless. Thankfully the majority of people (black, white, Zimbabwean, or foreign know the truth). BTW, who is Utete? (Sounds like a Zanu propoganda engine).

  • i live in canada now , but heart is and always will be in Zim, such good people,if things get better i'll be the first one home!..miss my country.

  • ya im canadian, listen when you go bak to zimbabwe let me know lol il go with you,,,, but listen when did things start going bad for the whites there and why????

  • it not only went bad for the whites but the blacks who went against him

  • Once Mugabe dies things will slowly get better.

  • why wait for mugabe to die? that guy deserves torture, why doesnt the people rebel? or the UN do sumtin about it? someone must stand up to this once happy and wealthy country now, not wait!

  • the black people do not rebel because they understand that it is only such an atmosphere that can give indirect control of resources back to white people. that control may already be corrupt under the blacks but it remains under the blacks as i am sure there willnever be a mixed race prince or princess in the house of windsor

  • Sugaspott,

You would rather see Zimbabweans die under Mugabe than live happy lives under a good and honest white government?

  • No-one deserves to be tortured. We should be encouraging a increased respect for human rights, not perpetuating the cycle of violence.

  • @topayo I don't know if you know this but At on
