They did some really hard work it looks like for this game. I've played a couple games with real people and animated backgrounds; they're pretty cool.

Wow I remember this game and playing it for a month or two. The only scenes I really remember is when I pulled the lever on that swinging axe apparatus and it splitting Adrienne's head open and when the demon is chasing her and she's gotta poke her finger to draw some blood.

I just finished re-playing the German Version, it was fun, but on some points I couldn´t help but laughing because either acting or dubbing were so overdone^^

Phantasmagoria 1 was amazing game. Too bad sequel was extremely shallow and had really bad puzzles (and low count of them).

Anyways, if you haven't played Phantasmagoria, do is. And take the first one.

I remember loving this game even though the amount of CD's it required was just silly. In Sweden it also got terrible reviews by gaming magazines so I've thought all this time it was a massive flop and I was alone in appreciating it. There were a few gems in the big blob of shit that the "interactive movie" era was.

I played (parts of) this game when I was about 10. I'm still terrified of it and I got scared waiting for this trailer to start playing... XD I barely remember most of it, actually, but I know I liked exploring the house and town(?), but there was a door I never went into because it would progress the game and something scary would happen. I knew that because I watched my dad and brother play it, but I'm not sure what it was anymore.

Lol i was the same way, but as a kid i had alot of that false confidence going around so i finished the game sweat blood and tears. Such a great game for the time

Virtual PC 2007 with Win98 installed worked for me.

But there is an installer made for win XP which works fine. It lets you install and play the game under XP.

But it doesn´t work on my Vista, so i´m using Virtual PC.

I totally loved that game and I still love the soundtrack. That trailer almost made me pee my pants because I was so excited to play it. It was no problem to order it by mail order even though it was only for people over 18 years - I was only 15.

hahaha! when i was younger i had a super-christian friend... there were so many movies we couldn't watch and songs we couldn't listen to because they were "bad" or "dirty", but she had the CREEPIEST computer games, and Phantasmagoria was one of them... that polite, nice girl played it through so many times but i, the cynical city girl, would watch her play, flinching and cringing. :P

You should try mobygames. It sometimes has older games for purchase at cheap prices. Also, get DOSBox to be able to play it on newer systems.
